QUOTE(moo moo @ Jun 2 2010, 12:57 AM) hi there. any of u guys have any knowledge on this watch here? 450USD is a decent price. I bought mine at about 510USD. Traded it with a WIS in Puchong for his Landmonster+cash. It didn't work for me as I'm more into divers. It is a nice watch though and Lanatir's photos makes the watch look even better.http://livedoor.blogimg.jp/toku5052/imgs/9/b/9bd86a37.jpg Seiko SARB065 if it was 450USD, is it worth the buy? care to shed some light on this? |

My newest acquisition, Zeno Basel Oversize Diver.
The only thing I don't quite fancy is the quartz movement. I wish it is automatic or mechanical... More photos available at my blog http://ltwatchgallery.blogspot.com/2010/05...-z-to-zeno.html Happy viewing. This post has been edited by twom: Jun 3 2010, 04:56 PM |

QUOTE(patryn33 @ Jun 3 2010, 08:18 AM) sweet! I know Grand Seiko well finished, better than ROLEX. well, being watchmakers from a particular brand, they were reserved with their comments.any idea those ppl are comparing it with swiss watches like Tag? Omega? Tissot? anyway, imho, while i love the japanese philosophy, sometimes, seiko still lacks a bit of design knowhow, perhaps due to their re-using of parts for many different models. it is evident in many of their lower end models where the movement doesn't match the case size or when the second or minute hand are just too short. moreover, even on their grand seikos, the edge beveling need a bit more finishing and their credors' edge beveling is a bit too angular giving it a more machine look. i understand that seiko does this on purpose as they like to finish as much as possible by machine. conversely, i know some examples of swiss watches where mirror finishing on just 1 particular part is hand polished over 3 days using varying degrees of sandpaper (and even blocks of wood). seiko lacks the skilled manpower to allocate resources for such tasks in their haute horlogerie manufactories. just for comparison sake... a very nice credor http://forums.timezone.com/index.php?t=tre...=0&rev=&reveal= against the impeccable Dufour Simplicity http://www.ninanet.net/watches/others08/Mediums/mdufour.html of course the price range is a bit different... QUOTE(patryn33 @ Jun 3 2010, 10:59 AM) well, I don't think Seiko lacks abit of the design knowhow, they are just designing for their market for most watches. for their higher end, it's not so apparent because the models are similar and limited anyway.re-using of parts? are they done with those Grand Seiko or Credor too? but if u see, for example, even in the SARB065 and the SCVS013, the seconds hands are the same. and don't even need to look that far... see all the newer divers from Seiko reimplementing bezels, chapter rings, and other parts, mixing and matching, with some unconvincing results. nevertheless, as much as i wish Seiko does better in this aspect (and other questionable management decisions), i still love Seiko very much (and Citizen and Orient) and would love to get a GS one day. I'm also contemplating the Orient 60th anniv. |

where did u read about profits would go to charity? most firms would like to advertise it. didn't find it on their site hmm...
I think Mr Ford is doing it for free. http://www.hamiltonwatch.com/webapp/minisi...%20Earth_EN.pdf ![]() another site did state part of the profits would go to charity. The thing with Hamilton is they produce way too many watches and changes design too freq. wait 1 yr and watches flow into grey market. that time U see them selling for 40-50% off their MSRP. at AD Hamilton watch discount is ~30%. I guess AD are the ones contributing more to the charity. http://getinvolved.conservation.org/site/M...r?em_id=13661.0 |

Whether are they really contributing some of the profits to Conservation International, or how much, is still a debating issue. But I do hope they really do.
