ANYONE NOT IN LIST DESPITE POSTING ON THREAD PLEASE PM ME THANK YOU Also, kindly follow this format when posting: LYN Nick + Ingame nick + Char code + Region please Updated the FAQ to add in the posting format as well. FAQ Session (PLEASE refer this post before you spam the thread with regionlock/blizz sux/activision sux/shit no werk posts) Q: Where can i buy Starcraft 2? You may refer from IAH official website here: http://blizzard.iahgames.com/wheretobuy.html#_malaysia Additionally, you may purchase from others sellers on LYN or online stores. However it will be impossible to list all of them out here, and it would be biased to list just a select few. Please use the search function and/or follow through this very sc2 thread as the sellers themselves are also Active posters within this thread thank you. Q: How much is Starcraft 2 priced? A: For SEA region, it is priced MYR248. For US region, it is priced at USD60 (59.9 to be exact, but seriously, lol) Do note that sellers will be selling cheaper than the standard price to draw in potential buyers, and may or may not include freebies such as dog tags and/or t-shirts. Other than that, NO DIFFERENCE. Q: Is my computer able to support Starcraft 2? (aka the system requirements) A: The official System requirements is not 'quite yet' released, however based on the beta and tech support information, it is as follows: QUOTE PC Requirements PC Minimum System Requirements*: Windows® XP/Windows Vista®/Windows® 7 (Updated with the latest Service Packs) with DirectX® 9.0c 2.6 GHz Pentium® IV or equivalent AMD Athlon® processor 128 MB PCIe NVIDIA® GeForce® 6600 GT or ATI Radeon® 9800 PRO video card or better 12 GB available HD space 1 GB RAM (1.5 GB required for Windows Vista®/Windows® 7 users) DVD-ROM drive Broadband Internet connection 1024X720 minimum display resolution PC Recommended Specifications: Windows Vista®/Windows® 7 Dual Core 2.4Ghz Processor 2 GB RAM 512 MB NVIDIA® GeForce® 8800 GTX or ATI Radeon® HD 3870 or better *Note: Due to potential programming changes, the Minimum System Requirements for this game may change over time. Mac Requirements Mac Minimum System Requirements: Mac® OS X 10.5.8, 10.6.2 or newer Intel® Processor NVIDIA® GeForce® 8600M GT or ATI Radeon® X1600 or better 12 GB available HD space 2 GB Ram DVD-ROM drive Broadband Internet connection 1024X720 minimum display resolution Mac Recommended Specifications: Intel® Core 2 Duo processor 4 GB system RAM NVIDIA® GeForce® 9600M GT or ATI Radeon® HD 4670 or better Source: http://us.blizzard.com/support/article.xml...42&locale=en_US Q: I still do not know how much HDD space i should free despite reading the above A: It's ok, I will further elaborate: QUOTE The blizz sourced FAQ told you to free 12GB, and it is probably best that you at least have that much free space. Obviously, more is better as there are vram/pagefiles to factor in, as with save/cache data, and downloadable contents/maps. Q: Is Starcraft II region restricted? A: Yes Q: Is there any monthly subscription? A: For the SEA and US version, no. However there is an optional subscription based service for the Russian version and some other regions/versions. Q: If i wanted to play sc2 with my american friends on US server and local buddies on SEA server, Do i have to buy 2 copies? A: for the time being, yes. However blizzard has mentioned to allow cross region/servers playability few months down the road after release. Refer sources here and here. Q: Will Starcraft 2 work if i just copy and paste it on another machine without installing/patching again? A: Yes. As starting from Blizzard's World of Warcraft, and now Starcraft 2 they no longer rely on Windows Registry. Ideally, it is recommended to complete your patching and confirm that your sc2 is able to run/login before copying to another machine. Q: If i just started the beta now, will i need to patch from the beginning? A: Yes and no, starting phase 2 there is a large "cumulated" patch so you'll kinda be patching just that patch. Alternatively, you may get external patch download mirrors that support segmented DDLs as SC2 default patching is torrent based with a blizzard server as the main seed (which is compatible to people that have torrent issues, however speeds may not be ideal) update: it is confirmed that you start from patch 16 cumulated patch for phase 2 if you just downloaded/installed a fresh copy of SC2 Q: Can i leave the patching process overnight as i just started the beta/game and have to download from the very first patch? A: Yes. The patching process is automated and will patch the game from beginning till current latest version. Q: Can i install Starcraft 2 on multiple machines? eg: install on both PC and laptop A: Yes. Your copy of starcraft 2 cd/product key merely allows you to "add" the game into your Battle.net account. And the key will be forever died to that account. In other words, it doesn't matter how many machines you install Starcraft 2 on, so long you have your b.net account added sc2 game with a valid cdkey, it will work. Q: Will the future Starcraft 2 Expansions (Heart of the Swarm 'zerg' & Legacy of the Void 'protoss') run without the original first (Wings of Liberty)? A: FFS, you might want to ask it when the time comes as Blizzard haven't release much, if any details about them. Though if anything, considering the past blizzard titles such as Diablo 2. World of Warcraft, Warcraft 3 etc, Yes the original will be required. Q: Can i be added to the player list please? A: Sure, kindly follow this format: LYN Nick + Ingame nick + Char code + Region Thank you. Q: Can i change my player/nick name? (such as registering a new nick name/account like we could on warcraft 3/diablo2) A: No. Once you put in your in game char name it will be permanent. You WILL NOT be able to change it later. As there are currently no plans to offer a name changing service, please be careful and be certain of your choice in names. Q: What is a Character code? A: It is a random unique non duplicate code to identify people in the event of same/similar nick name, and it can be found via hovering your mouse over your own name/profile area. Q: What is the difference of RealID friend and Normal Friend on your friends list? A: RealID requires acceptance from the targeted friend before you can form RealID friends. It shows their Real Life names, able to link to other Blizzard games such as World of Warcraft, and even social networking sites such as Facebook. Where else a normal friend adding only requires you to add the person (by simply right clicking the person's name > and add to friends) , and only the nick name will be showed without any of the added functionalities that RealID offers similar to the one you have on Starcraft 1/Warcraft 3 battle.net. QUOTE(MYNAMEISJASON @ Jul 3 2010, 12:52 AM) The only problem is that I've already completed most of the THQ games you listed by borrowing them from friends (one of my friends bought the DoW set from popular while the other bought the super cheap CoH series from another book store, I also own an ori copy of titan quest+expansion), I've never really played SOTSE and Civ though as I would really prefer to play something much much faster due to the bad bad influence of Starcraft cause I always play at 150-200 apm and playing an slow RTS just feels really really odd to me, I have a copy of tropico though. Dude, Support original games and repent on your sins. Even those games you have played before. |

