I just woke up.  not always this fast haha.

Thanks for the tip. I'll keep that in mind  thumbsup.gif
Thanks for the additional details Ramjade.  So if I understand this correctly, steps should be

1.  apply for the CIMB SG Fastsaver account online
2.  submit my MY residence documentation/Canadian passport/MY work permit details etc..
3.  Account will go under verification
4.  If I end up getting approved (even with no CIMB MY account), send $1000sgd vis instarem/MM to the newly opened SG CIMB Fastsaver account?

Since I have the SG Maybank ISavvy account, that could be my option as well to send the funds?

Yes,.. if you can pass the steps of the documentation stage for your application of the CIMB Saver FastSaver, use your Maybank SG to FAST-in the $1000.

Haa,... if this is true and you don't need work permit documents to pass the verification step for CIMB SG, we have found a loop-hole here for Malaysian account applicants to open an account at CIMB SG.[B]

Thanks Ramjade.  I'll give this a shot when I come back from my business trip.
I didn't know that I could open the SG account without having a CIMB MY account.  Hopefully it works out.

I'll keep the thread updated.

I am living proof of the method above.
Other people more cun than me. Open using Cimb clicks Malaysia only. I used the above method as last time cannot use Cimb clicks Malaysia to open.

You can open CIMB Sg account without opening CIMB My provided you have already got any existing Sg bank account which you can use to fund the initial sgd1k via FAST.

As for myself, I don't have a any existing Sg account when I applied to open CIMB Sg. So no choice, I need to open CIMB my account to fund and validate my Sg account. I only open CIMB my after my Cimb Sg account opening was successful.

Back from my business trip.

I've completed my CIMB FastSaver-i SG application and I got my account number & application number. Now I have to transfer the $1000SGD to my CIMB from my SG local bank account, which is my Maybank ISAAVY account.

Question I have. What's the best way to send money from my Maybank MY account to my Maybank SG account? I'm only showing Western Union and Telegraphic/SWIFT Transfer.

Pardon my newbie knowledge on the bank systems here as I'm still new to KL, but are those my only two options to send?

Why do you need a Islamic fast saver? Best to go with normal fast saver.

Avoid using banks to transfer money overseas whether to SG or back to Canada. You are easily paying more (hike up exchange rate + fees, fees and more fees)

Use services provided by fintech. Cheaper and faster. Recommended fintech
Instarem (I think they service Klang Valley, Penang, Johor area for KYC), Moneymatch (they have etc so you can open account anywhere you have internet) and max money (guess they only have service KL)

KYC is where you meet them to verify your identity, documents.

Cheapest rate so far
Max money (haven't use them)
Instarem (always use them, their rates not bad)
Moneymatch (used to use them then it got expensive vs instarem, some people said if transfer around 1130-1150
on Sunday night can be chepaer than instarem. Not sure true or not. Going to test it out)

Regarding the Islamic Fastsaver, I'll be honest I actually didn't know lol. I just bookmarked a link that was previously in this thread. I'll check out the regular fastsaver.

Will check out Instarem. Thanks for the advice thumbup.gif

Actually I think same only. Reason don't like Islamic account is that they have may restriction on you. I only go for Islamic account in malaysia if there are perks.

Cimb SG or transferwise. I prefer transferwise cheaper. Of course you don't be like our friend here Jack2 who kena banned from transferwise. for God knows what he did. So far I had no issue with transferwise. Rate cheap and speed fast.
