Just noticed that my tripod is 200gram lighter than my 50mm f1.0 L USM. wooot. Loving my tripod so much now No wonder hardly feel anything when I lug it along during my last trip. Ex tripod is 2kg sweat.gif

a Quick question here, would you guys get a 35mm f1.4L, or a 135mm f2L plus a Sigma 30mm?

u on 1d ?
the 30mm on 1d will still remain a lil bit vignetting ,
get 135/2 + 30 1.4 then
since ugot 24 1.8 liao laugh.gif

yeah, I'm more concerned on the focusing issues on the Sigma apparently since mine does not have microadjusting, which would be a hassle to send over and calibrate.

thx for the suggestion though wink.gif

anymore thoughts?

Since you already have the 24, I think 30 would be a little too close in terms of FoV? Maybe a 50 1.4 or something with the 135L. smile.gif

Yeap, good memory you have there. Indeed a real sturdy tripod. The weight is the main factor for me to discard others. Really dont feel anything lugging this tripod around.

Bang for buck is 135L + Siggy 30mm f1.4, but if 35mm is your main lens, I would suggest 35L. The sharpness and focusing is awesome.

The vignetting on 1D is only visible when you blast flash, else it's pretty negligible. Tested with my 1D2, 1D2N, 1D3.

is there any camera shoulder bag / backpack that has an external compartment for keeping tripod ??

Dun like the idea of dangling the tripod either.

I would recommend 50mm f1.2 to fill the gap.

Simple, buy a tripod bag and hang/keep that bag on/in your sling/bagpack.

thanks for the input guys, I guess I'll go for the 135L and the Sigma 30mm. while I would love to have the 35L as my main lens, The first combo sounds more practical.

cheers!

Why don't you go for Siggy 50mm f1.4 HSM? It's even better to fill the gap between 24mm and 135mm. IQ wize is better than Siggy 30mm f1.4 HSM.

Buy a big ass backpack, chuck your tripod inside. But I believe there's a reason why most of the bags designed to hold your tripod outside.

well I tried the 50mm FL and I find that 30mm is just nice for the type of photographs I take, While the 24mm works great, I'm planning to sell it off since I just purchased a Tokina 12-24 for like, 500 ringgit? biggrin.gif

plus, my sigma is having backfocusing issues, which is a headache when covering important events.

Imagine a portrait of the CEO of Chaswood Resources Sdn.Bhd (one of the largest multi-concept operators in the restaurant industry in Malaysia.) with his wife got backfocused.

deadly shit I tell you doh.gif
