Do not have to be 4xx series to out. There are RUMOURS that a new 4820TG is coming out which has a 8 hours battery life and a 5650 with switchable graphics ability. Although the performance will be almost the same but the battery life somehow matters too..and few other aspects.

1 thing I like Asus is they provide 2 years warranty while other brand only 1 year

the Best value gaming laptop is the Sager NP8960 which comes with a 5870 GDDR5 card @ RM4.2k
the next one would be the Asus A42JA which comes with i7 740QM + ATi HD5730 @ RM3599
then its the A42Jv which is around RM2.5k

the 5650 version comes with 6 hr battery life. cause this version is available in singapore. They also have the 3820TG with 5650, 13" laptop.

Planning to get a notebook for my brother, currently looking at Lenovo U460 or G460, main criteria is durability, since my brother isn't very gentle with his stuff... :-) Otherwise, use for the computer is videos, internet and the occasional games (like WoW)

Just want to know if there is a newer / better model? Going to buy the notebook by next week.

Ah, I meant the best bang for the buck gaming machine among the lower-mid price (rm2000-3000) laptops. I guess the A42Jv still dominates in that category...

Someone on the forum said that Acer 4820TG with HD 5650 is already on the market, that would probably be a better option for that category.

Asus A42dr is clear winner in terms of performance. (Well the S42 is close to the A42Dr, but the 5470 has dx11 support, the 9600m GT doesn't... not to mention is S42 is quite old already...)

yea, the Intel P8700 is better than the AMD P320, but the Asus laptop is newer and supports Dx11 la....

but the compaq cq42-268tx have i3 350m. is it better than those processor in asus a42dr?

not to mention acer 4741g with gt420m coming in anytime, pawn both machine in raw performance but still battery life is at 4820 favor

dx11 wont give much difference in low end product. if side by side compare both machine in gaming performance, s42 should win...

i3 is ulv if im not outdated.

i3 is not a ULV. it just doesn't have the turbo boost like i5.
GT420m not at 5650 level la... the GT425 = GT335
and the GT335 is right below the 5650.
