QUOTE(julchin_09 @ Jun 1 2010, 07:42 PM) Welcome to the club. Im not using the M17x but I'm running the ATI 5870 in my M15x so we can compare notes. Here's a short comparison between the GTX 260M and the ATI 5870. Will have to reinstall NVidia Physx as certain games like METRO 2033 and programs like 3DMarksVantage will prompt for Physxloader.dll to be present before it will work. I had mine taken out due to preparations to install my 5870. From initial testings, the 5870 has significant improvements over the 260M in games like Battelfield Bad Company 2. Will update more benchmarks and 3dmarks after I've gotten all the drivers sorted. Also, my aliensense has now ceased to detect my face nor even start during startup which is an issue I have to resolve. But temps for the 5870 is in its 70s so I'm keeping my fingers crossed my Artic Cooling paste is doing its job..... RESIDENT EVIL 5( 1920X1080, 4XAA, All settings Max, VSync Off) GTX 260M 1GB DDR3 [attachmentid=1604930] ATI 5870 1GB DDR5 [attachmentid=1604932] wow... i am impressed! it seems everything goes quite well. regarding Aliensense, have you check your Alienware Command Center? its not a direct complication from changing GPU, i believe. QUOTE(Lil Kiasu @ Jun 1 2010, 07:51 PM) @julchin, try asking Intel the make the 980xm and slap it to your lappie~ I wanna see the benchmark result~

Yes it not supposed to affect. But I worry I might have deleted something while cleaning the registry but I checked before I proceeded. And I haven't forgotten the vacuum pic which I will upload here. From now on its monitoring the temps and getting physx installed and of course, uploading the pics here.... As for the 980xm, I don't think I will want to slap it on considering it might cost RM4K or more which I think I'd rather buy a new future M17x which comes with it and the GTX 480M...

In terms of aesthetics, my M15x is build pretty solidly and even after opening and closing the housing many times, it all still clicks into place. The only thing I have issues with is the lousy screws which easily gets warped or the grooves out of shape once screwed one too many times but its only a hindrance if you're the type that likes to open the housing to apply paste or clean the vents etc......
