Review for Lexus FS 5W-40 oil.
Power is there, but I don't really know the effects last long or not as I've just used it for 1000KM mileage. One bad thing about it is, it increases my car's FC. Now my car can get only 7km/l with normal driving. Not sure any part of my car has gone wrong or not, but i suspect it's the main culprit. Hesitating to change the oil back to SS tho (due to it's still fresh as only 1000KM traveled), really cannot tahan the FC. RM50 get less than 200KM. |

QUOTE(Quazacolt @ Feb 24 2012, 12:46 PM) there's a further viscosity index chart for higher temperatures. example: I cannot find the spec of Lexus FS oil in google http://www.liqui-moly.de/liquimoly/mediend...2010W-40_EN.pdf I contacted the suppliers, and they said I would need to contact Lexus for information on viscosity at 40 C/100 C, VI and TBN. When I contacted the dealership, all I was told was it's "special oil for Lexus, very good oil"...which doesn't mean sheet. The supplier produces their own 5W-40 full synthetic, but the specs do not match (SL/CF vs SM, etc.). |

I am one of the Lexus 5W-40 users, it help my Toyota Corolla AE111 to achieve even better FC woh (Previous using 10W-40 ELF semi)... But 1 thing i sure, is the oil easy to thin.. Especially around 5000km, the oil level will drop a bit below the Max level... By the way, my engine is 4A-GE 20V and i rev quite a lot.. It is a cheap fully syn oil, which i think is better compare to some semi-syn selling at the same price... Anyway, since it is so cheap.. I also change the oil around 7000km..
The reason why FC worsen, i believe your previous oil viscosity must be lower.. Coz i experience it when i help my sister P. Kelisa to change oil to Lexus 5W-40 (Ori is Petronas 5W-30) the car felt quite heavy a bit and the FC worsen.. |

Perhaps it doesn't suit my car. Btw, previous oil viscosity lower? Maybe LM SS oil viscosity is really lower than Lexus FS oil.. lol.. higher viscosity means thicker, lower viscosity means thinner.. By right 5W-40 should be thinner than 10W-40 right? The reason why FC worsen, i believe your previous oil viscosity must be lower.. Coz i experience it when i help my sister P. just got my 2nd LM... but this time 10w40.... 10w30 is really nice.... balik kampung to penang 5000rpm all the way lol.... (me using kancil 880) and still can go further but scared lol... but due to a problem with my engine i decided to use a thicker oil and i still considered LM as my best bet....
lets see how it goes..... btw... now days i just love driving my old car even more lol! |