Anyone knows where to get the East Asian version of the game? Preorder or hardcopy.
Or isit only available from blizzard download as per Korea version. Also, did anyone mention there's a freaking 12-hr countdown to the launch of the game, hosted by Day9 and DjWheat? Sauce. |

QUOTE(talexeh @ Jul 6 2010, 11:15 PM) Beta might be OK but you'll have to consider the amount of players Bnet2 gotta handle once the game is released. Warcraft 3 and Starcraft was fine and WoW players said that was is fine too, based on all these past experience I have my confidence on US servers from my current connection. |

QUOTE(Gormaz @ Jul 7 2010, 10:28 AM) Bnet forums to request for REAL names Getting real."Big news for Battle.net users, and possible important implications for net privacy as a whole, via this posting from Blizzard: Anyone posting or replying to a post on official Blizzard forums will be doing so using their Real ID — that is, their real-life first and last name — with the option to also display the name of their primary in-game character alongside it. These changes will go into effect on all StarCraft II forums with the launch of the new community site prior to the July 27 release of the game, with the World of Warcraft site and forums following suit near the launch of Cataclysm. Certain classic forums, including the classic Battle.net forums, will remain unchanged. " |

You also need to remember that for Wow you usually have a credit card linked to the sub (even if you pay with time card I think, I always paid with CC but I remember you need to enter CC info before you can open account) and I doubt pretty much you have given bogus info to your bank right? ^^ I never had to contact Blizz support myself while playing Wow but some of my guildies had a lot of troubles to prove they were the original owner of the account after being hacked if the info they had inside the account was not 100% correct and valid. I know at least one guy who couldnt get back his account at all since it was originally an account given to him by someone else and he didnt change some of the details. Byebye 3 years of wow gaming and multiple high level characters. Was a bit of the guy's fault really but still quite painful. They might ask for pictures of the key cd receipt put together with an IC or something showing your name for example. To prove that this cd belongs to this person in real life. I think that if you have a perfect fake ID you can remember it might work, but then it does become an hassle for what is after all only a video game in my opinion. |

