yeah i think i want to convert one of my nano tanks to be a shrimp tanks, maybe start with rcs that seems to be easy to breed.

now, where do i start? where can i get 'good' shrimps, and how to identify male/female or pregnant ones?

very simple to identify male & female rcs


female
- rounded belly
- color more red
- saddle (triangle) behind head
- bigger then male

male
- straight belly
- smaller size
- color not so red


to know whether the female has matured and ready to breed, u will see the saddle behind the head... means its ready to mate...

No , my rcs seem to be ok. So now i realy not sure what to do, i when to "The Pet Family " in kelana the guy say it might be my water problem.
when and get some anti chlorine see will it help.

Guys anyone breed before zebra danios or know any knowledge on it? Because I wanna know how big are their eggs so I can buy a breeder net that has holes big enough for eggs to fall to the bottom...

Ok i try by change 30% water from my nano.

Anyway guys so far untill now no fish die after putting the anti chlorine , that's mean all the time there still abit of chlorine in my tank ........ Oh My Fishy

aiyer so lucky! either its luck or ur really good! haha the bigger the tank the easier for water quality to be stabilized.

much is luck when getting "ggod' shrimps! basically sometimes its hard to see the difference between male/female.. id say get 10 and by chance ull get males and females haha

Added on October 30, 2010, 2:00 pm@ABC - dude thats a real small tank. my advice would be, small tank = small plants. well its a good start for u to understand the plants, how it grows, how fert doses are scheduled.

once u go along, get more knowledge, ull get to choose suitable plants for specific tank sizes.

in a small tank like that, id say go for riccia carpet and probably some midgroud plants for ur background. like those sttyrlogynae. and play around with some mosses.

that rock is way too big! but with proper plants u can make that rock work.
im a fan of oversized rocks hhhaha

people are selling riccia.. get riccia wood from lfs.. rm10 for a few pieces.. im sureur tank would need just one pack.. tie it to the riccia wood and place it on the ground let it grow like a carpet

how old is your tank?
you have to cycle your tank at least 1 months. Let the beneficial bacterial build up in your tank and filter.
If you put fish into your tank before it mature. Some fish cannot adapted to the new tank due to water parameters is not stable.
I remember last time i lost 20 guppies in one week because of that.

I don't have issue with anti chlorine. I bought my anti-chlorine from Jalan Pasar, Pudu. RM1 per bottle.
Sometime i just pour directly to the tank after water change. so far i don't see any bad effect to my fishes and shrimps.

i think around 4 to 5 months , well i think how the chlorine get in to the tank when i wash the plant with the tab water.......
