AMC, the cable network that brought us, Mad Men, had announced a 6 episode season for the brand new TV series, The Walking Dead.
This series is based on Robert Kirkman graphic zombie novel. And the cast announced include Sarah Wayne Callies, best known for her role 'Sara' in Prison Break, as the female lead. Will keep the thread updated. Hope this will be good. This post has been edited by xy2610: May 21 2019, 07:19 PM |

Haven't read the comics for a while now
Interesting to see it's adapted to TV series I just hope they don't tone down the violence too much or change the original story from the comics |

I'm glad that it's on cable. The violence and language will be intact hopefully. The graphic novels are very cinematic and in Darabont I trust.

I have read the comic up to episode 40+
I've got to say the comic is totally awesome, is a must do for zombie fans to read the comic. From the trailer, so far it is exactly how the comic started. |

So only 6 episodes for season 1? Will they extend to 13 episodes or just simply renewed for a second season? Feels like a miniseries, but then again the production quality is top notch and I can see why they're going with 6 episodes for now.

The first episode started out slow. Got a little bored as rick tries to fit in and get over his emotions. The most exciting part was when he reached atlanta and stumbled upon the massive wave of zombies..i nearly jizzed in my pants

This show really got a huge potential if they done it right. It will be interesting if there is a better mutated the walker that can run, climb faster.
Anyway, before the Rick closes the tank, the camera focus at one zombie that with both yellow eyes and long hair. Is that the "leader" of the zombie? |

its good they change the story a bit. i dont want it to be the same as the books, then i cant watch due to lack of suspense. its hard having emotional attachment to someone if you know they will die in a prison break or shoot out a few episodes later.

The last 20 minutes is very 'edge of the seat'. Guess someone has to die soon since they get away so many times. The new group of survivors is very likeable even the racist guy is interesting to watch! What's his name! Great series~... it reminds me somehow like the drama version of Left 4 Dead games series except with more survivals and less weapons~...

Great comics make great series/movies, just like this one
Partly cos those comics panels might as well be storyboards. Great panels translate to great camera angles.(and some epic ones) I just hope they dont screw up the ending or make any major modifications to the story like how Kick Ass was. anyway, Hollywood are way more evolved than Malaysia's film industry. In Malaysia, I bet they didnt even know what storyboard artists do and what their jobs are, thats why the camera angle is so screwed up Our local film camera angle is either static or based on the cameraman's/director's whim.  |

Watched the first episode, pretty good I must say. One thing really stood out - the make up effects! Just wow! Astonishing!

i love zombie flicks (and games) but frankly a little disappointed with the show's inconsistencies... (only seen up to ep 2 so far)
too many questions like:- a) where are the zombies at country side/forest? (can make love in the middle of jungle? how did these survivors survive the outbreak if their survival instincts are so bad) b) sometimes zombies are slow moving, sometimes they move rather fast c) zombies can't climb ladders showing how dumb they are, but then again they know how to use rocks to pummel the glass. and many other horrible inconsistencies (in my opinion la) but still looking forward to catch up with ep3 ... |

It's a good lighter episode. Like the ladies' conversation. All characters got a little bit of development throughout the episode. Lori is less annoying but Shane still is...Seems like there will be a thing between Andrea and Shane. Maybe not! b. I say, it's also just like living human beings.. normal times, we walk slowly or rather at a slower pace. When we see something we like or we want, we go (or rather run) after it. hehe... c. They never really showed the zombie picking up that rock did they? My guess could also be the poor sod died with that rock in his hands. My other guess regarding the climbing of the fence or ladder would be: - the fence would be easier to climb (holes all over, not too high, something to roll across with at the top), the walker would climb halfway and could probably step on the others who came in later helping 'boost' them up - try climbing a ladder with loads of people pushing you from behind. I can assure you that it ain't easy. nice explanations from led_zep_freak btw. |

Well, finally, The Walking Dead season 1 is completed.
Shane grows more desperate and become more gatal. Really have no idea where they will be heading since at first they say they are running out of fuel and food. Maybe stop at nearby petrol station to get some fuel? Anyways, just wait patiently for the 2nd season. |

