if it's just a one-off error, but installs alright, shouldn't be a problem.

if not, as i mentioned earlier, i highly suspect a hardware failure of some sort.

main culprits are RAM, HDD, or GC. since urs is new, might as well get Dell to diagnose the problem

I encounter several problems while formatting the beast
[1] blank screen + restart after installing ATI new driver the 10.7. Sticking to the driver supplied from dells website clears the problem

[2]Turbo Boost Technology cannot be installed, after hours finding a solution, one person quote that its not a progra, its already embedded inside the BIOS.

[3]HDD failure, due to different configuration in the BIOS, i accidently used "load best setting", which made the HDD non SATA 0 capable. Switching the SATA 0 to enable actually finished the job

[4] Login wallpaper, After googling for ages, finally came across to a simple solution, but the solution was resolved several restarts later, which made me in the middle, searching for other solutions

[5] Starcraft 2 no unit problem, after installing all other software and finally patched sc2, i cannot see any one, after googling for some time, solutions was found by disabling crossfire, seems that SC2 got problems with the current 5870 Driver

Od1N.

I meant the NC2000 models cost half your notepad cooler... wanted to know the edge NZXT has over that so that I can weigh in the cost increase to get yours instead of the Zalman.

Also, I'm on the ATI 10.5 Driver. I feel this is zee most stable for me. Didn't know that 5870 on CF doesn't work with SC2 as mine is loaded with a single 5870....

Based on all the problems, if it was shipped in that condition I'd demand a new unit or the engineer to come sort it out. But seems like you're capable enough to solve all the issues. Kudos.

Thx, really tired, might go early tonight.

NC2000 air flow design does not quite fit with the design from Alienware as it only allow to channel air from front to middle. LX focuses more to the middle and backside of the laptop, also there are slotted grills infront so it still provide a small amount of air to circulate.

But truth be told this question on LX vs NC2000 has been in debate for nearly a year. I cant even keep up with it. Some are with facts and some are with Fanboism

http://forum.notebookreview.com/gateway-em...m-nc2000-2.html

my conclusion is both has it's own pro's and cons but both delivers good quality air flow for gaming laptop since both are finished with aluminum. For me its nicer as i can change the fan if i feel like putting some fans with lights in it, easy to clean comparing to NC, and the design is spot on with the Alienware vents. And it just looks awesome.

I believe they assemble it in the US before shipping to Penang, depends in the specification.

1 - like i said before, you have to download and install the driver from Dell website since your version is the latest.

2 - TurboBoost is not a program. its automated function that you not able to adjust/control or whatsoever except turning ON or OFF only.

3 - yep, you have to set the HDD configuration to RAID-0 in the bios if this is your first time booting up or when you reformat. if not, the HDD can't be access because of the other possible probabilities of configurations.

4 - i don't face any about that... sweat.gif

5 - Starcraft is well know about its weakly optimized engine to latest hardware, especially ATi HD5870.

nope. all the assembly process is been done in China. even the same things happened to Dell.uk / Dell.us too.

in fact, almost all things nowadays is made in China. no worry about that.
