the original poster said he/she already turned on Cellular data. so i guess it's not solved yet? is restarting the phone a sure fix?

as for jailbroken phones, they'll lose all apps when they upgrade to iOS 4 right?

sorry ya...quite hard being TS of an iphone thread but not actually owning an iphone hahahaha. one day one day smile.gif

Thanks for your understanding...I reset my phone, turn on n off the 3G & data, still cannot.Maybe is time to ask Maxis to change new one!

Well i think the someone mentioned that the multitasking on Iphone is not true multasking since currently any app that you open when pressed the HOME key it closes but shows up in the multitasking tab..a multitasking app will continue where it was stopped but on the Iphone it restarts all over again..i tested this with games and it restarts all over...

and to be honest i dont see it having an adverse effect on the battery life with the so called multitasked app minimized might i say iOS4 has improved the battery life by a bit..my batt levels are at 42% with a few calls and sms'es and short games....and yet with these apps coming up on the multitasking tan

I think for the moment the multitasking is just to show what are the apps that you've opened recently when you invoke it it restarts..does it mean it runs in the background if it does it should continue from the point it was stopped but not with this one...so i can that you can give yourselves a break from double pressing the HOME button twice each time to close the app..yeah there will be a clutter of apps but i guess its just to show what apps you have used...and im only gonna clear it once a day laugh.gif since as i mentioned earlier, it doesnt seem to affect the battery life or the speed of processing ...well of course if you do have OCD then by all means go ahead and close the app each time by invoking the Home button... laugh.gif oh i have an Iphone 16GB 3GS btw..

and just a little bit of disclamer Ive come to this conclusion based on my test that ive done throughout today and results may or not vary if you decide to do what i did smile.gif

Hi everyone.

I've decided to be safe than sorry. Although many are saying that iOS4 works well on a 3G, I've read many complains against it. As mentioned by a heavy 3G user, iOS4 is meant for the future, not the past. I think it could support well with 3GS (maybe), but I think there're rather heavy problems on 3G, till the extend of damaging ur 3G set.

So, my finals words for iOS4 is that, I won't be downloading it. Just be happy with what I'm having and better to be safe than sorry. If wanna use iOS4, save up enough money to get one in the future then.

Here're some posts (from Apply Discussion board) that provide more details (click at the link provided):

actually it depends how the user update..
if u get the steps right then u will be fine..or maybe u r unlucky 1 to have the problem

once the iOS4 released,i dl and update straight away with my jailbroken iphone 3g 3.1.2..at first im stuck in emergency call for no reason after updated..but after 3rd attempt to update it works..now i jailbreak again and everything just fine

Also, I would like to show a big appreciation to those who take the effort to warn others about it and tell your problems. I would like all of u to know that your reviews or postings really matter to all iPhone users out there. You may be unaware those who have benefitted from your comment as they might just read and leave, but I'm happy to tell you that I really appreciate it.

If u dun like iOS4 can revert back to 3.1.3 easily through DFU. After restore, u'll get an error and phone stuck at recovery mode. Just use a tool to kick your phone out of recovery mode and 3.1.3 is back in action.

iphone loads the app again because most app out there does not support multitasking yet. we'll just have to wait until the developers update them to be multitasking compatible biggrin.gif

Ditto! it just reloads the app...so technically the app isnt really "running" on the background...

Dev version for iOS4 has been out quite some time. This shows how much they care for their users.

Hey there, thanx for ur reply. Yeah, I feel really scared whether to install it, so gotta be more cautious. If anything happens to it, like maybe hang or something, or maybe like what the guys in the link I posted said, it can go to the extend of damaging ur phone. Perhaps the method u mentioned have higher chances to work in 3GS? Just guessing. But yeah, after reading comments and all, feel really afraid to download.

If the processing speed or performance can really increase after installing iOS4, then most likely I'll need to reconsider whether to install it. Cos my 3G is running quite slow, despite less space used up.. haha.. wondering why..

How can I increase my speed ya actually? hehe..

Hmm... After update to iOS 4 and test it for the whole day
1 major improvement on my side is the signal now become stronger, the old version I always get 1 or 2 bar (3G) inside my room, and sometimes quite hard to send SMS out.
Buy right now the signal always stay at least 4 or even full bar, and just now try to send 10 SMS in 1 shot, all sent out smoothly...
And also received the reply from all my fren without any problem.

Let's hope that iOS4 really does a major improvement on the network ....
