Try petshop. They are known to smuggle them in using runners with the help from Perhilitan before. I am sure they still have them in stock.

Good luck!

Go to adpost.com/my and search there. There's somebody selling them. You can choose to either buy the animals or even catch the seller. Depends which side you are on LOL!

let us just pretend to be sellers and sell out these "prospective buyers with some collection at home" once we get their details. i'm sure that the wildlife department would be glad to catch some smallfries for scapegoating purposes at the moment rclxms.gif

get that opuntia. pick varieties with low glochid/spine count (cochenillifera, ficus-indica, etc). normally tortoises don't have trouble with them, as it is their natural food. the high water content is also a plus. not to mention that they come in a variety of sizes and colors.

other than that - grasses, mulberry, grapes, hibiscus, dandelion -> these are not just safe, but double up as good sources of food.

owh, i don't believe that i can finitely distinguish between mineral deposit and shell fungus on res if you ask me  doh.gif  (maybe others can, not me)

anyway, this is (an alternative) method to find out if it is mineral deposit. try putting on some vinegar on one of the smaller scutes, leave it for a while and scrub it off with a toothbrush or something. repeat the process for a few times, let the scute dry and see if there is any difference. mineral deposits could potentially come off using this method. yeah, this is hard work but would save you the time and effort needed for other types of treatment, which could require weeks. plus, you would know that it is just mineral deposit and not fungus.

the other treatments are of course the normal betadine - ointment - dry docking method or the acriflavine (spelling?) method. medications for the former can be obtained from pharmacies while the latter could be obtained from aquariums/fish shop.

Yet to try the vinegar method coz no vinegar at home.

However, I just noticed yesterday that he/she is floating unusually....the back part is kept floating upwards as if it cant sink. And, also saw small bubble at the nose. Is it onset of RI?

What can I do on my own to help him/her if it is confirmed RI besides bring to vet?

Always read Dr Yeoh is good, is he the only vet who knows how to treat TTT?

Thanks.

there is a very common opuntia cactus without spine.
initially i thought it was damn hard to find. but as i open my eyes wider,
my taman itself, got more than 10 places i can find. and some of the opuntia grow very very big.
so dont worry. just go and look around. hahaha

Not sure about the name thus not sure whether suitable to have it in there. Afraid poisonous to them if eaten.

Will house 4 RES (ranging from 2.7" to 3.7" SCL) in it.

wow that's a really nice piece of work!

for the sick turtle, if you haven't really done any medicinal treatment (baytril, reptaid etc), put it in confinement and continue on with supportive treatment. get an aquarium heater and set the temperature to 30 degrees celcius 24/7 while providing the usual basking space, light and clean water.

That's a Portulaca grandiflora cultivar. They do contain cardiac glycoside (which could cause cardiac arrest) and oxalic acid (which could cause calcium binding, oxalic poisoning, etc) but so far most of the research on human and mammal toxicity doesn't show much ill-effects. (though if you ask me, i'm not taking chances of putting them in there with the turtles smile.gif)

First of all, thank you. But have to give the credit to my dad who put my concept into reality rclxm9.gif

For the sick turtle, since I got him/her, he/she has been on his/her own as quarantine is recommended before introducing to existing group. Can I administer baytril or reptaid on my own? If yes, where can I get it? And how to do it?

Currently I changed water daily, even use RO water instead of tap water. Put at balcony for natural sunshine during the day (but not sure whether he/she basks as I am out to work). Night time, bring in under basking light. Just dont have aquarium heater as yet, will get it today or tomorrow. Does aquarim heater have different capacity? Or it works with any size of the tank?

For the flower, I will remove it. Will plant kangkung instead. If you would recommend, what flower can I plant in there (next to the basking platform) taking into consideration the height limitation?

Thank you.
