This seem like a very big launch for Nokia as those older generation price drop is crazy. I never seen anything like it so fast. Symbian usually hold their price very well but not this time.

I too sold my 5800 for 500++ last month and switch to Android. Luckily bought for 800++ nia. Pity N97 owners cos price drop down the hill.

Can you name me a few?
Green and Red button?? laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

I dont know what are the features that were missing. Can you name me a few besides the green and red call button? laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

In fact, what I felt is that Android is more refined in a lot of places. It feel less like a phone but a more complete experience in term of the smartphone features. Just the browser alone is miles better than Symbian.

Mayb you are using a Symbian version which was unheard of...

I used so many Symbian phone before except for Sabun...

7610->N70->7710->N78->N85->5800

Almost every series also I used except for S80. Used to be an interesting platform, until Apple whoops it's ass and then Android. It changed very little even after all these years. For a keypad phone, they were exceptionally good but for touch screen based, definately left a lot to be desired. There is a few apps that I used extensively but already found a replacement for it.

Haha dude, I've been using alot of Symbian phone b4. Forgot the nokia phone name, but I'll list few of it;

Nokia N81, Nokia N95, Nokia N97 and N900. There are few classic nokia phone I have used b4. After sold my Nokia N900, I switched to Android, and my first android phone was Motorola Milestone.

As a new android user, I need to suit myself with android environment. The speed, camera quality and yada yada are terribly bad. Great spec but in real life used, it's suck. So I sold Milestone after 1 months of used and bought Nokia E52.

And when Samsung released Samsung Galaxy I9000 S came out with Super AMOLED, 4" screen, 1Ghz Humming Bird, 512MB of RAM, I am WOWED with the great specs I quickly buy it and man, it's is soooo NICE watching video, capture some pictures, HD video recording, but it's lack of FLASH. And after a few weeks using it, I experienced memory RAM problem. Keep having 50~80mb RAM left. It's annoying!

The browsing experience is AWESOME, google handle it very well. But my experience from using both SGS and Nokia N900, Nokia N900 did very well in browsing experience with full flash player support and most android phone doesn't support full flash until android 2.2 froyo. And not many android phone will get froyo for your information.

Another what android OS lacking is FREE NAVIGATION software. My Nokia E52 have Ovi Maps and it helped me alot when I'm driving. And Android does not have true multitasking like Symbian and Maemo offered. Yeah, they have eye-candy UI, but lack free navigation, no true multitasking, RAM problem, is what google need to think about.

My Samsung Galaxy I9000 S what's best to keep me around is it's Super AMOLED 4" Screen and Good browsing experience. Other than that, is just plain normal. Maybe after 6 months of using it, I might get bored and get another phone

And one more thing, for our regions, there aren't any paid application from Android Market. You need to root, install MarketAccess/MarketEnabler so you can get the paid application appeared in Android Market. Why such a hassle? Symbian and Maemo does not need all of these. And I bought Samsung Galaxy I9000 S with my HARD EARNED MONEY just to get STUPID FREE APPLICATION only??

What Nokia lacking is their UI. it's BORED, yeah I admit it's BORED. But only the UI they need to improved.

ADD MORE, most android have awesome specs like 1Ghz, 512mb of RAM and etc2, it's sacrifice alot of battery life, which sucks. My SGS can barely hold for 1 day.

So there you go.

You are so funny man...

1. RAM problem - you really proved that you are new in Android. The ram limitation is a problem with Android 2.1 which explained why Froyo 2.2 will be faster cos it free up the RAM which was not used in Ecclair. If Im not mistaken, Ecclair only support upto 2xx MB RAM. BTW, have you ever check your free RAM with N97? Without anything else loaded except the stock one, you left with 50-60mb if im not mistaken.

2. Lack of navigation... you can download brut map and get navigation. I dont want to talk much on this cos I do feel both are inferior currently compared to Garmin which has better map.

3. Flash is not a Android related thing... you buy SGS without knowing it came without Flash or you just ignored the fact you cant live without one?

4. If you can list me the Symbian apps that you bought with your hard earn money? None?? Well, if you want pirated apps, you can find them online. And you do not need to sign them or root your phone to do so. Google is your friend...

Not again... I hate it when people say UI is bored. If you want to talk about UI, Iphone OS UI is the best.

Actually, you're the one that's funny

1. From every nokia phone I've been used, Nokia N97 the most sucks of them all. Bought RM2240 that time, and I regret buying it. Keep getting lack of memory. From both android phone I have been used (Milestone and SGS), both have memory RAM problem. And I can tell, android is bad in utilizing the hardware. Great hardware, but OS sucks utilizing it. Care to debate on this?

2. Brut Map is not android map, dude. Google Map is Android Map. Google have Google Map, but it's sucks. You need to be Online and have GPS function ON and there is no navigation features. And Papago, you need to buy it cost around RM140 while Ovi Maps is free for most of the phone. Now Papago doesn't support froyo. And I heard MFM won't update Papago map. Sucks alot.

3. I can live without the camera flash, but come on, browsing without full flash player support? Means I can't farmville on my phone but my previous Nokia N900 could. Have to wait another months for froyo to arrived. Btw, didn't u ask me what android is lacking? And this is one of it.

4. The things about pirated application, that it's dangerous. Google will be my friend if they let our regions have paid application.

And one more thing, if you wanna take a screenshot of your phone, you need to root first and install the 3rd application. Why such hassle? Root here, root there, to get Super Administrator access. To change the theme, you need to root also. Symbian and Maemo doesn't need all of these whistling.gif

Got source? I wanna see how it perform. Can play also must play nicely cos going to be connected to the tv. No one has ever tried it before, it's not surprise to be skeptical. So far, the only format capable of being play is mp4 cos got hardware acceleration. Even that is very dependent on the video quality and resolution.

Theres a video showing the n8 playing a .mkv file thru a usb cable to a n900.

And ya , heres a confirmation about the n8's Gpu . Not sure its that GODLY tho.
