QUOTE(freestyler87 @ Jul 28 2010, 03:48 PM)
moe81,
Just some opinion no offense ok?

1, should use different size of rock to separate the white sand smaller rocks better looks natural

2.one mistake that every aquascaper does.. 3:1 golden ratio is apply wrongly as the river should not in the MIDDLE...

3.Planting Rotala is wrong too... should not plant red, green , red ,green... concentrate the red one in the ratio (golden thinggy) as your eye will catch attraction on that place...

3.arrangement of wood should be follow the natural feel as the  the wood bending should be natural not you go make it other way round ( this hard to explain in words for me , if i able to show you face to face easier to understand )

4.should not plant it flat... i mean make behind soil higher "Slope"

5.Dont put in fauna yet as your cycle haven complete...
you may put fish after a week if you using cycle bacteria

Good Luck...
Regards,
Kenneth

Thanks for ur feedback. i get where u're coming from. i'm no pro. i'm not sure bout you. but with the way u point ur comments out. u gonna get ur @ss fried if u run into some pioneer. try starting out humble. Pun intended!

=====

Very happening here hor while I was away lol!!.... wahahahaha.

1st, it's plainly his personal opinion and I agree on all statements where this is a forum, discussions are open. Some way get heated up but in the end its still up to the tank owner. So what if some people like Algae LOL.

these are my opinion to your opinions and views

1. The looking natural part of the dividing rocks. It's more of a common practice. Since we dont (expect) any growth on the white sand, what can block your straight view from the front to the back? well Personally I would place bigger ones in the front while slowly getting smaller to the back while zigzagging each other out. shows depth. Again, personal tastes.

2. As Moe81 mentioned, the 3:1 rule is never a must. as long as the FEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEL is there. or you get that tingly sensation when you do your scape. well, youre the owner, u syok, can d lo. but of course, sometimes winning other's overall syokness can boost self ego (LOL)

3. Planting of rotala.. the colouration and mix is definitely , again personal choice. Uniform would be easiest to give power to it ( as kenneth mentioned )Personally, I wouldn't plant it that way too. I dont mean colour schemes but I will back achingly plant 2-3 stems per bunch only having 0.5cm apart from each other. Trust me, the work is worth it.

= ALSO, ill avoid planting the rotala towards the middle exactly behind the white sand unless you know what youre doing ( religious trimming and proper trimming method)

4. Well, i have to say his wood placement is Simple and Nice IMHO. I'm not very good with wood. so I won't go on further.

5. ahh.. SLOPE. my favourite. A little slope is always a great addition to any tank. but never a must, If you can create the depth without the use of slope. then memang pro leh. ( aka. master simmy) otherwise, the utilization of SLOPE is more emphasized on IWAGUMI or rock scapes. woody. can or can not to withotu depending on scape. I personally would add more for your tank but not too much.

6. Agree on the fauna comment. thats it.

END OF constructive(?) COMMENT
===============

BEGINNING OF RANT

Come one you guys. I like where this forum kakis are growing up to. not to say Im a sifu or pioneer or god knows what but LOL!

No point frying asses here and there. Just have a nice looking scape. Take pic. and shareeee.. biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Peace Out.
Andrew

Back read some pages. Rm 120 for a solenoid??

Send me 10 wahaha..

Seriously though. The manual ones shouldnt cost you more than rm 100, whilst the solenoids can really go that high.

Ottos are safe because theyre primarily , vegetarians.

Go ahead why not add some more moss.

Also, I would take more notice about the temperature in the afternoon as it may spike well over 30c.

Well, as a certain someone i know mentioned before. " Genius is knowing when not to Overdose" LOL..

I dose it daily. But my tank is high tech high light high c02 la.. If i dont do this algae attack sure to happen.

It's like this. on the rotala behind the white sand part. There isnt any hardscape blocking the soon to be leggy or tall rotalas. so if u want that bushy effect, you have to always trim the rotala down weekly and I must say its a PITA. Whereas rotalas planted behind the wood are much more forgiving as the leggy parts are gonna be blocks by the woodwork.

I'll place one of my previous works to elaborate.

See the stems getting bushy? the legs are well blocked away by the rocks.

Also this tank has a ton of slopage given to it . Imagine. a 60x30x36cm(H) tank is given 2 1/2 bags of 9L soil . LOL!!

http://www.aquaticplantcentral.com/forumap...ew-iwagumi.html

that tank's workflow.

THere are some MAJOR flaws with this tank. Rotalas not bushy enough. HC did not trim.. a lot of regrets la. but well, I use it as an example.

Here are my very first tanks

He's saying it's low. Usually it's because of your DIY c02.

C02 is acidic anyway LOL.

Best not get yourself worked up by the pH levels as long as it stays within pH 6-7.2 range you're pretty much okay. TRYING to change ti would have much more worst after effects.

DOnt alter your water pH levels lei.. I breed crs as well. and that is by far not a huge factor.... temperature and ammonia levels would be a bigger worry.

haha. Chemicals are by far the worst method to alter your pH... Try adding wood, ada soil , remove certain rocks , or peat.

Not me.. but CRS dont only live/breed in neutral ma. What I mean is pointless to worry yourself over pH. (Unless we're talking pH 5 or 8 )

Here I come correcting.

Function definitely the same. I give you mercedes and kancil. Function same bo? biggrin.gif

Its the build. But this again, is a fancy product.. or.. cosmetics. NEVER a need. but IMO, the glass quality is really different by 300% . Those rm 150 per set ones, the ones i have, no rough handling etc. but due to high filter output. already seeing some cracks after 1 year. my 2nd hand ADA one, bought same time ( but already 1 year old, now 2 years total) . still pristine.

Again, since its a cosmetic upgrade. No point really. Just syok sendiriness. but to compare the both. there IS a difference.

My 2 cents. ( from my experience of using the two. )
