Hey guys, as I've posted in this thread earlier that I've bought a D90 recently (bout 2 mths ago) and now I rly think my D90 is a grey set though the shop that sold me the camera insisted repeatedly that this is an original set. I was a fool to just believe his words and not double checked properly before purchasing it at RM3250 as I discovered it has no 'nikon mys sdn bhd' sticker on the box & warranty card. It has the stickor 'my world trading sdn bhd' or sth lk that. not too sure bout it...
Now here's the thing, I heard grey set or local set, there are in fact the same and so far I haven't come across with 'pirated nikon DSLR'. My D90 produce great pictures but one thing which worried me the most is the fact that my battery en-el3e which comes with my new unit has quite a weak batt life span. Averagely on a full charge I can manage only 500-600+ pictures or sometimes even less. And among the 500-600+, probably around 30% or less is taken with flash for wireless triggering purpose. Bottomline is that my batt life is significantly weaker when I compare to a fren of mine who jz bought a D90. Today we did a comparison, with more or less the same shooting style, we started of with 100% batt, by the time we shot 30 pics, his was still at 100% while mine was already at 93% and when we reached our 100pic++, his was still strong at 88% while mine was already 77%. So I checked his batt & compare 2 mine and 2 my amazement, there's diff in our battery! I'm attaching the pic I took to show u guys the difference. The one highlighted in red box is mine while my fren batt is the other. May I know how's yr original batt like? I'm rly furious with the shop, sold me a possibly grey set camera and now I'm rly worried my batt could b a counterfeit one too... Here's the picture: http://www.flickr.com/photos/50541864@N05/4764187914/ TQ for yr time, guys |

QUOTE(General_Nic @ Jul 5 2010, 10:46 PM) ^oh dear, My World again Owh, I bought from a shop in Lowyat Plaza. Well in fact at RM3250, their price is slightly lower than the average of RM3300+. However, They really really kept telling me it was original local set. I was asking them bout it. Then I ended up buying it cuz I wasn't aware bout the importance of having Nikon Mys Sdn Bhd thing at first. He told me I can checked at 'My World Sdn Bhd' and claimed my warranty there like all original unit does. Since I was still innocent and new to buying a Nikon DSLR, I was terribly misled by him and did not think I will be cheated hence I didn't try 2 investigate further even I suspected a little for not having the Nikon Mys thing. I would have topped up more for a local set with proper warranty if he had told me the truth. This is totally conning. So my battery is diff from yrs? i bought frm My World oso last year n accidentally got myself a grey set too but when i called to ask them they honestly told me it was grey set wor, if want Nikon warranty nid add $$$ but urs they keep insisting is ori set? btw, my battery is ori even thou cam is grey set bout D90 battery im not sure, maybe got revised ver? And only today I discovered my batt was diff from my fren's D90 batt. Well, if they had swap the battery out, that would b totally cheating customers!!! |

So my battery is diff from yrs? yup, you never know what they'll do, but i've heard about stories like that happening with handphone owners who wanna sell off 2nd hand phone. something like they wanna sell it off to the shop, but didn't like the price, when the owner wanted to return the phone, they swapped out with a fake battery Yea, from my understanding, the D90 batt life supposedly is very strong.
