Hi all, I'm buying laptop for my mother. She'll be using it for writing letters, surfing the net and playing audio CD.

1. Brand - any brand would do
2. Budget - not more than RM2500
3. Specs - she wants the color to be customizable, preferably green. She prefers to use genuine Windows and Office.
4. Size - 14" to 15" screen

Hope you guys can help me out.

Thank you.

The inspiron still offer colour option, you need to choose higher price model or non-fastrack model though...

Other brand mostly don't offer customization.

I see, then I will ask her later. Thanks for the highlight guys. Another question, I'm experiencing a heat problem with my laptop Compaq V3751au (this is an old model). So any specific model or brand that have the heat issue so that I wont buy it?

Just avoid the one using Nvidia 8400M/8600M or compaq v3000 series should do fine...

I see, then I think intergrated Intel graphics should do just fine. Afterall, she's not going to play games on that laptop. tongue.gif

Toshiba Satellite L510-B402 would be better for gaming...
Though for similar price, can consider Dell Inspiron 13R, i3 350M + ATi HD5470, HomeBasic@RM2299, but no dvd drive... or Inspiron 14R, same spec but 14''@RM2399...

Another question from me, do different processors give different performance? Like do the cache size matter?

first part of the qn, yes...

2nd part of the qn, depends on wat CPU u re talking abt... for Core 2/Core i, 3MB/4MB is the sweet spot... for Turion II/Athlon II, doesn't really matter...

Asus UL30VT and Lenovo Ideapad U350

bro, between these two models which one is better? for net surfing, movies and some office works. in terms of specs, what i know is that asus has 500GB HDD (lenovo 320GB) and better graphic card. Other than that, any difference between these two in terms of reliability, warranty & performance?

Thanks

u may probably want to take a look at the likes of Dell Inspiron M301z and 13R instead... both are running on the latest hardware...

Performance wise and warranty would go to Asus UL30Vt since it got built-in overclock CPU to 1.73GHz and also default comes with 2 years warranty....

well, 13R is cheaper, but 3300 has even better support (it's a business laptop afterall)...

it seems that V3300 is more nicer in its look.
