hey guys... i wanna ask...

now im looking at Q8 plus 15W40 since the price is a bit affordable...
but now the problem is i dont know where to find it in kajang/bangi area...
and i only encountered Sumo R4 5W30 for K-Cars and the price around RM110.

now my problem is my car is Kancil EX880 2001 and i prefer mineral oil than semi/fully synthetic....

so my question is...

1. is Q8 plus 15W40 really good for my engine and worth my trouble to go to sunway (which i could think the nearest place to buy the oil)

2. what about Sumo R4 5W40?

3. what other mineral oil that you guys could recommend for me? around RM100 and below but if really good wont mind going up a bit...

thanks in advance and sorry if this is the wrong thread....

and i really suggest Liqui moly/torco (my car on LM, sentra on Torco) over Q8 tongue.gif

either oil i could help you carry and pass on the next tt/arrangement
lm i can take from elton, torco i can take from my nearby mech shop, or if you think expensive then can buy from lyn seller here who sells cheaper

1) not much comment for Q8, lm/torco beats it on specs/brand, id rather stick to those. that said, Q8 and torco under same malaysian distributor. if you ask about those 2 instead, id say yes.

2) no comment

3) none. ss/fs better so long you can stretch the budget, by like rm20 LOL. and imho, your car stick to ss enough, my car is year 1999 somemore and i sayang it with semi syn liqui moly wink.gif
and yes, lm ~rm11x while torco 11x-12x
for your car xw30 is ideal
*
if those motor oil are available in kajang/bangi.... i wont mind... so... Torco or liqui moly yea? i'll try to find it in kajang/bangi area 1st then.

thanks again....

i need to use a bit thicker oil since one of my piston is a bit loose

anyways decided to get a liqui moly..... biggrin.gif

good insights from the video bro.

well, my car aint exactly a precision engine, more like RAW mechanical horsepower, and that gets dirty easily
hell, notice between old and new cars, old cars' engine bays tend to get dirtier/blacker compared to cars today

probably to emission controls and lacking precision in combustion and what not.
however yeah, ever since ceratec, i also skip out on flushing as i dont wanna flush my ceramic coat  sweat.gif

Added on January 20, 2012, 11:59 pm

depends on what flush bro, so far millers oil/lambda primer positive feedback with them, however for one time i left my lambda primer overnight to you know, "clean more" before the OCI. next morning the engine is like half dead lol, lucky the workshop isnt too  far, drive over and perform the OCI as scheduled smile.gif

anyways good luck with your LM evaluation smile.gif
and drive safe

thanks bro....

for this couple of days been using MOS2 leichtlauf 4100 10W30 (Semi Synthetic) 4L and it had its toughest test.... driving from kl to penang. on the way back i was so shock because the engine feels more responsive than total 20w 30 ive been using before. not to mention the vibration of my engine have heavily reduced... its like driving a new kancil lol! tried at PLUS highway and pushing the limits of my 11 years old kancil and it handles like a champ!
from penang to kl also the same thing.... i push the limit of my car and the engine oil to the test it feels more responsive than before....!!! i just could not believe it an engine oil alone can achieved this!
i will with out a doubt use this engine oil again and been recommending it to my father and couple of my friends....

so in short:

MOS2 leichtlauf 4100 10W30 (Semi Synthetic) 4L

pros:
- engine vibration were heavily reduced to very minimal vibration... feels like driving new car...
- acceleration feels more responsive
- engine feels lighter and have a lot of power

cons:
none that i can think of accept its easily dried but this is expected since one of my piston is a bit loose and the mechanic did advice me to use a thicker engine oil to reduced the engine oil loss but im more than a satisfied customer!

glad you enjoy it.

as for the engine oil consumption, kancil is MEANT to use xw30 (unless the manual says otherwise, in that case please correct me if im wrong) so if you're using xw30 and you're having consumption problems, you may want to do some overhauling and replace some seals/gasket wink.gif

used to face that before however after the complete engine rebuild, good bye to such problems already despite using lm xw40 which my car specifications require xw50 tongue.gif
*
Did top overhaul last december. Like i said one of my piston is a bit loose and for a while the machanic advise me to use a thicker motor oil. Last time my budget didnt permit me to do total overhaul. Now saving to repair it.

sort of la... my engine now feel smoother... very the quiet one....

