btw, any chance you toyed enough with the deleo?
is the direct streaming good enough with unifi vip5, vip10?
will a 720p ac3 file come out nicely? 1080p dts?
delayed buying deleo due to it not having an rca digital audio ouput which i need for an old receiver.
and hdd prices, ext or built in now increased so much, some shops raised 30%!
*
boxb, any comment on the above?
i tried my pohd again with unifi vip10. pohd hardwired to router, pc wireless to router.
stream pc file wireless to router-pohd: 720p dts 5.1 and lower files - perfect, no sweat. 1080p dts 5.1, stutter, glitches, no good.
will veleo be the same or do a better job?

good news is that i tested my old avr with the optical toslink for audio, works find with the pohd.
i had never tested it but been uisng the coaxial digital all these years. (this connection is not found in mini or veleo.)
but since veleo has optical, it'll be fine, i can now revisit the veleo.
any chance a veleo upgraded model or veleo2 is in the making? biggrin.gif

On Q1, how about when the power is totally off. Will the movie still able to resume?

My WDTV media cannot resume when switched off or if the HDD is removed.

Thanks again in advance

No problem. It can resume as long as you not delete these two files ".Theater" & ".part" in HDD. These 2 files automatically created by media player after scan HDD finished.

in my experience this is common with mp4 files which i personally avoid.
you can stop it by pressing play or rewind or a combination.
if you can't, then junk the file!

Ac Ryan DVR HD, Recorder and media player

Is it worth it? Anyone using here?

You may ask, why not just get the cheaper media players. Yes i know, but those cheaper ones doesn't have the support for recording. I need tv program recordings instead of the stupid astro recording. So is this ac ryan worth it? Im going to get it today. Pls advice

PS : If anyone have this, pls share some reviews on if its worth it to buy smile.gif

i'm thinking of buying AC Ryan Playon HD 2. since i live in Langkawi, where is the nearest shop i could get it. is it a good idea to buy online? through lelong for example.

one more thing, how do you transfer file from your PC's hard disk to AC Ryan media player's hard disk? ... efficiently of course.

Hye guys icon_rolleyes.gif , im seeing Mini2 as good enough for me but i wanna double check with u guys and btw this thread is so long lol.. anyone which have some free time can u please guide me a bit smile.gif

I currently own a Samsung UA-40D5003, is it compatible with Mini2 in terms of playback, input/output requirements? Samsung UA-40D5003 has 1 HDMI output, hopefully sufficient enough edi

Im looking for a player which :

1 - supports multi format :
Saw n read that Mini2 supports various movie n vid format isnt it? It means i can play sort of all movie from "ehem2 sites (not porn laaaaaaaa)" without converting ait?

2. - USB support :
Mini dosent have or support HD storage but only USB storage isnt it? Means place movie in thumb drive and it will detect and can play ait?

3. - Internet/Wifi :
Saw about the USB dongle thingy. What is the exact purpose of it btw? Is it either to copy file from another local wifi device into the thumdrive mounted directly or is it for like wireless streaming etc. Im blurred out on its purpose.

4. - Any other cool feature?
If u guys have anything to share about Mini2 but i havent mention it here please hint me up. Stuffs like supports video streaming or direct wifi youtube streaming etc. Please do share

Im no HD-guy but im planning to get this for my parents as an anniversary gift. It would be much easier without needing to burn into DVD then play. I see it as an investment and time saving.

All of your reply is highly appreciated smile.gif Ill be hanging here more often to learn more smile.gif notworthy.gif

if hardwired, i think the common routers will work, incl the DLink supplied by Unifi in my case.
if wireless, you will need a wireless receiver/dongle. other than the original from acryan, some others may work, mentioned here:
http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1475667/+1180

price... i saw most places at RM499 still, but likely cheaper at lowyat kl or digitial mall pj.

not famiiar with yr tv, but if it is fullhd 1920x1080, you can enjoy nice videos with the mini2.
the tv itself may have a usb port to plug/play in direct, but you will find some files will not play properly, unlike a media player.
do you have an avr? or you will play direct mini2 to tv? one hdmi cable mini2-tv will do, you get both video and auido.

1. yes. assuming the files are normal ones with extensions in the files like avi, mkv, rmvb, mp4, flac, mp3, etc...
some files are zipped, you will need to unzip before playing.
2. yes. thumdrive, portable hdd, ext hdd, all will work. take note small drives are usually formatted fat32, max 4gb only so it won't accept bigger files which are very common these days. to accomodate bigger files, you need to reformat drive to nfts.
3. yes and yes. this feature offer a few things - within a lan, wireless or hardwired, you can transfer, copy, stream, etc. but... it can be slow, depends on yr setup and internet/wireless speeds.
4. mini2 has built in internet options - youtube is one of them. others incl podcasts, news, weather. youtube comes out nice. streamyx will not work well for internet options, need unifi. if you want more options like online stream from internet tv sites, you will need to consider the new model veleo - comes with a keyboard, discussed in this thread very recently.

To know more about the supported file formats, you can go here. It should playback on almost any type of TV so long as it has HDMI or at the very least composite connectivity.

The mini2 does not have internal HDD support so, it relies on external HDD via USB or NAS (Network Attached Storage). For the latter, connectivity is either via the built-in LAN port or by way of optional wifi dongle. If you want internal HDD, go for the Playon!HD2 instead.

As long as your network is set up properly, be it wired or wireless, DHCP or fixed IP, the Mini2 will have no problems accessing any NAS.
The price of the Mini2 is listed as RM499 but I recall it was on offer at RM399 (with free 8Gb thumbdrive) a few months back

Thank you for the answer smile.gif. Yes it supports 1080p and have a hdmi input. There r thumbdrive support but only for mp3s and images.

The youtube support, does it require a wireless keyboard for input? Thx again. Sounds like i need to secure one soon smile.gif

Yes, the wifi dongle can be used to access the internet via your wifi router. Similarly for file transfers, from any HDD within your LAN to the HDD attached to your ACRyan

for internet options incl youtube, the gui does not require a physical keyboard. for searches, the virtual keyboard will come on for you to "click" on the characters.

file transfer acryan hdd-broadband need a pc as host/control and some setup procedure i posted somewhere in this thread. you can't download/transfer from www to acryan without a pc.

one thing i must say - i find it too slow to transfer/download files between pc and acryan wirelessly. maybe 100% usb3.0 hardware is faster. i gave that up, just get all on pc first, then copy to hdds.
