your interior very neat and tidy.

just changed to silverstone raven 02 but now having a big trouble with the cable management, some of the wires too short.
not much people using it, I can't find any guide to manage cable yet have to figure it out by myself so far.

for the storm scout, I'll just sell it as set or separately as spare parts.
if no body want, may be I'll use the thumb screws and some parts of it to my new casing. hmm.gif

Cooler Master shows its V6 CPU cooler

Six "V" heatpipes

Cooler Master has announced its latest CPU cooler, the V6. The new V6 features "V" heatpipe design and asymmetrical aluminium fins in its heatsink in order to maximize performance.

As noted, the V6 features double "V" heatpipes, asymmetrical aluminium fins and optional snap-on dual fan setup. The V-shaped heatpipe array isn't something that you see often in cooler desing and according to Cooler Master, this one helps in heat dissipation by providing a clear path under both mid and high air pressure situations.

The asymmetrical aluminum fins feature is designed so it accelerates airflow due to specific airflow behaviour of the attached 120mm PWM fan.

The V6 is cooled by a 120mm PWM fan with red LED lights that spins from 800 to 2200 RPM and produces between 34.02 to 93.74 CFM of airlow. The dimensions of the entire cooler are 131.5x120x165mm and it features a copper base paired up with 55x0.3mm aluminium fins and six 6mm heatipipes.

The new V6 is compatible with Intel Socket LGA 1355/1156/775 as well as the AMD Socket AM3/AM2+/AM2 processors. The new V6 CPU cooler should appear in retail during next few weeks and we expect a price below €50.

Hi guys,

New Elite 430 user.

Previous Casing
[attachmentid=1646228]

After change to Elite 430
[attachmentid=1646234]
[attachmentid=1646231]

The top part of the case were to cramp have to use wire to tie the fans on the heatsink unless remove the 12mm fan before can mount the original cpu fan. Definitely cant install my previous Aerocool Water cooler due to cramp space.

I accidently rub off the paint on the letter V8.
Now its not shiny anymore. cry.gif
How to restore this? It has an asthetic value to me.

Actually, I was using autosol to get it back in shine, at first.
After a few scrubs, the V8 letter started to...well...becomes black. Like the silver paint worn off.
Wondering, is the letter aluminium?

At first I thought the letter V8 was aluminium. When I use autosol to clean it, they worn off.
So its not aluminium?

I don't think that is aluminum ko, wasted if it is aluminum and chrome on it.
Guess it is just chrome paint on it, you knock it and see whether it sound like a metal, aluminum or plastic.

don't worry about that, just make it in many thin layer will do.

it would be easier for you if spray dark colour, you won't see it if not nice, all covered inside and dark enough.

u can ask the pro, izdihar88 above.. laugh.gif

hahaha...that's right, I'm from Penang too.

By the way how you fix the glass onto your side panel, it is heavier than acrylic a lot and easier to crack.

Is it tempered glass?

zalman cnps 9500 look nicer.. now zalman very hot?
no need to change if it is working effectively and not hot on the top of heatsink.

or you can try venomous X or megahalem..
lz month I saw people selling megahalem between RM180-RM220 for a new set. rclxm9.gif

your rig almost same as the computer my friend setup last time, processor, mobo and ram.
result 4ghz i5 750 better than 4ghz i7 860 & i7 920 in linx.

venom looks quite big in storm scout, I can only put 1 fan at the bottom side panal of storm scout.

yup, venom is tall, will not be able to put top side panel fan, but better put good cooler w/o top side panel fan rather than poor cooler w/ top side panel fan smile.gif

u can try to mod watever u want to. u can put a fan at 5.25 bay.
for hdd connector, u can try remove the top panel and see whether can unscrew those connector or not.
why want to cover tht hdd bay? u can put handphone or external hdd on it when u want to transfer files. smile.gif

Those were Arctic Cooling fans. Its one of the best fans in the market. Performs well, much better than CM fans in some cases.
For such a nice case like 690 II, better to install high performance fans instead of stocks.
You'll love the results. smile.gif

I love its fluid dynamic bearing. rclxms.gif
but I never use b4, mind to let me know the result?

