you can do it but the problem is the height, you may not be able to reach the switch
and also it wont look nice to splice like that. you also need to find a black cord with inline switch

buy wifi bulb more interesting - http://www.lazada.com.my/catalog/?q=xiaomi+wifi+bulb
can control the colors, can set timer, can on/off all using your smartphone

Well you can pull the cable just along the ceiling if you don't want to hack. Without hacking I will think is very cheap. Maybe RM30 x 8

Hard to tell. That is just light fixture, not including bulb of your choice.

But in living room you need round 300 lux. 400 lux if you read and write without assist of lamp.

300 lux roughly convert is 4-5 watt. The fixture use GU10 6 watt bulb x 4 units, definitely can cover living room.

GU10 Last I saw is RM 39.90 each at HomePro IOI City Mall.

Hi guys,

1)Normally where do u throw/recycle those downlight LED beacon? Especially got metal one. I know replace a new one is very cheap. Feel like very wasted dunno can repair or not by changing the bulb/LED only instead throwing the whole thing.

2)New downlight come with driver. My old driver is still ok and i just plug the beacon. What to do with the new driver? Keep alot in my drawer. Can sell?

No need to drill deep for light fixture. 1" depth should be fine I guess. The main concern is that you need to guess which way is the AC power line was routed to the lighting point. The standard practice is that the wire is laid in 0, 90, 180, 270 degree angle, not at odd like 45 degree.

Once you drill holes, put in suitable screw plugs and screw the light fixture. I thought the light fixtures normally come with their own screws. Any screw will do. If fixture need to be hooked, then use hook screw. If the fixture uses special bracket, just screw the bracket with normal screw.

I suppose you would be using round head metal type to go with screw plug

Dear sifu,

Sorry to bring up old thread.

My new condo is going to be ready soon and i'm planning for the lighting of my unit..below is my floor plan:
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

At the living room areas (size approximately 4m x 3m in the red box), I'm planning to install one of the light bulb shown in pic below for each point A and B:
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

For point B, the light near the entrance, I plan to install this:
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

As for point C, i plan to install a chandelier type of light at the dining area, havent decided the design of the light.

With the setup above, would it be bright enough for living room, dining and kitchen area as shown in the floor plan?

Went to Avalon Senawang, mostly downlight is LED type. Try ask those housing with bulb type, looks like no more selling. Is it really now everyone using LED type downlight only?
