any advice with used 2.5 hilux year 2010 and above. current price around 40-50k
currently looking for one for work related on road + very minor off road.
have no experience with 4x4 engine and parts and what to look for.

1. check the milage
2. check the service records at Toyota service center
3. check with insurance for any accident
4. check with jpj/traffic for any accident/summons.
5. look for rust
6. make sure the engine bay not modified(unless stated by seller)
7. look for loose bolt and nut
8. test the 4x4 if it is working, those cost alot to fix
9. test drive to make sure the gearbox is okay

2. meet them ask if can check, just say you want to buy it/want to service at their place. usually you just give them the plate number and they will check the service record.
3. ask the insurance copy from the owner, check at any insurance seller(better if you know the insurance seller).
4. just make sure it is under the owner name not the vehicle
8&9. no problem but wear and tear bound to happen. manalah tau kalau ada masalah owner sanggup baiki sebelum jual.

Funny thing about my Hilux 3.0 vigo, i went for a dyno last week and the HP and Torque was way under paper specs, HP was under 80, and torque was around 160Nm. Have been driving it like this for 8 plus years.

The re-map brought it back close to the supposedly 160hp and 350Nm torque.

I'm told that dynos vary depending on which tuning shop one goes to, but after the re-map, the truck definitely goes a lot better.

I've always wondered why the truck was so underpowered for a 3 litre, but have stopped asking this question after a Toyota Service Centre mechanic said it was 'normal' when I complained that the acceleration and top end was kinda weak many years back. Only recently, I decided to go for a dyno to perk up the hp a bit and found out it had always been running below paper specs.

Hi guy, between Triton 2.4 A/T Premium & Hilux 2.4V. Which is best for the buck. Long term user not looking at resales value. But more to reliability and ease of use.

By the way, it end of the year not possible to get higher rebate? And true that Toyota Hilux hardly come with rebate??

Any best current promotion for both these model?