all of my 120mm fans start making noise for 60c above.
cm sickle flow, enermax magma and silverstone FN121.
not yet try my ADDA fan because it already noisy enough no matter what temperature it is. icon_question.gif

I bought an Arctic Cooling HSF Alpine 7 CPU cooler, 6 years ago.
Supposed to replace my Pentium 4 HT's stock cooler, very noisy.
Guess what, it still runs today. They said it may last up to 3 years.
The fan hasn't worn off yet but it started to get old.
I was amazed on how the HSF works and lasts. Now, I retired it and put it in its box.

hopefully new AC still as good as last time.
i already replaced 2times of my exhaust fan and 4times pulling fan on cpu heatsink.
it just start to vibrate/make noise to work under 70-80c within a week.

What I do like from the exterior view of CM690 II, is that the design itself. It's not fancy with logos and so on.

5770 can fit in scout, still got around 2inches left and u can only use 80mm at the rear exhaust if not mistaken.

I'm not sure for thermal v5 and nzxt classic gamma, you can google for the review by yourself and see which 1 u preferred.

Sure will fit in just fine.
Scout is better built, rigid. NZXT Classic Gamma also not bad. Tt V5 is abit spacey than Scout.
Be sure to do summore research aite..

casing alone 8.7kg. it comes with front red LED 140mm, top black 140mm and rear red LED 120mm.

5770 wont be hot in your casing, it is not necessary to upgrade your fans.
it is better if the type of your 5770 blowing the hot air to the rear, the cooling is more effective in this kind of casing.

you can get cooler master 2000rpm fan for only RM25-32 each.

but the handle truly help me to move around the case. imo, better get fan like cm r4 series, they are good, but fan that comes with the case is already done a good job, u can feel it blow very well, no need extra fan (but i will change all the fan, will let u know if it improve anything tongue.gif )

You need to remove couple of screws which attached the upper and lower part of the bay.
Just follow the instructions on the manual nod.gif

aiseh Cent. very active on this forum ah lately xD

i think my existence in this forum is slowly fading away xD!! dun see as many "old bird" of the CM thread forumers here anymore sad.gif

btw cent v6gt is a better cooler than v8. better heatpipe design and the right choice of fan method. dun forget i own the v8 b4. some of the heatpipe is really redundant (especially the outter tower) and the sickle flow fan is not focus flow which makes it even worst xD.

and one of the cooler picture posted on the 6th page or 5th page was suppose to be the v12. it was never realized =(

i am very tempted with the V6GT tho xD. review shows very very good result xD!!

no updates on my system so lazy share old pics xD

About the performance it does increase by a few Celsius for cpu temp unless i install another 8cm fan at the back of the cpu heatsink but i need to remove one of the 12cm fan like my previous photo in order to fit if.

did u feel how the air is blown through the fans? is it too low or considered ok? yr hdd need its own fan i think since there is no active cooling just for it. bottom fan should support your mobo..

i cut out all fan grills of my scout just to make sure my fans is fully utilize

your intake isn't sufficient. the air can go through your front mesh panel or not with the door is closed?

cooler master stock casing fan move a bit of air only.
I believe most of the cooler master casing owner here also changed all the stock fan to higher cfm fan.

change your bottom directional fan to higher cfm, then your gpu and mobo can be cooler. for cpu, i think u have to change both of your top fans and add a fan at the bottom of HDD bay, your hard disk also can be cooler.

my casing 100% positive air pressure. tongue.gif

ohya, don't mod your scout to positive pressure. all the flow will be worst and a lot of dust get into it. I tried before.

yaya..front mesh panel is close..coz the cosmos s front is like a door..usually close one..so, no air will come in.. air intake only at btm..tat why i think need get high cfm fan..and top 2 fan should be replace with new fan..regard the hsf..? which postition better? vertical or horizontal?

for hsf, u must experiment it yourself as there result might be different between person. try to make the exhaust air to the nearest exhaust fan.
for your hdd, try look around for hdd cooling in garage sale. cheapest diy u can do is just put a fan that blow air directly on your hdd

i saw there is a open mesh at the bottom of hdd bay in the cosmos pure gallery from cooler master site.
may be can mount a fan over there and specification also written that is optional, so it doesn't come in stock.
left only one intake fan and another lonely mesh at the bottom, the exhaust is powerful than intake so the air may go in through the mesh, how come hard disk still that hot. rclxub.gif

try both vertical and horizontal and monitor the temperature.
hsf blow to top u will heard the air whirling noise from the top and blow to rear u will heard from the rear. brows.gif

I say yes, depending on your hardwares inside your rig.
If you got hot hardwares, better to have a 200mm fan as intake on the side panel.
Keeps things cool and quiet.

