michanz; i was also faced some problem last time as i was wondering y suddenly my rcs didnt produce and population become lesser and lesser... all my green and bee also dissapeared...
at 1st i didnt realised coz plant bit thick... then when i trimmed only i could see rcs stuck at lily pipe intake and died, others having meal party... hahaha... now i cover the intake pipe with netting.... |

QUOTE(Noyze @ Oct 25 2010, 09:25 AM) Hey hey, ok I've not said much in this part of the forum.. ok wait I've yet to say anything in this thread!! lolx. anyways, I've just started a tank, filled it up with like 40 bucks worth of tetra just to let them die so the tank can cycle better lolx never heard of school of thought saying u have to sacrifice fishes to do better cycle process u can always cycle for bout 2-3weeks 1st then can test some fish to go in... not straight away put in during cycle time... |

QUOTE(jjjkj @ Oct 25 2010, 07:53 PM) Sifu's new here. How do i get started on getting a planted tank. i have managed to breed hundreds of rcs wit 1ft tank no problems coz they are very hardy... but with crs i doubt so coz water may not so stable for 1 ft tank and easy to fluctuateI have 1feet nano tank( Ocean free set) = 1 lighting and 1 HOB filter. I read through about CO2 and DIY CO2. Now i would want to make a CHEAP aquascape tank. Or i should just aquascape with plants that do not require CO2 injection( Java Moss / Marimo). My ulterior motive was to create a Breedable CRS/RCS shrimp tank. As long as the tank can breed these shrimp can already. |

during my 1ft tank, i have few hundreds rcs with bout 5 green tetras, 2 ottos & 1 sae... no problem with them and rcs keeps breeding non stop...
now my 1.5ft tank with bout 8 fish, 2 ottos, 2 sae, last nite still can see few shrimplets lepak2 eating... i think smaller fish like tetra make no harm if having lots places for rcs & shrimplets to hide... |

QUOTE(Superdude @ Oct 28 2010, 11:20 AM) rcs is the easiest to breed... u dun have to do anything for them to breed i would say just ensure water is clean and if using co2 make sure not to excessive that will kill shrimps... indication of lots of co2 shrimps will die 1st then only fish... i read also if more o2 will make them happy... so once a while i slow down co2 or make more water movement from outlet filter so that will have more o2... but this will invite bba as inconsistent of co2 supply but i dun care hehe... once u have matured male female, they will breed non stop... this is my last time population hehe... |

very simple to identify male & female rcs
female - rounded belly - color more red - saddle (triangle) behind head - bigger then male male - straight belly - smaller size - color not so red to know whether the female has matured and ready to breed, u will see the saddle behind the head... means its ready to mate... |

QUOTE(rasinblood @ Nov 4 2010, 08:35 AM) Hemianthus callitrichoides is really beauitful.. is consider one of the smallest plant in the world. if not mistaken HC needs low water temp...Cost about Rm15 - Rm7 1 Pot nickname : HC Light : Mid - Low Growth : Mid Without Co2 also can grow but slower, with Co2 will grow faster. Other is "Glossostigma elatinoides" Cost about Rm10 - Rm15 1 Pack Nickname : Glosso Light : Mid - high Growth : fast You need co2 and strong light require for this if not u see yr plant growing upwards.. lol ^^ have fun |
