QUOTE(chichichi @ Aug 2 2018, 11:53 AM) [attachmentid=9948990] Can the sifus here comment on the proposed lighting based on the drawings above? Blue is downlight (7wt) pink is eyeball (7w) Red is pendant light (above bar counter) and chandelier (above dining table) Black is tracklight Green is fan Yellow is light through Will my house light up like firecracker or is it under-lighted? Perhaps u should include the dimension/size of the living & dining room? Normally the supplier/installer will advice u based on size and lumen of the light accordingly. Also do take note of your ceiling fan size. Too near to pendant/chandelier will cause wobble effect.

Alternatively, just loop the lights that u want with a photo cell. Good for outdoor lights. Auto turn on when it gets dark. With normal switch u can turn off the lights at night when u don’t need it.

QUOTE(lencent @ Nov 12 2018, 09:58 AM) hi guys, i have a question on how to pull wiring across structural beam. I am planning to install plaster ceiling at the same level as the structural beam for my ground floor. There are some new cables/ wires/ LAN that I need to pull across the structural beam to loop lightings, new outlet, LAN connection etc. I understand that drilling a hole through the structural beam is not advisable, normally how would the electrician pull the cable through structural beam without damaging the beam? Refer to the picture for info... Lower your plaster ceiling. All u need is a clearance of around an inch aka 25mm for the wiring and cables to pass through under the beam. Don't think an inch lower will do much to the ceiling height clearance.

QUOTE(lencent @ Nov 12 2018, 05:48 PM) thanks, thought of that too, every inch is important for me now as i trying to avoid having a pelmet for my aircon Last option is to get a coring specialist, core through the mid of the beam. Likely u will core through the link but shouldn’t affect the integrity of the beam provided your core diameter is small, advisable 50mm or lesser. Main bars are at the top and bottom of the beam. Not practical due to high cost. Hacking or punching a hole through the beam using breaker or drilling hammer is a big no no. The vibration will affect the integrity of the concrete. Your call.
