Final Fantasy is a different story. It has a certain quality.

I played FFXI way back in 2002, stopped and picked it up again in 2009.
It was still as refreshing as ever! FFXI has given me a "sense of achievement".
No other game commands you to do special quests to break the level cap, no other game pits you against your class to get the max level.
Aion has been a total horrible experience for me~ AND every game that revolves itself with PvP.
(Sorry, I've been through WoW, War, etc... all the same scenario, rebalancing skills took away the fun of the game, too much whines/cries/nerfs).

I already have enough "PvP" in real life, I dont need anymore playing my game tongue.gif
*
This only my assumption, WoW very popular in US because of PvP. I think this is because kids in US like to bully or got bully and let go their anger in games like this hehehehe. my 2 cent. rclxm9.gif

Pugilist
QUOTE
The path of the pugilist is one of the incessant training aimed at mastering the traditional techniques of hand-to-hand combat. Though they command formidable power when unarmed, they want to use metal, leather, and bone weaponry to maximize their destructive potential.
Their preference for fighting at close quarters makes negotiating distances an absolute necessity. Many among them accomplish this by using throwing weapons such as the chakram to momentarily daze their enemies while they move in for the kill.

Actually it's more or less the same with SEA server gamers. They like to bully in quantity on a small or single player.
It'll start with a little provoking among each other and start spamming vulgarish language upon each other's family member. When things starts to get abit ugly a pvp in inevitable. The grudge between this grp would nv end by slaughtering or hindering each other's gaming experience by pickin on their exp/farming mobs.

Well good thing is in ff, u can't target on a mob claimed by a player and u can nv pvp on the spot ^.^. And GM will really send the ones who started swearing regardless who started first into game jails. There will be no exception for gamers who tries to hinder other players in pting or farming session too ^.^

Speaking of gaming rigs, thankfully my 3 year old rig is decent enough to run FFXIV.

At standard requirements, I think its enough... dont want to spend any more since there's hardly any new games on PC nowadays that require such a high set-up.

starcraft 2 , diablo 3 ? and also ffxiv , that game alone warrants an upgrade on its own.

cant wait to lose myself in ffxiv , like my ffxi days

I'm not keen on Starcraft 2 or Diablo 3 after playing MHFU which gave me a new perception of what games should be.

FFXIV like yourself, I cant wait to lose myself in it too.

My spec is on my signature. Only problem is palit 1gb 460 plantinum sonic have not arrive.
And my psu still need to revise abit XD. Btw i'm still using the ancient winxp which may bottleneck my rig's setup w~.
For Palit i'll do abit of customin on the fans and probably buy some cheap heatsink to stick on the vram.

Btw don't get these spec frm the lowyat shops . I get the hardware directly frm sellers in lyn so it'll be cheaper alot.

hello i am from wow, played it 5 years, currently very sick of it. I am looking for a new MMO to dive into. FF14 looks very promising but there are a few areas that i am not so sure about.

here is a list of question that i have for FF14, please dont take this as a flame or any form of trolling, i just wanna know more about ff14:

1) some dude told me that all the boss in FF14 is 'outdoor type', meaning they spawn in the world at random or fixed time schedule. And there is no 'instance dungeon' like in wow. So basically from my experience in wow this means that rare-spawns and boss will be furiously contested upon by hundreds of player camping on spawn spots raining down AoE spells to attempt to 'tag' the boss as they spawn. is this true? or does FF14 run by a different mechanism that will allow players a FAIR amount of chance to let their skill level determine what their gear should be like instead of having to suffer through torrential amount of griefing/china-farmer monopolizing/etc etc to excel?

2) in FF14 i read that every toon can excel in any class/profession, wouldnt that means everyone will be loot-whoring and promote an extremely 'cut-throat' environment of personal greed? or is the loot system something like in Monster Hunter where loot is individual based?

Which dude say that? i think he meant FF 11 not 14, 14 has no much info on Boss raids, even bosses are not included into beta, How the hell he get such an info when I'm also a part of beta.

Sorry i have not test the party loot system but i will ask around later, What i know, once i tag a Monster, no-body is allowed to attack it unless that person is in my party. So this prevent people from kill-steal, but also rise a problem where people madly striking the monster first, which is first come-first serve basis(I don't really mind this part at all as it what make it a place of MMORPG). Once the monster is dead, the loot will go into a Loot table, there we can distribute to either discard or save into bag, or if you wait for a while, the loot will automatic goes into you bag.

anyway what ever i say here "MAY" change during release, as of they are still in closed beta.

As of now all loots will go into loot bag, where items will be distribute, if in party, the leader will distribute the item.

Frm my past experiences with ff11, i believe se will make it indoor type for boss raid.
But u'll need to do a whole shytload of stuff just to get these items to get into somesort of arena for the boss since everyone complains about the random spawn time in the past.
I might be wrong.
But i trust one thing, SE will nv make it easy for anyone interms of rewarding gears ^.^
It'll definitely be a time sink just to keep up to their pride of how hard the game is or how extreme it is.

Indeed, is not a place for people who want to spend easy time on games, that is SE, a real time-sink game smile.gif

I like the sense of exploration, coming from playing table-top RPGs.

I even prepared binders with empty pages to jot notes and details when I start FFXIV.

I hope they have house placement like the old days of Ultima Online XD..
It's the most unique feature that most mmorpg doesnt have(If u exclude vanguard).

Setting up a free forums is easy enough to do. The hard part is the up keeping - I'm not a techie. sad.gif
But it will be a good start to keep things in check and plan for parties/raids.

I have not been given the privilege to play FFXIV beta, so I'll be starting from scratch and I'll be researching websites for info.

haha anyone here good enough to borrow their beta account for me to test it on my pc =D?
So damn desperate that i installed back ffxi n played!..Today waited 3 hours n no party at all...around afternoon 5pm mostly japanese players online..
Well you can expect those epic gear will be easy to get..if that is the case they wont call epic gear ..
n for the random boss spawning time..i think it is good...if the time is fix..i swear u wont even get to see those bosses..they will be camp 24/7
instance dungeon bosses is good..but that will allow everyone to get the item which make that item not so epic anymore..i believe ff14 will have instance bosses and real world bosses.. The drop rate for instance bosses might be lower or not as good as the real world bossess...
Just my guessing from the ff11 experiences.
p/s i cant get my ff11 character to lvl 80 before ff 14 launch.. =/ crap!
