Ah, how I relish the good old days where debates were heated and went on for days, and ended up with posters being (unfairly) banned.  whistling.gif
i only managed to witness one or two occasions of that but boy it was awesome XD

fans vs fans or fans vs rival fans, in the end, you somehow feel the spirit of YNWA is strong in the thread.

Sorry Jonno, I have no idea what it means if the loan defaults. Probably, like when you use say a ring as collateral at a pawn shop or a house in a housing loan, the bank gets to 'tah pau' it and do as they see fit.

Most likely the club will then be auctioned off to the highest bidder as i doubt the brit taxpayers would take too kindly to indirectly owning a football club.

On another note, if I were a serious buyer, I'd wait till then to make my bid TO THE BANK and not bother clowning around with the tabloids.

REPORT: CROUCH AND POULSEN AGREE REDS DEALS
August 10, 2010, 20:26

Fulham assistant manager and goalkeeping coach Mike Kelly will join Roy Hodgson at Liverpool today after the two clubs agreed a severance pay package.

Hodgson has been keen to get Kelly, the former Birmingham City goalkeeper, to Anfield and a deal was struck last week, with Kelly to arrive at Melwood today.

Kelly will work along side Hodgson and current Liverpool coach Sammy Lee. Kelly is known to be a stern coach, unlike the former Fulham manager.

Meanwhile, several reports emerged last night claiming both Christian Poulsen and Peter Crouch have agreed to join Liverpool.

Poulsen, who is currently a Juventus player, is believed to have agreed terms with the Merseyside giants, with the two clubs finalizing the deal.

The 30-year-old was omitted from the Danish squad for their friendly against Germany after requesting coach Morten Olsen to withdraw him from the squad due to negotiations.

Crouch, the former Liverpool striker, will re-join Anfield after travelling to Melwood later this week.

Tottenham and Liverpool have agreed a fee of £7.5million for the 6 foot 6 inches striker, however Spurs are also keen on Liverpool winger Ryan Babel and may want to include the Dutch international in any deal.

Crouch left Liverpool in the summer of 2008 to join Portsmouth, from where he joined Tottenham Hotspur for an undisclosed fee rumoured to be in the region of £10 million.

The England international made 134 appearances for Liverpool, scoring 42 goals after making a £7million move from Southampton.

I wouldnt mind seeing Crouchy back in Anfield at all..but really Crouchy coming back? Why would Spurs wanna let him go unless they have already struck a deal with Remy? and Crouchy himself to play in the Europa League rather than Champions League?

Id rather take that news with a pinch of salt

Barcelona are favourites to land Javier Mascherano and will offer former Arsenal man Alexander Hleb in part-exchange.

Mascherano has reportedly told Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson that he would like to leave Anfield. However, Hodgson has made it clear that the club, not the player will decide the terms of Mascherano's exit.

Barcelona attempted to sign the 26-year-old last summer and now Mascherano has reignited the possibility of a move to the Nou Camp with his representative in Spain Horacio Zandonadi saying, "The player would love to hear from Barca."

Reports in several Spanish dailies suggest that Barcelona are keen on capturing Mascherano and see him as the natural battling midfielder to fill the hole left by Yaya Toure, who left for Manchester City this summer.

Christian Poulsen's Switch From Juventus To Liverpool Held Up Until Javier Mascherano Leaves Anfield - Report

Juventus midfielder Christian Poulsen's move to Liverpool cannot go ahead until Javier Mascherano has departed from Merseyside, according to a report from the Liverpool Daily Post.

A deal of around €8 million has reportedly been agreed between the clubs for Poulsen, with the Dane withdrawing from his national side's game against Germany with a three-year contract having been offered to him.

The deal can only seemingly go ahead though once Mascherano has left. The Argentine has looked likley to join up with former Reds boss Rafael Benitez at Inter.

However, Inter are yet to sell Mario Balotelli to Manchester City, and do not have the cash need to prise the €30m-rated Mascherano from Anfield.

The Argentine's representative in Spain, Horacio Zandonadi, insisted this week that Barcelona were not also interested in the 26-year-old midfielder.

Confusion surrounds Kirdi bid

Yahya Kirdi has added fresh confusion to takeover talk at Liverpool after announcing that he wants "at least two months" to consider a deal.

Sky Sports News reported on Monday that the former Syria international and his consortium of Middle East investors could sign an initial purchase agreement with the Premier League club before Sunday's season-opener against Arsenal.