I guess thats a problem for WoW players however I guess for SC2 players loosing your account isn't as big of a deal compared to WoW. Worst comes to worst you loose your 60 USD. But still as to what you say its really a hassle, and yes they can ofcourse keep track of you through your Credit Card, which reminds me that I will never ever buy stuff from Bnet. Thank the electrons that we do not have to pay blizzard employees monthly for SC2.You also need to remember that for Wow you usually have a credit card linked to the sub (even if you pay with time card I think, I always paid with CC but I remember you need to enter CC info before you can open account) and I doubt pretty much you have given bogus info to your bank right? ^^ I never had to contact Blizz support myself while playing Wow but some of my guildies had a lot of troubles to prove they were the original owner of the account after being hacked if the info they had inside the account was not 100% correct and valid. Yar, the more I think of this RealID stuff, the less I like it.
People can go stupid or mental about video game, ESPECIALLY blizzard games like Wow or SC2. I can totally expect some people to get beaten up (or worse...) in real life if they beat someone else, win some loot over someone else or whatever in a video game... |

You got it all wrong, now, Blizzard gonna reveal your real name on their forums, as a "solution" to all the trolling and flaming. There is no way to hide your real name on their forum, unless you dont post there.
Stop sucking up with all the shit that Blizzard is putting. |

So you are saying that from the character name, people cannot link it to your realID (basically your real name)? Like let's say my character name is Miluna, my realID name is Gormaz. The guy see Miluna in the game, he can't find that the realId associated to Miluna is Gormaz by looking at the armory/forums or whatever? I am sincerely asking here because it could make a big difference. And what about in SC? Same? You use some "character" ID that people cannot link back to your RealID? This is a terrible idea, I'm pretty sure there's a solution called "Moderators".

QUOTE(H@H@ @ Jul 7 2010, 05:52 PM) I think you're misunderstanding the situation here. WRONG: ur forum shows ur firstname/ lastname and your main IGN, not ur bnet name/ ID... as i said ur bnet would always be protected... u just need to login wit ur bnet (which is the case now since most of the things u do wit blizzard requires u to login with ur bnet ID)Blizzard isn't just extending the current implementation of RealID to the whole of Battle.net. They're altering it so that when you post in forums, your first/last names will be shown So, whatever experience you currently have with this system is not a valid argument for the new one, which suffice to say, we don't have much info on yet. "The first and most significant change is that in the near future, anyone posting or replying to a post on official Blizzard forums will be doing so using their Real ID -- that is, their real-life first and last name -- with the option to also display the name of their primary in-game character alongside it. These changes will go into effect on all StarCraft II forums with the launch of the new community site prior to the July 27 release of the game, with the World of Warcraft site and forums following suit near the launch of Cataclysm. QUOTE(SyokVPN @ Jul 7 2010, 05:58 PM) see post number Post #173what i've mentioned are not guesses... its the combination of the FAQ and wut i've experienced... the FAQ http://kr.battle.net/realid/faq.html as i've said, most of the proposed bnet system? large part of them are already inplemented in WoW and accepted How will I become Real ID friends with another player? Both players must first mutually agree to become Real ID friends. To send a Real ID friend request to another player, simply enter his or her Battle.net account name (an email address) using the Add Friend function in-game. The other player will see the pending request in their friends list, and if they accept, you will become Real ID friends with each other. Will Battle.net inform me if I enter an invalid Battle.net account name when I send a Real ID friend request? A player who sends a Real ID friend request will only be notified if the other player accepts the request. To protect the privacy and security of all of our players, the requesting player will not be notified if the email address entered is an invalid Battle.net account name or if the other player declines the request. What’s a World of Warcraft friend or StarCraft II friend? A World of Warcraft friend is any player you add to your friends list by World of Warcraft character name; this works just like adding friends works in World of Warcraft now. You will be able to add StarCraft II character names to your StarCraft II friends list in a similar fashion. If you add a character name to your friends list and are not Real ID friends with the player, you will not see the player’s real name in the game, nor will they see yours. Character-level friends such as these are specific to each game (i.e. World of Warcraft character friends cannot see each other in StarCraft II or communicate cross-game) and can see online and offline status information only, not Rich Presence details or Broadcast messages. Other characters that a World of Warcraft friend creates will not automatically be added to your friends list. What information about me will other players see in-game if I do not use Real ID? If you are not using Real ID, only the in-game character name and online/offline status of the character you are playing will be visible to other players, and only within that game. Will my Battle.net account name (email address) be visible to Real ID friends or on the forums? No. Your Battle.net account name (email address) is never displayed to Real ID friends, either in-game or on the forums. Furthermore, no personal information beyond your real name is shared with any other player at any time. How will Real ID be integrated with the official forums? Beginning in mid-July, players who post on official Blizzard forums will be doing so using their Real ID -- that is, the real-life first and last name associated with their Battle.net account. In addition, players also will have the option to display the name of their primary in-game character (plus related in-game information such as guild and realm) alongside their real name. You’ll also begin seeing blue posters (i.e. Blizzard employees) posting by their real first and last names on our forums as well. These changes will go into effect on all StarCraft II forums with the launch of the new community site prior to the July 27 release of the game, with the World of Warcraft site and forums following suit near the launch of Cataclysm. Certain classic forums, including the classic Battle.net forums, will remain unchanged. What information about me will other players see when I use Real ID? If you are using Real ID, your mutual Real ID friends, as well as their Real ID friends, will be able to see your first and last name (the name registered to the Battle.net account). You will also be able to see the first and last name of your Real ID friends and their Real ID friends. Your Battle.net account name (your email address) is not displayed to other players through the Real ID friends list. In addition, players with Real ID relationships will be able to view each other's online status, Rich Presence information, and Broadcast messages, and will be able to see which character and game their Real ID friends are playing across supported Blizzard games. Well, let's not go into bickering anyway, let's way to see how it's implemented.
But it's definitely something that makes me uneasy.... |

