Here's what I found - LUMENS/WATT CALCULATOR , hope it 'll help.  Every room has its own lighting requirements and, for example, the bedroom is quite special in this regard as well: your lighting has to be subtle, yet strong, and it needs to help you relax instead of making you feel like you’re under a spotlight. Installing lights is, therefore, a job for a professional and there are lots of lighting experts out there who can recommend the best option for your particular bedroom. A number of people from Australia, for instance, are contacting a reliable electrician from Sydney who inspects their homes and suggests the ideal lighting setup.

Thanks for the info!

hi guys,
if i have a 13A 240V source, does that mean that i can draw up to 3120Watt? i am calculating if i have sufficient wiring for my ceiling lights. Someone told me each wire can only support up to 6 LED lights but i am skeptical...

For light, MCB is only 6A. More than that, it will trip.

But that is more than enough for your whole house light in 1 point.

Thats 1440W, even with some contingency i think still more than enough for 10 LED downlights of 20W. Correct?

I was quoted Philips Marcasite 18W/1250 lumens (~70 lumens/watt) at ~RM45 per pc (for bulk purchase of 80 pcs) by one shop. Warranty 1 year, if I have not mistaken as I did not pay so much attention on warranty.

Then another shop offered me Osram Ledvance 15.5W/1400 lumens (~90 lumens/watt ... seems to be higher efficiency performance than Marcasite) for more or less same price with 2 years warranty (one-to-one exchange).

Anybody can share their experiences with Ledvance downlight?
Thanks.

what is the basic way to calculate how much lumens you need in a space?

say a living room size of 16 ft X 17 ft, how do you calculate?
*
Google bro.. I'm not a lighting specialist.

but generally there are guidelines on what the space usage = how many lumens you need. A work space and a rest space will be different.

Height of ceiling will affect as well.

12-13 units burnt out

some burnt out within a year with very light usage, less than 10 cumulative hours

most burnt out in 2 years with very light usage with less than 5 cumulative hours..

Cob type LED looks like this. It is more densely arranged into one unit and more narrow focus angle, good for spotlight or eyeball, as accent light. Good for wall grazing.

If wana achieve showhouse ID effect, need to master lighting type. Task light, accent light, ambient light.

I want install timer for my car porch lights. Was told by electrician can't do as the light switch has no neutral wire so can't use the usual Hager 711 timers. He suggest to use sensor instead....once it gets dark lights on. I prefer timer instead or sensor.

What other choices do I have for such situation?
*
im in the same situation also,
saw some sifu here mention about the sonoff wireless switch and im curently studying how to use it
this wireless switch has timer also and can control on off using app.
sonoff wireless switch

Sifu, want to ask the correct way to install this switch, the switch should be installed between the wall switch and the lights i assume?
so where is the ideal place to install the Sonoff switch? inside plaster ceiling? or beside DB box ?

I actually went the sonoff route....bought one locally (slightly expensive than ordering from China but I wanted it fast). Luckily my car porch lights' housing has enough space to contain the sonoff basic. Working fine now. Fairly easy to install and the app is easy enough to use. At least for me.

nice.. glad that it worked.
means by using Sonoff, you can actually turn on the car porch lights before you reach home ?
and the correct way is to contain the sonoff switch close to the lights?

Yes, I setup a schedule for on/off or I can manually toggle even before reaching home. Where you install it depends....it needs Neutral wire. it is just the size of an LED driver and so happens my lights has space to contain it.
