Anyone here know where to get Zulu / Nato straps in KL/PJ?

Yeah u r rite. Plenty of fake Poljot and Vostok running around, not only online but now in KL as well.
There was a time when only luxury brands were counterfeited but these days anything goes, even fake Swatch watches are every where.

My friend bought a Junkers online. It came with a Junkers box, certificate of authenticity, etc. Only recently found out that it was a fake when he went to get a new strap.

I think the best way is to ask others or around watch forums about a particular site you are buying from and get some feedback.

I've only bought swiss/russian watch at the stores and have not purchase these online yet so I wouldn't know of any good sites. But for my Jap watches I buy often from sites I trust (higuchi/seiya) and have no problems with buying online, except once when the customs held my watch and asked me to pay duty (or kopi?).

He bought it off ebay. He went to RedArmy to get a new strap. According to RedArmy 1) they don't recognize that model. 2) it's a GMT but GMTs don't have words printed on the dial 3) the word on the dial says AUTOMATIC. Junkers spell it with a K as in AUTOMATIK.

Fakes r everywhere. It used to be you could only get a good replica in ChinaTown but nowadays if you go to Berjaya Times Sq, Sg Wang, Bkt Bintang, there's someone selling replica watches (and luxury handbags). If you go to Kota Dsara, pasar malam, you'll find replicas of G-Shock, Guess, Swatch, Levis, Adidas, etc. This are extremely popular with foreign workers who can't afford to splash 100bucks on a "luxury" replica.

I've only dealt with Passions in Bangsar (http://www.passions.com.sg) and CYT in Berjaya Times Square (http://www.cytwatch.com).

Sorry, I really don't know the details. I'm only saying what was told to me by my friend. Because of what was told to him, he gave the watch to his nephew. Gosh, imagine if he found out that the watch is genuine and the salesperson was misinformed.

I wonder if these salespeople when they are hired, are they given training or a book/manual to read on the history of the brand, etc? Or are they just taught to serve the customer by getting the watch out of the display case.

Yes, especially after Osama bin Laden was seen wearing it in his video. It's also the watch that terrorists prefer because it's easy to mod into a trigger for bombs.

450USD is a decent price. I bought mine at about 510USD. Traded it with a WIS in Puchong for his Landmonster+cash. It didn't work for me as I'm more into divers. It is a nice watch though and Lanatir's photos makes the watch look even better.

Saw it on your blog a few days back. Didn't know u were lurking in here. U're not far away from your A to Z collection.

The only thing that comes close to my mind is a Seiko 5. You could probably get a basic auto for RM200-220.

I'm one that doesn't care much about brands when it comes to buying watches (although I have about 17 Seikos in my collection). Most important thing is the watch appeals to you and u wear it in good health.

Can try to get it online. Isn't it a old model? LongIslandWatch carry Trias. Seems to be quite popular in the watch forums.

Since they are local, why don't you email them direct? If they don't sell it to you perhaps they can give you some contacts in KL.

Try Petaling Street. There's a shop which sells all things related to watches. I can't remember what's the shop's name. If I'm not mistaken the name of the building is called Selangor building.

Curious, are u a G-shock collector? How did u get the watch?

The price really depends on the condition of the watch. The problem with jelly & white straps is that they tend to yellow over time and it's difficult to find replacement straps. Is yours Worn, BNIB, still with tag, papers, etc? The retail price was somewhere around 23000JPY. It's not that popular in Japan but has a bigger following with G-Men outside of Japan. The 8200 is generally more popular than 9900.

I recently saw one in mint condition, never worn before, asking for USD450. That's a bit on the high side.

I've seen another mint DW-9900 with box & papers sold for USD380. I personally know someone who purchased one for USD300 and everyone thought it was a bargain. There's really no fix price to put on such a piece.

Malaysian G-Men are still stocking up on the Final Edition GW-200Z Frogman (retails about USD380) or saving up for the newer GWF-1000 series which retails for more than the price of a entry level Tag Heuer. Check out the price sold here.

My advice if you are seriously planning to sell it, would be to look for a foreign buyer (in watch forums), put a price to test out the water, and be patient coz it wont sell overnite, but they do get better response from foreign G-Men.

Most of the RXW MM20 available online now are replicas. Hard to find a genuine one unless you scout watch forums.

Seiko Spirit models r not officially available in Msia. Locally SNDA57P1 looks similar to SBPP007. There's another similar model (on bracelet) but can't find the model no. now.

That's nothing compared to the fake Tissot widely sold on ebay.
