Dell monitor all dull one, I don't know about Samsung cause no fix price list online.
For some monitors pricing, you can go to pczonecomputer.com and compu-zone.com to download their pricelist, they can be used as guide line for your budget.

When you look at Ultrasharp series, simple straight-forward 1.7cm width frame all around, no fancy curve, no piano shiny finish, very simple button, that's dull.
When you look at Acer, Samsung for example, all their latest one, has very slim, sexy stand, the frame has piano shiny finish, transparent curve to make the monitor looks much attractive. drool.gif
So it'll depends on what customer is looking for, some like fancy shiny stuff, some like me just look at the features and the panel tech.
Oh, I like the U2311H bulky leg, hehehe whistling.gif

Those are dynamic contrast, does not really has any different when you view it side by side. Marketing gimmick.
Please look at those monitor review to check their actual contrast ratio.

U2311H does not have good viewing angle, have tested myself on 1 which my boss client company has 1 (surfing and office document, wtf doh.gif )
The brightness will change slightly when you view from side way, but color and contrast still remain pretty much the same, only got dimmer.
And as for 2209WA, since there's youtube review of this model, you can search youtube for this 2 model side by side comparison.
The rest is up to you, your $$ and your decision icon_rolleyes.gif
*
I'm fine with the brightness as long as the color and contrast remains pretty much the same.
it's also not like I'm going to put the 3 monitors at 90 degrees.

shit, sorry man,i read the wrong product details,it isn't a 19" LCD and it doesn't use TN panel.seeing the [real] viewing angles and the fact that it's a samsung,it should be using a VA panel instead.

if you get the dell,it's much cheaper and you'll have dell's warranty for the LCD but the bezel's gonna be 3.4cm thick.for me that's really distracting.on the other hand the samsung has a thinner bezel but the cost and warranty issue is too much to swallow.

tl;dr
i can't tell which is better for your eyefinity setup

it couldn't be a graphic card if it's that cheap.this is the first time i've heard of it.
though based on your description i think it's an adapter that connects to the X4500 IGP adding another port for display. The X4500 should support two displays at once natively if you have the ports needed

QUOTE(everling @ Nov 2 2010, 01:11 PM)
I'm not an expert, but while it lacks HDMI connectivity, that LCD does supports HDCP. Iianm, HDCP is the main reason you can't play original blu-rays, so it might be possible to get original blu-ray support via a HDCP compatible HDMI to DVI-D adaptor. An expert might clear this up.

As for home made editions, they should just work as there are no DRM to thwart you. Also, they tend to follow the frame rate of the source video, 24p videos will be kept as 24fps, as changing the frame rate tends to cause more trouble to get a good encode.

Also, there are two ways to provide 1:1 scaling. One is that the monitor recognises the input needs to be adjusted to its supported screen resolutions. The second is the graphics card doing the transformation for you and then send the appropriately sized frames to the monitors. Again, somebody with more expertise might help with this issue.
*
HDCP support is there, that's why you can play PS3 games on it fine.Have you ever seen Blu Ray demos for LCDs in stores?Notice the super smooth lifelike motions? That's 24p playback. The LCD is supposed to be able to do 1920x1080/24Hz for 24p playback. Now,i'm not sure whether 24p is optional or mandatory for Blu Ray movies playback, but if you've bought the rather expensive discs you'll want it to display at it's best wouldn't you?

about the scaling,i prefer the LCD to be able to do it properly.

I'm not using for gaming. Using for spreadsheet and charts. So cannot be too dull also.

A lot of Dell fan in this thread, but for me Dell's monitor, although might be good quality, the design is too old-style and "dull". I want something that looks good on my table, not some old square plastic box.

Samsung however, i lack faith in, you have to make sure you get a GOOD unit, that itself might be a real challenge...

Dell monitors, especially the Ultrasharp and Professional series is for serious user, not for those who'll show off their monitor or for self-satisfaction, so I think myself is not the one that'll look at the cover first, panel quality come first. Samsung right now has quite poor QC after they become popular few years back, and their panel is getting out of hand, I myself have since not so fond of the brand, been fan of the CRT monitors (until 2 units broke down in 2 years, shame!).

You can have a look at TVs, it'll cost you dearly but for the price, the finishing of the covers looks great and attractive.

U2711: resolution is 2560x1440, IPS panel, 60Hz, for serious graphic professional.
AW2310: resolution is 1920x1080, TN panel, 120Hz, for 3D gaming and movies.
Your $$ your decision, if I can afford that amount, I'll take U2711 anytime.

P2311H is TN, LED, faster response time 5ms WTB.
U2311H is IPS, CCFL, slower response time 6ms GTG.
Other specs such as the stands, features almost the same.

well, not being a fan of any brand here, but personally i'll take panel quality+functionality over design any given day,Those U and P series monitors are designed with function over form in mind [large stand with tilt and swivel etc,usb ports].Besides,do you look at the screen or the bezel?

the one in the amazon link you posted before.
i'd take the U2311H over the P2311H,if you use a TN panel for an eyefinity6 setup you'll run into problems with viewing angles .btw, you might want to look at the 2209WA,it has an even better panel quality than the U2311H.
