well, the main reason i prefer AMD is graphic... not so much abt gaming, but stream architecture GPU goes a long way when comes to GPGPU... and Intel falls short on that...

1GB is purely overkill unless u re using cards like HD5850 or GTX 285M

i had read the review about HD5870 1GB and HD5870 2GB. the performance is almost the same even thought the different by 1GB VRAM...

Shiny doesn't mean its good o tongue.gif
Toshiba notebooks with glossy surfaces can "attract" fingerprints faster than CSI laugh.gif

Well, usually if its a DELL, we strongly suggest you to get it ONLINE, because you can choose the spec the way you want it nod.gif..guessing DELL outlet should have a pre-configured unit of Dell Inspiron 14R nod.gif..can't help you about your area though because not from there icon_rolleyes.gif

A good choice but can know what is your maximum budget?? smile.gif

Dell 14R can't customize like other model, how ever u customize it, it also same as the market model but market provide u ready stock and free gift@ discount.. price should be the same except the dealer mark up the price or not yet update the price.

okay I'm reposting coz I think this is the right thread to ask..

Guys, do u think the current XPS 16 promo (RM2999) is worth it?

Honestly I'm only afraid that in future that the spare parts for this model finished/EOL since it's old tech.. (I think it's fine for processor & GPU not up to date or is it not? rclxub.gif )

Is it true that if under warranty & laptop beyond repair, dell will refund the $$ to buy dell product?

My configuration would be..

Alpine White 15.6 " 1080p WUXGA (1920x1080) WLED Full HD Display with 2MP cam
Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor P8700 (2.53GHz/ 1066 FSB/ 3MB Cache)
Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium 64bit (English)
4GB (2 X 2GB) Dual Channel 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM
320GB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive
3-year XPS Premier Service with 3-year CompleteCover
1GB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4670
6-Cell (56WHr) Li-Ion Primary Battery

RM3763 after RM200 redemption
RM3613 if add RM150 coupon

And err.. 2/3 yrs warranty is a must for me so with RM3.8k my other option would be N82JV/Acer 5745.. or is there other models u could recommend?

Pls advise notworthy.gif notworthy.gif

yes it's worth it... best performing for rm3k...

if Dell really run out of parts to repair during ur warranty period, chances are they will replace the it with a model of the same class at that time...

i ve heard 1 or 2 cases where some guys spoilt but still under warranty XPS M1530 replaced with SXPS16...

hmm the highest i would go is around rm2800...

ya thats what i'm afraid of if i buy straight from outlet sad.gif BUT if i get it online i would have to use credit card n all right ?

say, what if i go to the outlet then tell the people there what spec i want and have them deliver to me later..is that possible ? tongue.gif

iirc Dell accepts bank draft as well... though that will take longer to process...

anyway, Dell is currently clearing up it's stock of SXPS16 with C2D and HD4670 starting from rm3k... worth taking a look also...

The last sentence, i don't think so sweat.gif..they will only sell what they have, but still maybe you can nego them a bit icon_rolleyes.gif..well, like astria said, you can also use bank draft nod.gif...

And considering your budget, why don't you take a look at Dell SXPS 16 which is on promotion now selling @RM2999 icon_rolleyes.gif
