<<LED does offer lower energy consumption. It depends, have you look into the display unit? About LED hurting eyes, I am not sure. I reckon glossy screen do may eyes tired.>>
<<I bought LED unit LG brand 22" (HD)...
not sure what different between led n lcd but my old LG LCD not as
bright as current LED (but my old already 3 yo - 17 inch)>>
<<Seems that people are still confuse about the backlight technology, LED and LCD are 2 different technology to begin with, LED belong to backlight technology, LCD is the panel technology (what you're looking at).
Traditional LCD is lighten up using CCFL (the long white tube bulb), it generate heats thus consume much power compare to LED of which produce little to no heat at all.
For LCD, currently only TN and VA panel are backlight by LED, TN are first panel backlighted by LED.
LED can produce better brightness but does not end up with better contrast, like the marketing gimmick of 8M:1 contrast ratio, etc.
If you heard about LED kills eyes, then think at people who're using CRT (fat fat monitor) way back then, those lights that produce enough UV to cause cancer -.-;;. If it's too bright then adjust the brightness down to a comfortable level that suits you.>>
Thanks for the info guys, now I've made up my mind.
Buy LED LCD monitor, save energy!
