Hello Guys,
I've just recently bought myself a Dymax IQ3 Pico Aquarium(http://www.3reef.com/forums/fish-tank-brands-kits/dymax-iq3-pico-aquarium-77902.html) from recent AquaFair2010.

Concern #1:
Recently i realize those hair algea starts to appear around the plants. Also some algea on glass and plants beginning to turn yellow. Last week i saw 2 small snails appeared, lol.
The aquarium comes with 28LEDs light. If not mistaken 1.6W. Not sure if this is enough light for especially for my Glasso & HC???

Concern #2:
I'm planning to make this a shrimp tank for breeding(after i figure out the above concern #1 LOL). Room temp around 27-29c. Therefore i'm looking into purchasing this small TEM Chiller(http://www.jbjnanocubes.com/contents/en-us/d788_Coolworks-Iceprobe.html#p10833). What do you all think?? Anyone used this before??? It basically uses Peltier thermoelectric device just the ones used to cool computer processors. Which also made me think of DIYing myself by getting parts from Low Yat. However i've read the copper/aluminium heat sink attached to the TEM might contaminate the water and can cause harm to shrimps/fishes. Any comments??
I'm basically using a fan to blow it but the lowest temp i got on rainy days is 26c. Avg is 28c.

Concern #3:
I have also put in this DIY Co2 canister manual pump type. It uses a small diffuser which pushes C02 from top to bottom where it makes contact with water. At first, i would pump 2 times a day and u can see the water will slowly push up/dissolve the C02 in the diffuser hence i hv to pump it again. Recently i realize that water does not push up the CO2 anymore. Does this mean i've overloaded Co2 in the water??? LOL. It's been stuck for 3 days now.

Any suggestions and comments is greatly welcome! biggrin.gif

Other Info:
DIY CO2 Canister Pump type
Water temp(non A/C room) around 27c-29c
LED Lights on 10-4pm & 7-12am = 11hrs
Plant fertilizer once a week.
Water test N/A. Have not got any testing kit yet

isang,

1-led lights wit only 1.6w definitely not enough for glosso or hc. my previous experience with glosso even with 55w for 1.5ft tank also hardly get them to stay down as glosso striving upwards looking for more lights... so with 1.6w i dun think u can have hc or glosso carpeting

2-shrimps breeding depends on what shrimps u r talking bout... if for rcs its easy no need chiller to breed them... they breed non stop even temp around 28-30c... unless u r looking for rcs breeding then only u need to have chiller around 25c for them to start breeds... i dun have any experience in crs breeding as too expensive to spare if they died lol...

3-not sure what u r explaining.. pics might help to further understand

when it comes to LEDs. it's not about w/LED anymore.. its not even about watts.

It's effective lumens.

with LEDs wattage lari edi 1. the LED may be 1watt but in actual power its higher. right?

once u use LED, then i dunno how to comment edi. unknown waters for me haha!

but sudosandwich. light not powerful enough. and if u use tablet co2, then i dunno how to tell u to dose. hc and glosso? dont go out and but 4 - 5 pots just yet. try out with one or two. see if u can grow it first. if u see success, then oni buy more pots. if not sure waste if u cant maintain or grow them. start slow. start with more powerful lights

Hello... unsure.gif i can't find any normal aquarium thread so I'm here. T___T

Can I ask for your opinion? D: I got this medium empty fish tank and my mom doesn't want it to be in the house. I thought of bringing it into my room and rear guppy fishes in them.

Is the idea stupid? D: I wonder if I can sleep with the aquarium sound x_X and and my floor is carpeted (oh that's the worse)

is this workable? x_X

Thanks for all the great advice guys!
Another question is how about water tempreture for Glasso & HC? Do they require specific temp to grow healthy?? My tank temp is around 27-30c.

@ciohbu: eeps! my aquarium is near 20 gallon.... that's kinda big isn't it?

so that means... if i go out and close my door, with no fan... the temperature will rise?! D: oh my god. i never know that. >"< if i on aircond--- later too cold?!

HAHA now i'm scared that all the fish will die due to temperature fluctuations >"<

fish wont die from temp fluctuations. unless drastic 20 to 40 like thaT haha.

well my tank is a 2footer

and i keep it in my room. and actually, off fan, and keeping ur door closed actually helps in maintaining the tank temperature.

lets say i off fan/close doors whole day. my temp would rise from 20 - about 23/24 degrees.

if i open d doors and windows, it will go up to 28degrees.

so keeping the door closed, actually helps ur room keep its temperature.

as i on aircond at night, and in the morning i leave, leaving the room door closed keeps the cool air in the room. hence keeping my tank cool as well!

tanks in the room is bad for fengshui. well thats what they say.
but for me it doesnt bother me at all. im using canister. so no water splash. i off the lights even before i sleep. doesnt bother me at all.

its really relaxing tho. watching ur tank before u sleep.