The news raised hopes among some Liverpool fans, who are desperate to see the end of the co-ownership of George Gillett and Tom Hicks, although others have met Kirdi's interest with severe scepticism.

And fresh quotes from the businessman, which suggest that he could want a minimum eight weeks to think about completing any takeover, will add further uncertainty to his approach.

"I want at least two months, two months to see everything," Kirdi is quoted in The Times as telling Bloomberg.

"After that, if everything is OK, it's a deal. If not, 'thank you very much'."

Kirdi has also risked the wrath of some Liverpool followers by suggesting that former boss Rafa Benitez did not do anything positive for the club, despite winning the Champions League in famous style in 2005.

"I've liked (Liverpool) since I was young," he said. "Rafael didn't do anything good for Liverpool. (Roy) Hodgson is very good for Liverpool because he's not some kind of dictator."

Sky Sports News reported that the consortium has agreed to pay off all of Liverpool's debts and that funds will be supplied to complete the planned construction of a new stadium in Stanley Park.

this line is enough is shown how clueless he is eventhough he's an ex-footballer. probably media has twisted his exact words but still.. i choose to believe this is a tactics from the yanks to buy more time and fishing for bigger bid.

as for crouch, wonder why would RH wanted him if its true. Crouch left because he wanted more playing time and if Torres stays fit I cant see him as 1st choice. Prefer Cole plays behind Torres while jova left, kuyt/maxi right.

The entire Kirdi bid is a bunch of bollocks why do you need 2 months? and even he was interested the club was for sale for 4 months prior to this and all of a sudden he comes up telling he needs 2 months? and that is the same time around when RBS expects their money to be paid, if not we'll be put into administration, this is seriously turning out to be a farce and i thought Portsmouth was more farcical...I smell Gillette is all over this one with his stalling tactics..

I can only hope that the board values every proposal accordingly and sees the "proposal" by that fat sack of lard is just another stalling tactic employed by the Yanks...and Rafa wasnt a success at Liverpool? spare me the laughs please ...

If you want Liverpool to be a successful world club. Then you have to learn to accept all kinds of fans including casual and hardcore alike.

The reason I say this is because I know many of my friends who are not computer literate. There are a lot of casual fans all around the world. Yes it's true that they don't know who Bill Shanky is or know about the Hillsborough Disaster. One thing is for sure though, whenever Liverpool is playing, they'd still show up to watch the game.

not to mention old breed and new breed fans as well

old breed liverpool fan think everton as their biggest enemy
new breed liverpool fan think us(Manchester United) as their biggest enemy

old breed Manchester United fan think Liverpool as their biggest enemy
new breed Manchester United fan think Chelsea as their biggest enemy

old breed Arsenal fan think Tottenham as their biggest enemy
new breed Arsenal fan think Barcelona as their biggest enemy

ok, he seems to be pushed around by many other managers other that Rafa, (whom received lots of stick when he did), why? crouch cannot command first 11 football team sheet in other club meh??? die die also much return to LFc?? I'm not against crouch but there IS a reason he didnt & couldnt command a regular at LFc yet the mud slinging on rafa is not justified when crouch himself has been pawned around like a take & leave damaged goods.

on a sidenote. hurray!!!, anti rafa fans, you have a new supporter!! if things suppose to go as is, possible new LFC owner/director!! rclxm9.gif

Potential new Liverpool owner Yahya Kirdi has done little to endear himself to Liverpool supporters by claiming former manager Rafael Benitez “did nothing for Liverpool” and was a dictator.

The same Rafael Benitez who led the club to their highest ever Premier League points tally and brought star names like Fernando Torres, Pepe Reina, Javier Mascherano and Xabi Alonso to the club.

Kirdi said “Rafael didn’t do anything good for Liverpool. Hodgson is very good for Liverpool because he’s not some kind of dictator.”

Liverpool fans, already skeptical at Kirdi’s credentials and links to current owner George Gillett, will be even more dubious about Kirdi having heard these comments. Having had to suffer Tom Hicks’ continual bad press with some of his ridiculous comments in recent years all Liverpool fans want is an owner to act with some dignity and class.

hmm, its been reported in more sites, & i suppose its not "misquote" but a genuine Gillett & Hicks mouthpiece.... opps i mean a person with such dignity. thumbup.gif thumbup.gif thumbup.gif