my friend engine (he's using gen2 1.6 campro) also feel smoother and can go 170km/h++ without any vibration (thou he really needs to change a new front tayar)

haha same here, full bottle ceratec ma.
max speed 160-165km/h (give/take around proton's advertised speed of 162km/h)

barely any vibration, more towards the cheapo chassis flexing around, not to mention the floaty feel being a light hatchback 1.5l car, severe wind noise/resistance and you know, proton being a proton. lol

at most theres the usual high rpm engine whines (post 5k rpm and still flooring accelerator pedal) which i believe shouldn't be anything to do with the engine/engine oil, i heard its due to the valves or chambers releasing pressure? not too sure on that though.

with new 15" rims upgrade and c.drive 2 tires, the car is a ton more stable, and NVH is also drastically reduced. just a pity i cant do much about the wind noise, and speeding too much too often in my car can be hazardous as it has zero modern safety features  sweat.gif
*
talk about wind noise.... that gen2 also got that... 130km/h and start to hear wind noises....

hehehe yeah... driving kancil at top speed 130km/h++ at highway is not recommended.... feels like want to terbalik any given time lol!

cant be helped, proton aerodynamics can only go so far. i believe the perdana (more towards a much heavier chassis and probably sound dampening) or FL/FLX would be the best in terms of aerodynamics.

anyways i personally recommend that you try LM for 1 OCI, then next OCI try ceratec full bottle. as you will know the before/after much more clearly. and be more convinced (or vice versa) if it is worth it or not wink.gif
*
i want to try 10w40 after this. 10w30 is really best while u accelerating but my engine drinks the oil like nobody business... if i can get the 10w40 to at least slow down the oil drainage then i'll try ceratec full bottle....

yeah good call, no point to spend so much just to have it all leaked out lol. (though eventually on your OCI you will need to have it drained. just that by then majority of the ceratec will bond with your engine already biggrin.gif
*
hopefully when i already have some money to do full overhaul (thinking of upgrading my kancil engine lol...) and the oil drainage problem is solved i'll be switching back to 10w30.... but in the mean time i have to settle for 10w40 and maybe another round i'll use ceretac full bottle....

with regards to the gen2, try chasis foaming to resolve the chasis flex.
im currently using only the lm ss 10/40 and i can hit up to 160. my cruising speed is 150.
so. next thing i wanna try is ceratec...
*
seriously bro u should try..... i can hit 170km/h++ and i know i can go more with my friend gen2 but chickened out since i feel a bit wobbly on the steering wheel... (the front tyres are kindda bald and i was speeding when its raining lol).

chasis foaming yeah? i'll poison my friend to try that one after this.... brows.gif

if you're not really into performance/modding, can just settle for a complete overhaul/engine rebuild just to restore what is lost (leaks, power loss, color smokes lol) and thats it lo. exactly what i did.

too bad my engine ady specified xw50 and my heavy leaded foot high revving all day erry day, else ill give xw30 a try too LOL
*
im looking for performance, hence i'll be doing some minor modification to satisfy my need for speed lol....

just got my 2nd LM... but this time 10w40.... 10w30 is really nice.... balik kampung to penang 5000rpm all the way lol.... (me using kancil 880) and still can go further but scared lol... but due to a problem with my engine i decided to use a thicker oil and i still considered LM as my best bet....

lets see how it goes..... btw... now days i just love driving my old car even more lol!

if engine got problems better fix it bro...otherwise the fc will be higher due to engine felt heavy coz of thicker oil
*
i did try 10w50 before.... no problem on FC but car feels heavy lah....
of course i want fix it but financial is what holding me right now... for now this is a temporary solution and should be more than sufficient....

So far we have the usuals (shell/petronas/castrol/elf/nasa/idemitsu/toyota/honda) here, and motul, m7, hks, pennzoil, etc. and everything else usually need to outsource from somewhere else. have never seen liquimoly over here.

quite limited choice
*
u should try... i myself using Liqui Moly... and boy was i surprise for the 1st time when i use it.... car feels lighter, reduce noise sufficiently.... can go faster.... now i love driving my kancil than before...

Just change my engine oil to torco sr-5 10w30 semi syn. Sound a bit rough when idle. But when its running and high revving it feels really good. Smooth and engine feels so light.

Tr5. Sorry for the mistake lol. Since changing to JB DET engine i really need to high rev since the engine it self is a high revver. (redline is 8.5k rpm). So driving with 3k-4k rpm seems not logical for me lol.
I bought it at sunway. Sorry dont know where to find in sarawak