Ok, we're clearly arguing with differing opinions.
It doesn't really matter whether its in their privacy agreement or not. We are arguing solely on whether its a good move or not. No one here is actually accusing Blizzard of doing anything illegal. We're just not happy with this as it is an invasion of ppls privacy just to accomplish a rather unachievable goal. Added on July 7, 2010, 6:20 pm QUOTE(evofantasy @ Jul 7 2010, 06:18 PM) cause i chose not to reveal it on LYN? Just because you choose to show little regard for your own privacy, doesn't mean others have to do the same. And at the end of the day, it was *you* yourself that posted those things. I don't find anything wrong with it. This might not be a good example, but take it like you're entering a foreign country. You either provide them your passport with your full name & photo in it or you risk GTFO.
It's the same on the forum & it's for the same reason. People are hiding behind their anonymity to perform all kinds of mischief, trolling & con. Of course, you can choose not to post in the forum, hence saving you all this trouble but again, how many times did you shout "it's privacy invasion" when you're at the immigration? Of course, I really do doubt the EFFECTIVENESS of such move but what I don't get is the commotion you guys are having. As mentioned by Blue, you have the option not to link your IGN ID so it's not really like a passport where your name have to match your photo. Did you provide your full name when you register at local bank or local mobile service provider? Well, guess what? They do share your info around & I didn't see anyone going FFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUU or doing anything about it other than ranting about it in /k/. Let's face it, your real life name is not a good identifier in the first place. Take a good look in our local telephone directory. Why did no one shout the same since the address & phone# is inside as well? Label me as sucking up to Blizz or whatever (even if I say I'm not, you guys are still gonna say I am anyway), but you're basically arguing over something that most of you never use as well. How many of you have ever touched Bnet forum? Hands up. It has come to the situation where I seriously think BW v2 is really what Blizz should have come up with to end all these rantings. Is it that hard to accept that?after all its not a unique identifier of any means... i do regard my privacy, i know what i should reveal and what i should not reveal as well as where to reveal them... i dun allow facebook apps to reveal my profile and adjusted them via the privacy settings... Having your real name known can be a real kick in the nuts depending on the situation your in. Like how if someone finds out your real name (Which may be very unique) and then discovers that you're an avid blogger who just wishes to keep gaming and blogging as separate entities... That's no longer possible. Anonymity IS optional but it should be at the hands of the individual, not some company who wants to keep their forum clean. Its the same reason why it is *MY* right to walk around *NOT* having to wear a nametag with my name on it. |

