Neither one of those are true kings of 4x4. That title still held by the Land Rover Defender.
Hilux and Ranger are dependable workhorse, altough their chassis has been around for ages. |

QUOTE(MK84 @ Apr 19 2005, 03:14 PM) Neither one of those are true kings of 4x4. That title still held by the Land Rover Defender. quite true. that box 4x4 is still the best. Or you could say the new Range Rover is better. Hilux and Ranger are dependable workhorse, altough their chassis has been around for ages. Hummer not in the list |

storm evo is not fuel economy wise, although its beauty is a killer, but look at his price, RM100k+, non ABS, non airbag... not really worth it loh....

for me .. king of 4x4 ... i personally like BMW X5
city driven 4x4 ?? go get yourself a 4 x 2 then the hilux got a stunning look ... but I dont think alot of modification can be done due to its technology ... If u seek for performance, frontier ranger |

I am also looking into a 4x4 Pickup Truck. City driving mostly. Due to the conditions of city road and the price factor of pickup, I think it is worth to consider.
Have test drive 3 models, Ford Ranger (auto) Nissan Frontier (manual) and Hilux (auto) Hilux Comfort is the BEST especially for city driving. Ranger and Frontier suspension a little bouncy. Price for manual is RM87K for manual while RM93K for auto. Please note, Toyota purposely left out the bedliner and sports bar, so please add aditional RM1500. Was afraid about the missing intercooler, but after asking friends about it, they say if intercooler is there, there is a need to install a turbo timer (to slowly cool down), especially when engine comes to a halt. Ford Hurricane Value for money comes with DUAL air bag, utility box (RM1K), Thule roof rack (RM1K). But it only comes in AUTO transmission. However value buy again cause Ford gicing out RM4K discount, so the price is RM91K. Whish they have a MANUAL version. Nissan Frontier Supposedly most powerful, but than again no need for power cause no doing off-road. Anyway, if I am not mistaken, the power is in its hp more for acceleration but straight line speed almost the same. Now with discount at RM1 so price is RM86K. Only manual. Exterior design is quite futuristic and comes with spray on bedliner which prevents rust alot better. Yet, I am still considering which to get. Make your mind quick cause by June price will change. Ford
No chance to visit showroom Mitsubishi No chance to visit showroom Nissan Small cabin space, lots of options, uses more fuel due to high horsepower, interior built for tahan lasak (not to nice), solid square body, spray on bed liner Hilux Using timing belt need to change every 80,000km (others timing chain), superb interior, no intercooler because using common rail (used in diesel cars by m.benz), low fuel consumption, 100horsepower. *from my point of view and said by the salesman* |

For Ford you need to look at older models for manual option.
c0c0nut, when u have the chance go for a test drive. That's the best way to decide. |
