i've fixed the problem musics and photos not showing...no wonder la, got .nomedia file on the root folder.

btw, i quote this from my other post la;

damn should i root or just use the 2.2 Froyo when its available? i know some stuffs on what rooted device can do but if possible i wanted to stay original as possible, though i love hacking stuffs~~

do i miss many stuffs on the paid market?

and yeah btw thanks for suggestions of the apps.

EDIT : after doing some reading, no harm if i root my phone right, cuz after that i can continue using the current ROM without installing custom ROM? i can still update normally am i? or no?

Sorry for the off topic a bit, but the above questions are somewhat related i think?
*
Yes you can still run the current ROM with ROOT. Root just gives you access to the phone system. I was running Root with stock ROM for quite some time and only recently updated to custom rom.

Since you're rooted you can always install Froyo now and test it out while it's officially available biggrin.gif

you can delete duplicate contacts using gmail contacts. There's an option to delete dupes.

Actually 2 diff shops said (almost) the same thing (1 say phone will spoil the other say phone can't read properly if class too high)..Just wonderin, shouldn't it be better to get higher class now that Froyo allows installation of apps into the External Mem?

I am extremely happy with Desire now since I rooted it. I got all my softwares back and Swype works well too.

Now, my concern is that if I upgrade my sdcard to Class 6, would i need to do my partitioning again?

root ur phone = nothing will happen to ur data
flash ur phone with custom rom require u to reset to factory settings + wipe data. This is where all ur apps and data will be gone. This is why I prefer to root my phone and manually customize it myself. Unfortunately my skill not good enough... sad.gif sad.gif

if you're changing between the same version ie eclair to eclair or froyo to froyo you can get away with just wiping all the cache .. did it a few times when changing between different custom roms

Total BS. I know a guy running a class 10 Kingston. No problems at all, though I must say that I dont really see any speed difference with a class 6. Although FroYo supports external location for apps, not all apps support this feature (yet).

That's why you have Nandroid restore.

Its the minimum speed. The higher the class, the faster the guaranteed minimum speed. It doesn't actually make a huge difference in Eclair but according to certain reports, Froyo does show faster response time when you use Class 6 as the application is installed to the memory card instead.

Nandroid backup takes a screenshot of your system and will restore it to that state. Think of it like an undo button.

Titanium Backup backs up system stuff and applications. Handy if you're switching ROMs, you can restore your apps+data in a single step (in the donate version of TiB).

Generally when you're switching ROMs,here's what you should do:-

1) Nandroid backup (in case we screw up or want to revert)
2) TiB backup
3) Flash new ROM
2) TiB restore

Now the ROM will have all your apps and data (and market links).
