ok. this is for those who are using ur T8 tube flourescent lamp and wants to convert over to T5 lamp tubes. there is a way to do this without changing ur lamp fixtures(casing, stand).

U wud need:

1) T5 tube itself
2) conversion kit
3) Stainless steel tube holding clip( this is only for those casing that secures the bulb with a clip)

I just did this. and ordered the conversion kit. here with i'll attach the instruction on how the kit is installed. it cost me RM 28 each. i had 4 bulbs. so RM124 includind shipping. the price doesn't include the T5 bulbs. the bulb is RM35 each. so in total i spent about RM 264 and saved my 500 ringgit casings(fixture). same may feel it's costly. but for someone like me who don't wanna spend another RM500 on changing the whole casing, it's worth it. even if u change a new casing, it doesn't come with the 6500K bulbs. u still have to change bulbs. so, do the math. it may just work out for u too.

rm63 for kit+bulb?

how many feet tube?

*
my fixture is 4 feet. so, i'm guessing 3 feet tube. but tube i bought in East Aqua. the price was RM 35 for a 3 feet 6500K T5 tube. anywhere i can cheaper?

so yes, with the price above i think it's RM63 for kit and 3ft tube.

ok. since i'm getting lotsa useful infos in here.. theres another thing i was thinkin bout..

the eheim filter has different inlet and different outlet hose. inlet being 17mm and outlet being 13 mm.. is there anyway to make it standard to all 17 mm? any hose adapter i can find.. coz the one hardware shop is too big le.. cannot fit the 13 mm wan..

maybe this type would help.

Ista waterplant in-line CO2 diffuser
user posted image

i called up East Aqua, Ikano. And they said they can order it for me and the price is RM48. If anybody else is interested, i guess u can try calling them.

Added on July 16, 2010, 9:32 am@michanz

yesterday i went to light shop looking for T5 tubes. i found it. it had no brand and there was nothin printed on the cover. the sales person said it's cool daylight and it appears to be white in color. the wattage is 21W. nothin indicates that it's 6500K. the price in RM 10. U think i shud go for it?