Not everyone is like you, not everyone has the same respect or need to have that much (Or little) privacy as you. Is it that hard to accept that? put it this way: if u dun like it, do not accept the 'agreement' regarding ur privacy information. FULL STOPHaving your real name known can be a real kick in the nuts depending on the situation your in. Its the same reason why it is *MY* right to walk around *NOT* having to wear a nametag with my name on it. simple rite? when in rome, do wut the romans do... Added on July 7, 2010, 6:38 pmagain from the blue post (as well as by telexeh) "with the option to also display the name of their primary in-game character alongside it" no one force u to associate ur game IGN into ur forum post... thus no one is stopping u from playing the game without revealing ur personal information... Added on July 7, 2010, 6:39 pmanother blue post by Bashiok "One important point which I don't believe has been relayed yet is that the switch to showing RealID on the forums will only happen with the new forum systems we're launching for StarCraft II shortly before its release, and a new forum system for World of Warcraft launching shortly before the release of Cataclysm. All posts here on the current World of Warcraft forums, or any of our classic Battle.net forums, will remain as-is. They won't (and can't) automatically switch to showing a real first and last name. All posts in the future on the new forum systems will be an opt-in choice and ample warning will be given that you're posting with your real first and last name." again, NO ONE IS FORCING IT... in \k\ style, "u tak suka, u keluar" or "if u dun like it, dun join it"... its now everything that u can eat the cake and have the cake This post has been edited by evofantasy: Jul 7 2010, 06:43 PM |

QUOTE(talexeh @ Jul 7 2010, 06:29 PM) I don't find anything wrong with it. This might not be a good example, but take it like you're entering a foreign country. You either provide them your passport with your full name & photo in it or you risk GTFO. You can't compare entering a country / handling account / mobilephone with going into an online forum. Both too different to compare. |

QUOTE(kianweic @ Jul 7 2010, 06:44 PM) You can't compare entering a country / handling account / mobilephone with going into an online forum. I've to agree that it's not really an accurate comparison but what I'm trying to highlight here is the apparent phobia of identity crisis among some of us here. Both too different to compare. I also have to agree that from the look of it, I sincerely think that this is not an effective method but we've yet to see how it goes so I'll reserve my opinion about it. The reason I'm using the entering-foreign-country example is due to what I believe to be Blizz's attempt at policing the forum to prevent as much undesirable element / content as possible, which kinda fit the metaphor that I provided earlier. But again, most of the hoo-haa here is not about the effectiveness. It's about the fear of revealing too much of yourself in the Bnet forum. Maybe I should put these up in point form for easier comprehension. 1. For your realID to be displayed in the open in the first place, you need to post something. But how many of us has posted something in the troll-infested Bnet forum in the past? 2. Fine, you may not have posted before but you might do so in future. But allow me to ask, what exactly do you fear when all you're going to reveal is your first & last name? That someone might implicate you of wrongdoings in the forum? Does that mean that you're seriously planning to troll / con in the new Bnet forum? 3. Again, if you're saying that revealing your first & last name will somehow allow some strangers to look for you IRL, what is the chance of that happening? I would like to refer to the inappropriate (I still think it's a related example) telephone directory where you can clearly see almost all applicants' address & telephone#. Let's say you've lost contact with an old friend of yours who have moved to Kedah but you're not sure which area he's staying at. You open up the book & search for his name, only to see 245 applicants with the same name. What?! You're gonna have to call each & every single one of them just to look for your friend but what is the chance of someone doing so in the first place? It's quite a hassle & troublesome, no? What I'm trying to show here is that having just the first & last name as a search criteria is not very sufficient to pinpoint the right person. I repeat again, I'm not trying to prove that realID is a good solution to the trollings (if this is indeed what Blizz is trying to eliminate) but it's the rantings among us about having the realID revealed in forum. Peace out. This post has been edited by talexeh: Jul 7 2010, 07:27 PM |

Rumor: StarCraft II boxed copies out in the wild?
Posted Jul 7th 2010 7:00AM by John Callaham Filed under: Culture, Multiplayer, RTS, Starcraft II While StarCraft II isn't supposed to go on sale until July 27 it appears that boxed copies of Blizzard's highly anticipated sci-fi RTS game have found their way to at least a few people. GameVideos.com has posted up a video (which was originally found on a Chinese web site) that appears to show the contents of the Collector's Edition of the game being examined by someone who is clearly not a Blizzard employee. The video also shows said person attempting to install the game on his PC but is unable to do so due. It looks like Blizzard's DRM set up is locking out people who get the game early and try to install it until the July 27 launch date. However we do have to wonder how long it will be before pirated copies of StarCraft II start showing up on the internet. |