Stormforce is slightly more powerful than Megaflow. Just add a few ringgits get better performance.
Since mr.Stanley wanna buy a GTX460 card, it shouldn't be a problem for heat.

Thanks dude.. will try get better shot some other time. Btw was trying the red led on V6 GT to bring out the contrast inside the casing, but i think would work better if can insert another red led fan to go along with it. I've switched back to blue strip to make casing blue all around.

Btw one thing sucks about CM is although Sniper provide extra cabling to make all fan upgrades possible to be linked together for simultaneous led on/off and speed control they didn't actually come out with parts for that purpose (only Force 200? how about 120 & 140?). And i actually made a mistake bought a standard 120mm CM led on/off fan thinking it can fit, not only the separate led cable is incompatible the blue lights also doesn't match with Sniper's. Thing is i need additional fan to light up lower part of the casing cause light source from top fan totally blocked by graphic card i'm using.

Hey Scout users!! notworthy.gif
I just wanna ask...cos i'll be getting my own Scout soon.
The LED on/off button, does it turn off ALL LEDs on ALL FANS? How does it work exactly?
Cos I was thinking about mounting my 2 extra CM LED fans, the green 2k rpm ones on my Thor's Hammer...would the LED button turn those fan's LED off too? or does the button turn off the fans?? some1 pls explain this to me hahaa... icon_question.gif

my imagination was that it turns off ALL LEDs attached to fans within the casing not just the two fans supplied. Meaning 2 say that i would have 6 LED fans thumbup.gif but all of which can be turned off when i want to sleep so my room doesn't glow Green & Red LOL whistling.gif

Congrats on owning the Scout case.
The LED on/off button only works on two of the stock case fan. Front and rear, just for the LEDs. The top 140mm fan is not included with LED.
Also, the button only have two connections (for the stock LED fans). So if you want to fit in more LED fans, you have to buy seperate controller.
Or you can mod yourself. smile.gif

for controlling the LED on and off, u have to find those fan with 2x2pins connector and allow u to on/off the LED, otherwise not.
cm r4 2000rpm cannot on/off the LED, it seems like powered by the internal motor(like a dynamo) because it slightly dim when I lowered the speed.
The LED also light up when I spin it very fast(with power disconnected) by using a fan blowing to it.

should be ok if u leave 3 casing fans running + lower speed side panel fans/cpu fans. idle is only ur cpu, ram and hdd running.
last time I just leave it there with 3 stock casing fans + intel stock fan(all default speed) downloading or house keeping over the night.
I dont know what is the height of your thor's hammer, I cannot fit top side panel fan with my venomous x there.

Since you are using Scout like me, best to keep your case fans running to keep the airflow steady and cool.
I don't think the CM R4 fans are controllable coz it is not a PWM fan.
The LEDs on the fan will lit up when the fan is spinning.
If your Thor's fan is using the R4, I don't think you can control it.
Correct me if I'm wrong. smile.gif

PWM?? whats that?? lol...owh...so even if i use a fan controller i cant control the R4 fans?? But i thought fan controllers control the voltage input into the fans...so technically lower voltage = lower rpm right? so lower rpm = dimmer LEDs?? LOL

Correct me if I'm wrong. smile.gif
*
at night should be ok, may be my ambient lower lar. wink.gif

cm r4 can control 1..depends on the controller whether can control 3pins or not.
I can control any fans on my mobo as long as it is lower than 1amp.

this is what I thought, do you know the dynamo(some kind of motor on bicycle) to generate power to the lamp.
I guess the cm r4 is using this method to power the LED, so when it is slower, the LED will become dimmer by around 50% but I'm not sure for the fan speed.

for controlling the LED on and off, u have to find those fan with 2x2pins connector and allow u to on/off the LED, otherwise not.
cm r4 2000rpm cannot on/off the LED, it seems like powered by the internal motor(like a dynamo) because it slightly dim when I lowered the speed.
The LED also light up when I spin it very fast(with power disconnected) by using a fan blowing to it.

