Frank Darabont Says No Second Season for Walking Dead Yet, Threatens Suicide

Yesterday  we heard that AMC was so happy with their new TV show “The Walking Dead” (despite the fact that it hasn’t even aired yet) that they’ve already greenlit it for a longer second season, and that production on said second season was scheduled for February 2011.

Apparently that’s news to the show’s producer and the pilot’s writer/director Frank Darabont, who tells AICN that there is no such official order from AMC, and that if he had to get right back to work on the show by February he’d “rather shoot myself”.

Now, now, Frank, don’t go doing something nuts now.

The first season of “The Walking Dead” premieres Halloween of this year. It has a 6-episode order, probably just enough to establish the world and “walkers” and get fanboys salivating for a second season.

u read the comic book? can pm the link hehe

Not online leh tongue.gif

Well, I used to buy the tradepaperbacks and read them ~ they are really good! A very good read and its not always about zombies but about the survivals.

If Frank Darabont stays faithful to the comic book, there is a lot to see in the prison scene... and a shocking revelation...

Season one is pretty much like The Walking Dead Volume 1 tradepaperback (six issues also) laugh.gif

So season two probably collect the next 6 issues (much like another 6 episodes)

Can't wait for the release of BD! rclxm9.gif

Actually, the CDC thing was rather new and was not featured in the comic book series... but I am sure they have to veer towards the Prison story-plot and there will feature a villain there... which is a bigger problem compare to about the zombies...

Still... I am surprise about... Shane... hmm.gif

Walking Dead Season 2 Begins Casting Hershel’s Farmers

user posted image

Well we know Hershel’s farm would figure into AMC’s “The Walking Dead” sooner or later, and some has suspected it would be sometime in season 2 when the gang runs across Hershel and his kin. To get prep for the trip to the old farming stead, AMC has begun casting three characters for the upcoming season — Hershel himself, his daughter Maggie, and ranch hand Otis.

Cast breakdowns courtesy of TVline:

QUOTE
According to some just-released casting intel, Hershel himself is a [veterinarian] — a Wilford Brimley type.

His daughter, Maggie, sounds like a younger version of Andrea with better horseback-riding skills.

Finally, there’s Otis, the middle-aged ranch foreman who’s such a sweetheart that he all but loses it when he accidentally shoots a fellow survivor.

Those who have read the comic books by Robert Kirkman, from which the show is based, will of course realize the importance of Hershel’s farm (and its inhabitants) to the survivors, especially in the aftermath of the CDC, well, fiasco that ended Season 1.

Is AMC Looking to Slice The Walking Dead’s Season 2 Budget?

user posted image

Why would you mess with a hit show? You’ll have to ask AMC that, because if Frank Darabont is correct, then the cable network is looking to cut his budget by enough of a margin that the writer/director/producer and showrunner of “The Walking Dead” is sounding a little worried. Here’s what he said during a recent roundtable with THR:

QUOTE
Creatively I have no complaints thus far. But I believe if they do move ahead with what they’re talking about, it will affect the show creatively … in a negative way. Which just strikes me as odd. If you have an asset, why would you punish it?

So you have a hit show, the network’s BIGGEST hit, actually, and you want to mess with it by taking away some of the money? That’s just dumb.

Season 2 of “The Walking Dead” is due, if AMC keeps to their timetable, in October.

Run, Shane, Run! Walking Dead Season 2 Set Pictures

user posted image

AMC recently released those two very ordinary looking official pics from “The Walking Dead” Season 2, but let’s face it, they could have been pics from the first season for all we know, they were that indistinguishable from all the other “Walking Dead” zombie amassing images. Frankly, I expected something better than just a bunch of zombies standing around looking zombie-ish.

But anyways, these new set pics, though, look to be definitely from the upcoming Season 2 (due out on AMC sometime in October), and features Jon Bernthal’s Shane fleeing the walkers while stuck in what looks like on the Interstate road. No signs of anyone else around, so does this mean Shane breaks away from the group in Season 2?

If you’ve seen Season 1, then you know Shane has very good reasons to say goodbye and strike out on his own. And given that the Shane character is now an open book, thanks to his survival (the character originally died very early on in the comics), it’ll be intriguing to see where showrunner Frank Darabont takes the character from here on out. Unlike the rest of the characters in the show, Shane has the freedom to go anywhere and do pretty much anything from this point on.

Someone is About to Get Eaten on The Walking Dead — but Who?

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

It looks like someone is about to become zombie food on the current season of AMC’s “The Walking Dead”. At least, that’s the blind item from TVLine, who quotes unnamed sources as saying that a character on the show is about to get munched on … and it’s because he/she asked for it.

Well, he/she asked for it … but has had a change of heart, though that might not be enough to save him/her. Oops?

QUOTE
The backstage drama all started when series creator Frank Darabont was ousted. A whole lotta people were upset, you’ll recall, and this one person, so much so that he/she asked to be released from his/her contract. But, according to my moles, a funny thing happened between the time the request was made and when it was potentially granted.

    A change of heart.

Now this member of the ensemble wants to stay. But it may be too late. (Even my sources don’t know for sure at this point whether the character is going to be written off, although one insider insists he/she ultimately got their wish.)

The article describes the person as being a “Darabont loyalist”, which immediately brought to mind two very specific castmembers: Laurie Holden (Andrea) and Jeffrey DeMunn (Dale). Both have been in their fair share of Darabont movies, with Holden having worked with Darabont on “The Mist” and “The Majestic”, and DeMunn, besides also working on “The Mist” and “The Majestic”, was also in Darabont’s “The Shawshank Redemption”. No doubt one of these two was not very pleased when AMC had that tiff with Darabont that eventually resulted in Darabont being unceremoniously booted from the show.

This is Hollywood, after all, where the ego is king, so even if this castmember has since had a changed of heart, I suspect he/she might still get their wish, if just for the AMC suits to prove that they can’t be pushed around by the castmembers. It would definitely set a precedent, and since neither actors are main characters, their departure wouldn’t really hurt the show too much in terms of storyline.

Though if it ended up being Laurie Holden, I would be very, very displeased. She is easily my favorite character on the show, right next to the hapless Glenn.
