Hello guys, I got question to ask. Which is better, LED or common LCD monitor? The promoter said that LED is energy saving and can protect eye even when the room is dark.

But there is other people tell me that LED has a bright flash, only make the eye more irritated, is it true?

I plan to buy 18.5'' LED monitor, Acer, RM349. Is it worth to buy it?

LED does offer lower energy consumption. It depends, have you look into the display unit? About LED hurting eyes, I am not sure. I reckon glossy screen do may eyes tired.

Seems that people are still confuse about the backlight technology, LED and LCD are 2 different technology to begin with, LED belong to backlight technology, LCD is the panel technology (what you're looking at).
Traditional LCD is lighten up using CCFL (the long white tube bulb), it generate heats thus consume much power compare to LED of which produce little to no heat at all.
For LCD, currently only TN and VA panel are backlight by LED, TN are first panel backlighted by LED.
LED can produce better brightness but does not end up with better contrast, like the marketing gimmick of 8M:1 contrast ratio, etc.
If you heard about LED kills eyes, then think at people who're using CRT (fat fat monitor) way back then, those lights that produce enough UV to cause cancer -.-;;. If it's too bright then adjust the brightness down to a comfortable level that suits you.

Deciding between U2311H & ST2420L. Please suggest which to go for. And the ultrasharp version of 24" price is no longer found in dell website, U2410 anyone know the price for this before the price tag was taken off.

the U2410 was priced RM1699 last time iinm.
Between the U2311H and the ST2420L,it's a no brainer imo unless you need 24p playback/1:1 pixel scaling. What do you want to use LCD for actually? If it's for colour uniformity sensitive jobs then i suggest the 2209WA instead, this is because the panel uniformity for the U2311H is quite hit and miss. Some people have gotten them with tinting issues, while a majority didn't.

I think that just a application that give you another way to adjust the brightness, contrast and also other setting on your computer instead you touch the hard button on monitor.

it is THAT much better, the U2311H uses an 8bit panel which can display true 16.7million colours unlike 6bit TN in most LCDs below RM1000,the viewing angles are also much larger. The stand also has tilt, height and swivel function built in.

don't be fooled by the LED screen markteting,it is pretty much the same except for some power savings.Normal CCFL backlit LCDs use around 35w while LED backlit ones use 25w,the difference is just 10w
Assuimg the electricity tariff is RM0.3 per kW,you'll just save RM12 per year [12 hours usage per day].