The problem with this real name implementation is, even with just your full name, people can easily find out other private information that is not suppose to be seen. Just imagine that person who is looking at it is your future employee that doesnt like gamers.
Someone actually posted his real name on one of the Blizzard fansite, SC Legacy. 5 minutes later, someone found his facebook. 6 minutes later, someone found his sister's facebook, and the exact district, state and country of where he lives. Then, 30 minutes later, someone dig up loads of information about him like a video of his mum vacuuming the house, his interest and so on. If someone is determine enough, they can dig up a lot of information about you, easily. I even saw someone put up a link where you pay a site to stalk people online. Im not comfortable with this, as the name alone, i dont really care, but the other stuff that they could easily google them, im not ok with it. Maybe First Name will do, as it isnt that bad. Last Name would make things a lot easier for stalkers, especially those with rather unique names. Not everyone's name is John Smith. |

Well, I survived in LowYat net since 2007 without being beaten up or gotten the chance to retaliate (in real life). So it's proof that even with your real name, you probably won't get screwed. You probably more likely get screwed in Facebook than in forums. |

Thou it looks nothing for revealing your real name, but it's still a form of privacy invasion set up by Blizzard.
YES, the more reason to stay away from the game. |

QUOTE http://www.gamona.de/games/activision-blizzard,blizzards-bashiok-ist-erstes-opfer-der-real-id:news,1769743.html Rough translation/summary: In order to defend the new Real-ID feature for BNet 2.0, community manager Bashiok posted his real name on the SC2 forums. Within minutes users were able to get information not only on his CV, but his telephone number, address, age and preferences as well. In addition, they were able to publish his wifes name, that of his cohabitants and the name of his childrens school. To top it of they found a picture of his house via Google Street View. Bashiok has already canceled his twitter account. No risk of privacy issues my ass. Fantastic, keep up the good work Blizzard This post has been edited by MYNAMEISJASON: Jul 7 2010, 10:20 PM |

QUOTE(MYNAMEISJASON @ Jul 7 2010, 10:17 PM) This is to be expected since he associated his Bnet nick Bashiok to his realID. It's not that hard once we found someone with slightly the same name & related to Blizzard. Like mentioned in the Blues post, you have the option of not including your IGN with your realID in the forum. To reveal your name without concealing the fact that you're a mod of one of the most troll infested forums, Bashiok must have balls... or lack of brain juice. I believe we've been aware of the power of these stalkers all these while, no? |

@evofantasy,
Let me tell you, our privacy is always protected. WHY? It's because somewhere, someone who might have grudge on you, OR just to troll you, likewise in our DEAR KOPITIAM SECTION, will dig up A WHOLE LOTS of information on you and posted it out public, either to make fun of you, or whatever. Ok, let's say that if you don't really care about it. What about your wife? your sister? Your parents? your friends? They all might get mocked up, just because your information WENT PUBLIC. You lack of some thinking, boy. |

With all these arguments, I think it's appropriate to come to a conclusion that different people perceive private information in different manner.
For me & evo, having people know our real name is nothing while to some of you, it is something. Just like Facebook where you still see someone with xXxUchihaSasukexXx while some with their real name. It's all a matter of how you set the line on how much you're willing to reveal to the outside world. GG no re. |

QUOTE(talexeh @ Jul 7 2010, 06:29 PM) I don't find anything wrong with it. This might not be a good example, but take it like you're entering a foreign country. You either provide them your passport with your full name & photo in it or you risk GTFO. hey, thats the kinda shit i am getting throughout the threads. wanna hold hands or something? wwwwwwIt's the same on the forum & it's for the same reason. Hands up. It has come to the situation where I seriously think BW v2 is really what Blizz should have come up with to end all these rantings. btw im against the real ID thing. lol |

