Alternatively, just loop the lights that u want with a photo cell. Good for outdoor lights. Auto turn on when it gets dark. With normal switch u can turn off the lights at night when u don’t need it.

Yes, higher lm/W indicates the light operates more efficiently in terms of electricity to brightness.
These database is from ST, during I post processing the database, I do found out that there are quite some typing errors here and there.
Therefore some of the value might have error as well.
I recommend to cross check with manufacturer spec to double confirm the lm/W value if there is any.

Hello! Can sifus here advise if there is too much/little lighting based on layout below.
Should I add 8 downlight (as in purple) or should I just go without additional lights?

You mean Philips MASTER LED T8 tube?
This tube is mainly for commercial/industry/factory use, normal retail rarely carry this LED tube.
You still can buy but a bit hard, and this kind of LED tube not cheap also.

Its Philips T8 LED MASTER line. It is targeted for contractor and whatever lighting professionals it is. price around rm40/4ft tube.
One you see in shop usually Philips Ecofit line. Its not as efficient, low CRI and relatively low lifespan. But its really cheap at rm10/4ft tube.

You don't usually find MAS tube in retail store, but you can directly buy from distributor though.
I usually get my tube from this shop https://www.jllelectrical.com.my/
They don't impose minimum purchase unit, but there will be several days lead time before delivery or self collect.

hi guys,
i'm planning for my house reno and been reading on this thread.
Regarding the wiring, what does it mean looping and new wiring?
If i already have existing lighting point and i need to connect to 4 downlights? is this consider looping for 4 lights?

I have not engage my electrician yet, still doing my own homework at the moment...

LED won't just die instantly like traditional fluorescent lamp. But it slowly degrade to become less bright over time. Worry not tho, this process takes year to actually have visible effect.

For MAS series it is rated at 50,000 hours B50L70.
In layman words, if you install 100 of these lamps, and let it turned on 24H continuously;
after roughly 5 and half years, 50 of them will have their brightness reduced to 70% compared to its brand new light output.

why 70%?
70% reduction in brightness is industrial standard to determine end of life of LED lamp and just as good as broken.

Meanwhile Ecofit is rated for 15,000 hours. Means the statistics above is true for up to about 2 years for LED of this series.
About same as rated lifespan of ordinary fluorescent tube (Philips Lifemax) of 15,000 hours., except your LED lamp will just slowly dimming instead of abruptly fail.

Just be aware if you have low ceiling and planning to install MAS tube though, despite of consuming only 14w and having 'only' 2100lm nominal output, this lamp can get uncomfortably bright, due to LED's directional nature. If you have this kind of ceiling, you may want to do some experiment first.
If your ceiling is of 'standard' height or tall should be no problem.

Better just contact the owner directly via whatsapp. hes a pleasant guy.
ask for MAS LEDtube 1200mm 14W 865 T8 (or 840 for cool white, or 830 for warm white)

Correct, looping is when you spawn extra point, parallel from your existing wire.
It could be perfectly ok or desired even, or dangerous depending on many factors, like load, cable type and wiring design.

New wiring is pulling a new circuit from your distribution box.

hi guys,
i have a question on how to pull wiring across structural beam. I am planning to install plaster ceiling at the same level as the structural beam for my ground floor. There are some new cables/ wires/ LAN that I need to pull across the structural beam to loop lightings, new outlet, LAN connection etc. I understand that drilling a hole through the structural beam is not advisable, normally how would the electrician pull the cable through structural beam without damaging the beam?

Refer to the picture for info...

Lower your plaster ceiling. All u need is a clearance of around an inch aka 25mm for the wiring and cables to pass through under the beam. Don't think an inch lower will do much to the ceiling height clearance.
