It is sad really. I am so interested in getting a Hilux, but the nighmare stories I keep hearing really makes me think twice. I remember the first time new Hilux came out, I went for test drive and the sales man told me the security system is similar to Camry, added with anti-tow. I wonder, why thieves don't go after Camry instead. Isn't it much more valuable.

Come on, any one from Toyota, stand up and take note.

Its the same scenario with the Old Storm, Ford ranger and etc...the problem is these cars fetch a higher resale value and easier to dispose @ the borders . Furthermore, the parts also fetch good price.

tats mitsubishi triton, using hyper common rail engine(DI-D), which is quite similar to toyota hilux D4-D tech, well, i do really like his interior especially the info meter, its rather nicer than fortuner as well, the exterior looks damn muscular n rugged, IMO, its actually nicer than the current hilux although i'm a fan of hilux, the current hilux body looks very bulky wif small tyre(if putting 16" rim would be perfect)....

hmmm...what u could do currently is put a backup alarm(yes-2alarms) which runs on batteries in case power is cut...besides that u could add a fuel cut switch...or if u have the cash...put a gsm/gps car tracking system...

but be warn, if car thieves fail to get ur car...they might be frustrated and burn down ur car/ destroy it

If the thieve or car hijacker really target to get your car...
You can't hide from it....
They will have many dirrerent ways..... to break in... or tow off...

All we can do is just to add more security thing to the vehicle to prevent the thieve from wasting time to get your car....
Car hijacker will think that it's wasting time to cut-off or deactivate all security thing to get your car, it's easier to get another car which has less security things...

It's not like we're driving mercs or anything..It's really annoying..

Yesterday there was an individual hanging around outside my place on his motorbike, I was wondering if he was targeting the hilux or not. So far always have to look back to see who's following me.

I don't think there are too many major 4x4 modifiers in this thread. It's a really expensive hobby. The best offroad vehicle is actually an old reliable 4x4 that you don't mind wrecking, a winch and a high lift jack. Everytime you go one one of your expeditions, need to send back to workshop and tighten all the bolts.

Any 2005 hilux user can help me to measure then height of ur headlamp projected?

just measure by using measuring tape and measure the height of the beam projected from ground to the brightest point that shine on ur measuring tape.If possible, put the measuring tape vertically exactly one feet away from the headlamp.

i adjusted mine but not really satisfy after that,so very appreciate ur help

heres my suggestion for avoiding ur 4x4 car from car hijacker n thief:

1. to avoid being tow by the thieves, engage 4L mode when u parked n steer ur front wheel to the left or right to the maximum point.

2. buy anti-carjack system, this system will shut down the fuel system to cut down the fuel running into the engine, if u dun press the security code when u start ur engine in 3-4min, of coz it will giv a warning sound first (in case u forgot to press the code) b4 the fuel stop running into the engine, like clifford intelli750. (although everytime haf to press code but its better than letting the car thief drive ur car away) tongue.gif

3. pedal lock and hood lock, usually the theives hi jack ur hood first to disable the car alarm system.

best alarm system for car IMO, i would say is clifford Avantgard5, cost RM4k+ for tat alarm system, include all features like remote start, anti carjack, shock sensor etc.... http://www.clifford.com/g5/sec_rs/default.asp thumbup.gif thumbup.gif

p/s: actually IMO the steering lock its kinda easy to settle, the whole steering can be take out easily n replace another one as a temporary n then wah la, here goes another car whistling.gif