NNNnooooooooo =(( my cpu's gonna light up like a freaking christmas tree ==" hmm....

ok how about this....if i leave my pc idle at night...or say leave it for house keeping at night while i sleep - virus scan, defrag, scans...would it be ok if i turned off 2 side panel fans & reduce processor fans to say...800-1k rpm via fan control...would my pc over heat? the other 3 fans will b working (top rear n front)

BTW...can i fit Thor's Hammer + 2 fans into this casing? =))
*
rite, cm r4 cannot turn the led off by itself, unless u hv some sort of fan controller to turn off the fan that will also turn off the led, i done it on my scout with my fan controller. u could mod the fan but i dont think u would be interested.

i use prolimatech+2 fans, when sleeping, only turn on the rear fan, other fan (i have 6 r4 in my case) is off, the temp is increase a bit but not like while gaming, super silent during sleeping is worth here smile.gif

u can put either 14cm fan or 12cm fan. both r fine. smile.gif

but if u put 12cm fan on the top, it will b quite noisy n the air flow also wont b much due to the plastic honey comb. i recommend u to put 14cm instead. nod.gif

or u got better recommendation?
i will take note about ur first recommendation on 14cm fan to put above... but 1 or 2 fans?

wat i did is i placed below 14cm intake, 1x12cm fan intake front, 1x14cm intake front ( the place u put ur dvd drive ), 12cm Excalibur at back as exhaust fan, 12cm side exhaust fan. i didn't put any top fans coz i really cant stand the noise n quite a lot of ppl recommend me to cut the plastic honey comb off or else the top exhaust fans would b useless due to the holes at the top panel r small so it will circulate the heat back into the case. hmm.gif

n if u wan, i would say go for 2x 14cm fan as the top exhaust will do. don go for 12cm fans as the top exhaust coz the cfm too high then more heat will circulate back into ur pc. nod.gif

Exhaust fan shouldn't have high rpm but intake fan should.
Gaming case need to have as much cold air to cool the hardwares inside.
To dissipate large amount of heat from the case, bigger exhaust fan required, as hot air is lighter and rises up.

Hi guys i need opinion on HAF-922 or the Xigmatek Utgard..

as i know haf922 have better space than the Utgard and also better airflow but it is worth the add RM100+ to get 922 for airflow and space? Utgard has pretty good specs and quite cheap.. opinion would be appreciated!

I do think its worth the add on price as i do not want to put 2k+ hardware inside a bad ventilated case. The haf922 got the looks too.

V10 already... wow. Have posted pics of 4 of my CM casings in previous versions of this thread. So this is just an update of current status.

Centurion 590 - C2Q Q9550 main rig with 6TB (4x1.5TB Seagate)
Stacker STC-101 - i7-870 server with 20TB (10x2TB WD Black & Green)
Gladiator 600 - C2Q Q8200 NAS rig with 15TB (7x2TB WD Green, 1x1TB WD Green)
Centurion 590 - C2D E6600 P2P rig with 2.64TB - currently not P2Ping, so sitting idle
Elite 341 - C2D E6550 spare rig for visitors with 500GB - not using it much

Fans used in all 5 casings - mostly CM (PWM, "90CFM" LED, 140mm), some Xigmatek XLFs (especially in the Gladiator), Enermax Magma, AC Ryan UV, a few other UV-reactive fans.

Below are pics of my Stacker casing, not showing internals much 'coz it's all 'cacing' only with the SAS-SATA cables, dual PSU, etc. The lower 6 drive bays are taken up by 2 units of IcyDock's 5-in-3 removable HD cage, holding 10x 2TB drives. The white bays are holding the WD Blacks, the black bays are holding WD Greens. 2 bays taken up by BD-R drives (LG & Lite-On), 1 bay by the VLSys LIS2 Premium LCD panel, and 2 empty bays reserved for an IcyDock 3-in-2 removable HD cage (will buy on my next trip to Sim Lim Sq).