Season one is pretty much like The Walking Dead Volume 1 tradepaperback (six issues also)
 So season two probably collect the next 6 issues (much like another 6 episodes) Can't wait for the release of BD! |

In this series he play as Morgan who appear in 1st episode...wondering if he coming back in season two?  The only clue that i had is this message...hope he coming back...and kick some zombie ass..  |

I can already guess  fyi, walking dead follows a new tv series format, with at least 2 season in mind. big production studio, big promo(they promoted across the globe),small season to start. so, if the ratings no good, next season will follow same format of small season to wrap things up. this way, the show wont end abruptly like how shows like Flashforward was. Quality isnt compromised (some shows only get higher production budget after 2nd season), the only drawback is viewers only need to wait longer...haha they used the money to promote the series at the expense of number of episodes. imo, this scheme is better than flying with big budget, then flop on one season. |

Actually, the CDC thing was rather new and was not featured in the comic book series... but I am sure they have to veer towards the Prison story-plot and there will feature a villain there... which is a bigger problem compare to about the zombies...

No signs of anyone else around, so does this mean Shane breaks away from the group in Season 2? If you’ve seen Season 1, then you know Shane has very good reasons to say goodbye and strike out on his own. And given that the Shane character is now an open book, thanks to his survival (the character originally died very early on in the comics), it’ll be intriguing to see where showrunner Frank Darabont takes the character from here on out. Unlike the rest of the characters in the show, Shane has the freedom to go anywhere and do pretty much anything from this point on. |

i dunt know wheter to like or hate this show.. the suspense is nice, but at certain timings it doesnt feel right... my season 2 rantings:-
1) many times the characters not really cautious of their surroundings 2) zombies in season 1 say can smell them humans, so how come so easy walk past at highway 3) so little survivors so far, but in s2e2, middle of nowhere got nice house with nice garden with family living there? |

thou i some what enjoyed this series, i cant help but to notice there are quite a number of flaws in it
i guess it is really that difficult to direct a zombie flick series not many would attempt to make it a lot of the times were kinda draggy to, thoroughly still watchable and entertaining but if i had a choice id like to watch episode 24 now |

there are so many flaws in the second season and it makes this show looks stupid. Like the missing girl, they want to find her fast, but when they all go look for her, they stop at a church to pray, chat, have some coffee, chat some more, kill some stupid zombies, chat more, have a quickie in the toilet and then some argument, then the boy gets to visit a zoo to see a deer and gets seriously injured and so on..........HOW FXCKING STUPID IS THAT??? There's a girl missing! she's probably hurt somewhere or some pervert zombies are chasing her when they are PRAYING to god to protect her! After this episode I lost all interest in this show...........

Praying is an act of desperation in that case.
Rick feels a bit hopeless when it's his fault of losing Sophia. I can see that praying would have give him the strength to find Sophia but then Carl get shot. But, I do agree that the missing Sophia plot has been draggy. I would have stopped looking for that little girl already and moved on in such circumstances. |

i dunno about you guys, but this arc about locating sophia is getting ridiculously long. seems like there is a lot more talk about relationships now then the freaking zombies.
i get that they are trying to develop the characters and all but they could do with some old fashioned blood and gore to keep things moving. |

It would definitely set a precedent, and since neither actors are main characters, their departure wouldn’t really hurt the show too much in terms of storyline. Though if it ended up being Laurie Holden, I would be very, very displeased. She is easily my favorite character on the show, right next to the hapless Glenn. one of the most epic moment i've ever watch in tv series apart from dan scott killing his own brother in one tree hill season 3. :claps:
i see some of you still not getting what this show is all about.this whole looking for sophia thing is just to show how much humanity instinct they still have after witnessing the world comes down.how they are going to survive and how they live the days of their lives.it's not about the damm walkers alone.it's how they deal with this surviving thing. |

it makes perfect sense. hershel doesnt want to let them know of the barn. but once the secret was out, he could have at least told them about sophia so they can get the hell out of his land.

honestly season 2 really sucks compare to season1 .... most of the time im jz fastforwarding the show.... arghh, boring. only at the ending got some 'nice' moments, other than that its BORING.
