you did judge it with "most accurate range" 3k-8k?
my most accurate range would be 0-100k, your salary definitely in this range
*
then give us know a better answer if you have one.

for non oil and gas, 3K- 8k is reasonanle to me. Some sale engineer have a low basic but have a cut from their sales. As mentioned, there is a supply of enginner from some country with 5 years working experience and willing to take 3K+ pay. To them, the entry ticket to SG alone worth more than their salary.

Most engineering degree depreciate as technology change. Engineering jobs that value experience hands are getting lesser in SG. Most company just do modular replacement or out source complex task to cheaper country etc, so the company can hire any enginner to do that kind of jobs.

Nowadays even simple repair jobs are being outsourced to china. But people do it at their own risk or are desperate. Recently there was one DNV ship which came from china, the whole engine room was flooded with fuel since the fuel lines were done in china. I heard the DNV surveyor in china is gonna get it, but then again, you get what you paid for and the ching chong surveyor was doing his job ala "close one eye".

I had a colleague who went to china and noticed most of the workers over there are unskilled, talk about asking a farmer with no prior knowledge in machine fabrication to do their job properly and in accordance to DNV standards. Heck they even defecate themselves in the workplace, and a woman no less.

I guess everybody in the shipping industry will have headaches once china produced start pumping out at an increasing rate due to south korea and japan shipyards having their hands full with pre-orders till 2012.

same as iphone and most PCB production.

Who make the call?

- The consumer who demand for "value for money" or cheapest product?
- The managemnet train boss who can only understand sales chart and profit margin?
Quality? Just ask the marketing guys to "rebrand" "reposition" the same old product.

- The under power young enginner who always want to refine the spec that only engineer appreciate it.
- The old bird engineer who just do what boss says or what the cunsumer willing to pay?

That's my view on engineering environment in SG. I hope I am wrong.

I just rented a room 4 days ago, with quite a nasty owner
Living with a pair of old retired couple, stays at home 24/7 and watch me do everything
Bathe only 2 times allowed, washing machine(manual kind) use twice a week maximum 4 pairs, not allowed to hang my clothes when I'm out, i need to be in to wait for my clothes to dry to collect them, must let them know what time I return home, and where I go etc etc...
Really regret for making such a rush decision and paid so much for agent fee!
I think sooner or later I might lose my professionalism and throw temper, haha

Plan to move out in 3 months time! haha, better not stay with owner imo.
Property prices in Sg is really, sigh. Weekend crowd in shopping mall, sigh. Lol.
*
i feel you man, really, went through these sh*thole before, seems like the agent pakat with the owner
left the place and forfeited my deposit else might start killing ppl back then lol.

I wish to apply long term visit pass for my parents.
One of the document required is the birth certificate must be in English.
Does anyone know where I can translate my birth certificate from Malay to English?
According to the Malaysian Embassy, they do not provide such service.

I agree. Use all three ways + friends. Nevertheless, coming to search job in Singapore without one would be costly. Unless you are in an industry that is in great demand, it will take some time.