Or just ask how majority of US Battle.net players how they feel about us, they had countless discussions on Battle.net Forums years back, regarding the Malaysia and SG gamers. QUOTE(talexeh @ Jul 7 2010, 10:49 PM) With all these arguments, I think it's appropriate to come to a conclusion that different people perceive private information in different manner. The problem is, not everyone is comfortable with sharing information online, as you'll never know who will be looking at those information, especially female gamers which seem to be extremely rare. It could be your employee, your wife to some psychopath looking at those information. For me & evo, having people know our real name is nothing while to some of you, it is something. Just like Facebook where you still see someone with xXxUchihaSasukexXx while some with their real name. It's all a matter of how you set the line on how much you're willing to reveal to the outside world. GG no re. It could be ok for you to put your real name online, i, for one, im not comfortable with it,even on my own Facebook, as Mark Zuckerberg is quite infamous for leaking out private information to anyone or doesnt care about your privacy on Facebook. Internet isnt a place to store private information, IMO. I rather keep them on a piece of paper than on the net. As it was shown, anyone could easily dig up tonnes of information easily, not just about you, also about your friends and family. I dont want to see my family involved in something unpleasant due to some of my posts arguing about some epic loot in the new Battlenet forums. The way Blizzard is doing seems pretty much asking some murder over some loot to happen. Maybe just first name, but hide the surname, or maybe some other could work. Or maybe give us an option to hide the name, and only show the Battlenet nick name. Showing Battlenet nick name isnt as bad as compulsory to show your first and last name on every single post you make on the forums. What happens if Blizzard extent it to the rest of the Battlenet, as it seems like a good idea to Blizzard. To be honest, what Blizzard is doing now, with all these Real ID thing, doesnt seem like a well thought out decision. It also resembles a lot with MW2's no dedicated server issue, as the reasoning Blizzard is putting, doesnt make any sense and it looks like, they just dont care. As they just gonna lose some, and gain much more. Just like MW2, "whiny" "dedicated server lovers" hardcores are either staying in CoD4 or move on to other games like BFBC2. This could happen again. Could be a good opportunity for the new Star Wars MMO or Warhammer 40k MMO. Also, 10000+ post in less than 24 hours, wow, they are pissed. Added on July 8, 2010, 2:39 amhttp://kotaku.com/5581209/blizzards-real-name-forum-policy-has-fans-in-an-uproar Something from Kotaku. The reasoning behind the real id is decent: To make you think before you post, but the problem is, is it at the expense of your privacy? No, the Real ID for forum is NOT OPTIONAL.
Btw, here's what I extracted from one of the poster there. QUOTE I, The poster. Am at least one of the following. - a woman - a minor - a member of an ethnic minority - a person of alternative sexuality - a transgendered person - a person with a unique/uncommon name - a person who has been harassed/stalked - a person in an information-sensitive profession - a person who may be Google searched by co-workers/employers/potential employers - a person who may be Google searched by mates/potential mates - a person who is concerned about account security - a person who is uninterested in online social networking - a person with a small child / children - a person who does not fit any of these categories but who is nonetheless concerned for him/herself or for the welfare of others and I oppose RealID for one or more of these reasons: - It is a threat to personal safety. - It is a threat to personal security. - It will not eliminate/significantly reduce trolling. - It should be optional; choosing between risk and silence is not truly “optional”. - Unified tags/handles provide the same effect with minimal risk. - World of Warcraft is not Facebook. If this decision persists, I will do one or more of the following: - Refrain from posting on these forums. - Seriously reconsider my subscription. - Cancel my subscription - Prepare to cancel my subscription should RealID be made mandatory in-game. I LOL-ed HARD |

It gets damn messy when you are talking to a few friends at the same time. |

Xeno, I think you've to replay a few games to familiarize yourself with the change to Terran's unit-producing macro before you enter the tournament... unless you've been placing buildings with different add-ons on different hotkey all these while.

QUOTE(Quazacolt @ Jul 9 2010, 04:34 PM) Previously if you group Reactor-Rax together with TechLab-Rax, you'll need to use the Tab key to switch between these 2 types of Rax. Now, Tab is no longer required hence if you have a Reactor-Rax + a TechLab Rax & you hit A 3 times, both Raxes will be training Marines. Kinda F up Terran gameplay, IMHO. |

