Torres “looking forward to next season”
Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson has given some positive information on Fernando Torres‘ position with the club. The new Reds manager says he has spoken to the Spanish striker, who will return to training next week and has said that he is looking forward to the new season. Torres has been the subject of increasing speculation linking him with a big money move to the likes of Manchester City and Chelsea in recent weeks, but this news may soften that speculation somewhat. “Fernando is having a holiday, a well-earned holiday, it’s his first for three years,” said Hodgson. “I spoke to him recently and he told us he is looking forward to getting back on Monday and he is looking forward to next season.” source |

Liverpool agree £2.5m fee for Young
Liverpool have agreed a deal worth £2.5 million with Aston Villa for defender Luke Young, according to the Guardian. The 31-year-old has fallen down the pecking order at Villa Park due to the repositioning of Carlos Cuellar to right-back. Meanwhile, Liverpool are on a hunt for a full-back due to the departure of Fabio Aurelio and the impending sales of Philipp Degen and Emiliano Insua. However, it remains a question whether Reds manager Roy Hodgson will deploy Young as a back-up to Glen Johnson or as a first choice left-back to replace Insua. Young was handed the opportunity at left-back due to an injury to then first choice Wilfred Bouma but fell out of favour with Martin O'Neill last season, where he started just 14 Premier League games. The signing of Young could also help Liverpool's homegrown player quota, a new ruling introduced to the Premier League. |

It's gonna be really difficult to replace Masch. A no nonsence, hard tackling ball winner, with the lungs of a horse. The only similar player I can think of right now is Essien. Other than that, really, have not seen such player yet.

Its abit stupid trying to offload Maxi at this point..and pacheco to real sociedad?? what is RH thinking?? is he on the same ship with those bloody yanks?? Need to get source from liverpool official website or trusted ones like Liverpool Echo or something. BTW, the poster didn't mention that the rumour says that Real Sociedad is interested in loaning Pacheco, but they are not sure themselves wheter they can even loan him... thats all. See here. See? How simple words can twist facts...next time read/write/research properly before getting all heated up. Maxi one is not official, we need to get more info from more sources. Luke Young maybe a decent buy with his price and filling the English quota, but I still prefer the younger and energetic Figueroa. This post has been edited by kazuki85: Jul 28 2010, 11:18 AM |

I really do not want to see Maxi leave us this season, as he got a lot of quality to deliver on RW, plz RH......
While for Macherano replacement, I think we can give Lucas another chance again, and probably can consider of MC De Jong or Barry as replacement..... |

Liverpool move in for Monaco’s Park Liverpool are reportedly set to make a move for AS Monaco attacker Park Chu-young. The 25-year old South Korea international has told the French club he wants to leave and could find himself in the Premier League as new Reds boss Roy Hodgson is showing considerable interest. It is also believed that Birmingham City are also on the trail of the man who scored one goal in four appearances for the Taeguk Warriors at the World Cup. Corriere dello Sport says while Inter remain keen on Reds midfielder Javier Mascherano, they have made progress in negotiations for teammate Kuyt. With Real Madrid wing-back Royston Drenthe declaring he was close to joining Liverpool, the development is seen as a breakthrough for Inter in talks for Kuyt. Drenthe is seen as a replacement for Kuyt and Inter insiders are now convinced a deal can now be struck. This post has been edited by Burningsunz: Jul 28 2010, 11:30 AM |

i think we will use Luke Young for the time being and fullfill with quota requirement. i bet RH will try to get a better and younger player. this is to be prepare for 1st BPL game. he only has 2 weeks to blend all the players. so this is more back up plan. similar to Kyrgiakos case. 2.5 millions quite high but ofcourse he is English, thats y he is expensive.
Pacheco to Real Sociedad, so far I read from LFC is Sociedad interest to loan him. We should never release him. He from barca and u all should know barca product very well. And he is 1 of U19 spain squad. Thats a promising player. We can get another Torres in build now. But I prefer Pacheco stay in liverpool and play while keep torres until he fully fit. Muntari for Mash, its a good deal, but its better if we can get cash too. |

Cole: It's time for a Liverpool title!
Liverpool new boy Joe Cole is desperate to help his club end 20 years of waiting by winning the Premier League title. The 28-year-old was snapped by the Anfield club on a free-transfer after being released by former club Chelsea. The move came as a surprise to many as he had rejected offers from Tottenham and Arsenal, who both offer him Champions League football. Cole was unveiled as a Liverpool player along with fellow new signings Milan Jovanovic and Danny Wilson at a press conference and he spoke of his ambition to bring the much craved domestic title back to Anfield for the first time since 1990. "The main thing for the club would be to win the title. It's been such a long time," Cole said. "We'll keep on building and take it slow, but like I said everything is set in place for a successful spell." Meanwhile, Wilson could not hide his excitement after his move from Rangers and the 18-year-old is determined to step up to the new challenge. "Coming down here is a big step up and I understand that and the style of football is a bit different," Wilson acknowledged. "At the end of the day, it's just a game of football. "I think coming down here, I just want to do the best I can. I'm not setting myself any targets or games to play, I'm just going to take it as it comes. "If I start games then great. If not, I'll work that little bit harder to get into the team." With Wilson signed to bolster the defence, former Standard Liege forward Jovanovic has been brought in on a free-transfer to sharpen the attack of Liverpool. The Serbian international is looking forward to doing his best for the club and also brush up his English. "This is a big step in my career and I am proud. But my English is very poor and I cannot explain all my feelings," Jovanovic said. "I am looking towards the future and I will try to bring something to the football club." |
