QUOTE(bhtan @ May 30 2011, 04:57 PM) 8 to 10 downlights per room/area? You must have a very big house or you will go blind by the light! With LED with it not only blind you but will also bankcrupt you! Other than that, no issue. I feel that 6 inch downlight too big, not nice..so, i decided to use 4 inch...after decided, still very scared decision wrong...so.... anyway, thanks for your answer...

4" covered small area, 6" covered bigger area. But since you have 6-8 in a room, guess 4" will be good.
rule is 1.5 feets from wall and distance between two light around 3-4 feets...ask those light shop they will able to give you advice.

any sifus here using a China brand energy saving bulb named 亚明 (YaMing)?? They are the first company in China produce bulb in 1923.
The shop ppl keep on hard-sell this brand for the downlight. They did mention Osram recently have quality issue on the energy saving bulb.
For all my downlights, I am still thinking using PLC-E (screw type bulb with build-in electronic ballast) or PLC (pin type with external ballast). How is the electric consumption, and reliability??

hi all, im gonna fix some lights in my new apartment soon tight on budget so I need some advice here after reading some of the posts here
- I don't mind using kalimantang light but one thing I need to know, can those downlight produce brightness as bright as kalimantang ones? - Is 1 kalimantang = 2 downlight? - im more concern about the brightness as the apartment where I'm living now, the downlight is really dim and I always got problem reading or doing things in that kind of light.
Advices and recommendations really appreciated
Thx

Like to know the price of 1/2/5 feets cost too Get brand like GE, Philips, Osram and some good brand. Don't get the china unknown brand. Last i ask 4' is about RM 25, but this is after i brought nearly 1.4k of switches from them. Normal i think is around 28+- for 4' 28watt. The HO type is more expensive but not many people selling.