QUOTE(talexeh @ Jul 9 2010, 04:43 PM) Previously if you group Reactor-Rax together with TechLab-Rax, you'll need to use the Tab key to switch between these 2 types of Rax. Now, Tab is no longer required hence if you have a Reactor-Rax + a TechLab Rax & you hit A 3 times, both Raxes will be training Marines. Kinda F up Terran gameplay, IMHO. Yeah I still prefer that old tab system, when I was playing I only realised the stupid tabing, I think its more inconvenient. Hello everyone,
I'd like to take some time to speak with all of you regarding our desire to make the Blizzard forums a better place for players to discuss our games. We've been constantly monitoring the feedback you've given us, as well as internally discussing your concerns about the use of real names on our forums. As a result of those discussions, we've decided at this time that real names will not be required for posting on official Blizzard forums. It's important to note that we still remain committed to improving our forums. Our efforts are driven 100% by the desire to find ways to make our community areas more welcoming for players and encourage more constructive conversations about our games. We will still move forward with new forum features such as conversation threading, the ability to rate posts up or down, improved search functionality, and more. However, when we launch the new StarCraft II forums that include these new features, you will be posting by your StarCraft II Battle.net character name + character code, not your real name. The upgraded World of Warcraft forums with these new features will launch close to the release of Cataclysm, and also will not require your real name. I want to make sure it's clear that our plans for the forums are completely separate from our plans for the optional in-game Real ID system now live with World of Warcraft and launching soon with StarCraft II. We believe that the powerful communications functionality enabled by Real ID, such as cross-game and cross-realm chat, make Battle.net a great place for players to stay connected to real-life friends and family while playing Blizzard games. And of course, you'll still be able to keep your relationships at the anonymous, character level if you so choose when you communicate with other players in game. Over time, we will continue to evolve Real ID on Battle.net to add new and exciting functionality within our games for players who decide to use the feature. In closing, I want to point out that our connection with our community has always been and will always be extremely important to us. We strongly believe that Every Voice Matters, ( http://us.blizzard.com/en-us/company/about/mission.html ) and we feel fortunate to have a community that cares so passionately about our games. We will always appreciate the feedback and support of our players, which has been a key to Blizzard's success from the beginning. The Week in Review: Let's See Your ID
![]() QUOTE Blizzard may have shrugged off coordinated community discontent in the past, but this week, we weren't talking about LAN support in Starcraft II. It was, instead, the MMO maker's decision to put everyone's real name on their forum messages. Announced Tuesday, Blizzard's new policy would have displayed the real name of Battle.net account holders posting to the Starcraft forums and, soon, World of Warcraft would follow suit. An instant, constant, and overwhelming backlash forced Blizzard to capitulate by week's end. Swamped by waves of complaints about privacy and exposure, thousands made clear their vow to cancel their accounts rather than participate under these terms. And unlike disappointment in a game's features, or lack thereof, it was a threat with teeth. Perhaps something must be done about the inevitable degradation and damage done by a community populated by those whose anonymity makes them impossible to be held accountable. But here Blizzard plainly picked the wrong fight. PC gamers, not to stereotype, but culturally speaking they don't usually sign whatever comes under the door without reading it. And hardcore video gamers by nature have flags up for any unilateral action by a publisher. So if the Internet is going to be made safe for polite people, maybe it should start somewhere other than video games. Yahoo! Sports' comments are unbearably ignorant. YouTube's should just be deactivated by default. In this short-lived blowup, we may not have learned anything about what is a right, what is a privilege or what is a responsibility - such topics are almost beyond consensus and wouldn't be solved in four days anyway. What we did learn is that gaming communities do not have an impotent voice. And whether you agree, disagree or can't be bothered with what's going on, this week one told a publisher this subject was an absolute nonstarter, period. And got its way. Source: Kotaku |

QUOTE(khyron @ Jul 12 2010, 11:01 AM) It just allow you to play on different region's server, like if you own the SEA copy, you only can play on the SEA server that is located at SG, run by IAH Games. You cant change region, as it's region locked, at least for the first few months. Other than that, the game is pretty much the same. |

QUOTE(Moonflown @ Jul 12 2010, 09:22 PM) well i do have my own BO and placement...usually in phase 1 i dun build/ ramp block but i do it at my expansion... i go for 10pylon 10gate then a 2nd gate moments after that... it would take 2 zealots to close it... its different BO and strat... i've already adapted my 2 gate to the new changes... i rather do early pressure in PvZ and then expand... |

QUOTE(evofantasy @ Jul 13 2010, 03:16 AM) just saw this vid, quite honestly, besides the hyped storm calls by husky, its quite a let down. not to mention that premature quit that was a total let down as husky himself also said the terran could've won.seriously, dalai had so MANY chance to completely seal the deal. having BC or thors and/or nuke harrasses would completely throw the ALREADY contained whitera further into disarray. and whats with the 10k minerals? whats with the 90 workers but supply blocked and not pumping army? whats with the LACK OF ORBITAL COMMAND USAGE? SCANNNSSSS SCANNNNNSNSSSS man hearing that on comment really pains me a little. and wheres the quick supply drop to unblock himself when he was pinned? gosh. i could've listed down many more things, but sigh. huge let down. that said, whitera played well. albeit unfortunate at the beginning which net him the shit of a situation he was in whole game. but then again, he could've lost there and then, but dalai went fail. :/ |