Internals: i7-870 cooled by Venomous-X (CM PWM fan + CM 90CFM blue LED fan in push/pull), 8GB Kingston Value RAM, Radeon HD 5770, Areca ARC-1222 RAID controller, dual PSU (both CM), bottom intake: 140mm Xigmatek XLF blue, top exhaust: 80mm Nidec Beta SL, CM crossflow fan installed, rear exhaust: CM 90CFM blue LED fan.
Monitors: 2x 23" Dell U2311h, 1x 24" Asus VH242H (shared with the Gladiator-based NAS rig)

Have not attached pics of the other 4 casings as they have been posted in previous versions of this thread.

Although Xigmatek Utgard has a good value, I belive it is better to buy better case like the HAF 922. Its feature full and great quality. IMO. The choice is yours. smile.gif

Depends on where you wanna put it.
If it's at the rear, then a 120mm would do.
But if your exhaust is at the bottom, a higher higher RPM fan is required to bring down the hot air as it would rise up *naturally*
As what everyone does, exhaust at the top and rear, then intake at the bottom and the front
Side panel can be intake or exhaust, depending on your choice between negative pressure or positive pressure

remount the v8 man... if the fan direction is by default meaning the hot air is shotting downwards to your graphic card which is no good. unless the fan internally direction is changed to blow at opposite direction = blow upwards then it's ok

Anyway, sorry for asking this noob question. Been new to casing. Does the HAF air ventilation better then the storm?
*
definitely, smile.gif

HAF = High Air Flow

but still, if u do set d proper fans in d right position, any case can have a good air flow

HAF 922 and Sniper esentially using the same frame. so let's say both have the same fan setup then it will be equal. let it be mesh panel side panel with fan mounting or window panel. sniper does come with 2 storm force fan. front and top. which is 1000rpm and very powerful and silent. put that on the haf922 then you will get the same result.

Haf932 different story. u go crazy with the fan HAF X also can't match.
HAF X is pretty fixed in fan options. to make the airflow smooth.
HAF932 u can go all positive pressure or if you see some other way that fits then you can configure your fan to fit your liking.

my 932 used to have 4x XLF at the side intake. inside air pressure in side. thermalright venomous X noneed attach fan also can cool down decently lol. but too much dust. unless you very rajin wipe few days then ok la. hahah i have sunshade on my side panel using back the stock 230mm fan. once a week i take cloth and wipe it. but still got dust manage to go in la hahha.

Yes you should. It will be a matter of time b4 the fans stop spinning. You may replace the same fan.
OR
Try other fans, like Arctic Cooling fans or Silverstone fans.

IMO a strong one is needed at the bottom as it is very important to get cool air inside.
Maybe strong one if you have top exhaust and a low RPM one if there's no top exhaust

oh no... current sickle flow. run far far from it. since last years batch when the red ones start to sell. they die in a month. the shaft inside dried up just like that and whole fan rattle and jam.
look for xigmatek or even the arctic cooling ones better. a little lesser air. but at least it wont rosak suka hati.

want faster speed and if you don't mind the noise or you have fan controller. scythe 110cfm slip stream kaze jyuni selling a lot cheaper nowadays.

go for artic cooling f12... u wont regret, though airflow rated is lower on the spec written, but it move quite a lot of air in real life putting side by side with other fans...

btw guys i have tested my CM V6GT,

Temperature wise,

Stock - 40C (45C load)
V6GT - 30C (38C)

Noise wise,

Stock - noisy ( sorry guys i dunno how to measure noise level in dBA format tongue.gif )
V6GT - quiet ( no noise even when i stress my cpu to high load )

Conclusion,
V6GT - cool, silent, n great design biggrin.gif

most of watercooling users prefer internal mount for their radiators. looks cleaner. all those water cooling holes are only useful if you're mounting your radiator outside the case.

the reason is air flow inside casing is less... compare to external air flow

But since they are using Water cooling..the temperature between internal mount and external mount might only 1C~2C differences..
somemore mount the radiator in internal look more nice and neat

To clear more things up

there are currently 2 version stated now
1.HAF 912(Not black interior,No E-sata,comes with 2 120mm fans)
2.HAF 912 plus(Black interior,E-sata at the front,comes with 2 200mm fans[1 in front and 1 on top] and an exhaust 120mm fan)

If they follow the CM 690 II there might be an advance version
