Off contract Chelsea winger Joe Cole is pricing himself out of a Bosman move.

The Daily Mail says clubs have been staggered by the price Cole appears to have put on his own head. He told Liverpool he wanted to command the same salary as Steven Gerrard - believed to be in the region of £120,000 a week - having rejected their offer of closer to £80,000 a week.

He told Tottenham something similar, even after engaging in what were said to be positive discussions with Harry Redknapp.

Tottenham's manager has adored Cole since their days together at West Ham, but seven years at Chelsea seem to have made him too rich for the blood at White Hart Lane.

Sir Alex Ferguson has long been an admirer of Cole. He would demand an update on the young player's progress whenever he encountered Redknapp.

But now an opportunity has presented itself to sign Cole, who is only 28 and has just appeared in a World Cup, Ferguson has also distanced himself. Manchester United went so far as to brief journalists that Cole was not on their list of transfer targets this summer.

Arsene Wenger remains taken with the idea of recruiting Cole, recognising that his skill and versatility would suit Arsenal's style of play. But again, an agreement has not yet been reached because the price is too high. Even for someone on a free transfer.

Liverpool are eyeing Paraguay midfielder Victor Caceres.

Libertad star Caceres is "80 per cent" certain to move to the Premier League, with Liverpool thought to be the frontrunners for his signature.

"It is fair to say that a number of clubs are looking at Victor, he had a fantastic World Cup," his agent Barry McIntosh told Sky Sports.

"We always believed Victor would impress in South Africa, and he did not disappoint.

"The interest he is getting is from throughout Europe and a deal is not far away, I would say he is 80 per cent likely to be going to England."

i think he is an entertainer in liverpool. everyone loves him..

it is interesting to see how RH doing things now. he tried to sell some players off and to raise funds to buy his own set of players. We have to see what kind of players he will buy.

i would love to see joe cole come to liverpool and play. he can bring the creativity force back in the midfield and also can play different kind of position and the most important thing is that he can score goals.

Liverpool are ready to sell Albert Riera to Olympiakos.

The Mirror says Liverpool are ready to sell Riera to Greek club Olympiakos in a £4million deal - to raise cash for Loic Remy.

The Spanish left winger is expected to speak to Olympiakos, who are offering big salaries to their new players, although he would prefer to stay in England or return to Spain's La Liga.

Kop boss Roy Hodgson knows he has some ­'disenchanted players' and Riera, who fell out badly with former manager Rafa Benitez, is one of them.

But, rather than convince him to stay, a sale will help in the bid to land Nice striker Remy.

really cannot believe that joe cole join liverpool. i really love him as a player and now i can see the midfield linger with one player that does it all and dangerous. i think he will wear number 11 rather than 7. number 7 is a bit number voodoo for me actually. look at the australian.. lolz..

for short term maybe and plus we don have that much budget do we? if we don offer this kind of player who have tons of experience then who can we buy now? selling mascherano? yeah. we can buy players with that money but maybe we will invest on attacking players such as midfield or striker. if we can get players who have experience and decent with cheap price tag, get them first. maybe sooner or later, we can buy another good player next year with more additional funds.

now i am waiting for RH to deal with the left back. i totally find with with paul from fulham but we really need to get one more attacking force.

I thought Plessis is going off soon? Arda Turan? he is good but maybe you try to write one email to RH and tell him to buy him. lolz..

doubt that aston villa will sell him back to us as he is playing well with them last season i think.
