QUOTE(celciuz @ Jun 24 2010, 03:49 PM) Are you using third party battery grip? Phottix? I'm using a MB-D80, I've heard about Phottix draining battery though. really? i'm using Phottix. so far no unexpected battery drain. haven't charged for a while and been using occasionally. still got 50% in both

QUOTE(FaezFarhan @ Jun 24 2010, 09:03 PM) Talking about battery grips, is it ok to pair a Phottix battery with the Original one? i'm doing that right now. i was uncertain at first. but i tried to look it up. retailers say it's okay. didn't really find anything that says we can't. though i found out that the nikon MB-D80 doesn't like 3rd party batteries and you won't get accurate battery readings. dnt know how true this is though.

QUOTE(celciuz @ Jun 26 2010, 01:37 AM) 3rd party versus original Nikon. Actually the Di866 would be the best if you want good price/performance ratio. hmm.. how much is the Di866? but also i heard that the x-sync with the Di866 is faulty? :/ btw your pics are amazing This post has been edited by ifaaan: Jun 26 2010, 01:55 AM

QUOTE(shawn2k4 @ Jun 27 2010, 01:57 PM) Another thing i noticed regarding the 50mm f1.8D, is that there is this Toggle on the lens(closest to the body when attached)which has a ranged of 22->1.8. If the toggle is not set at 22, the body comes up with an error. Any idea what's that? And there's also this Orange switch. What's that too? that is the toggle for the aperture ring. since your camera can change the aperture on the body itself, the lens is constantly locked at the f/22 setting on the lens. meaning the paerture is note controlled manually using the aperture ring. try it out, take the lens off, unlock the aperture ring and try twist it ard, you'll see the aperture change

i was deciding between metz and nikon. metz has better figures and is fully compatible with nikon cameras. basically the Metz 48 AF-1 has everything the SB600 has, plus it can zoom to 105 instead of 85 and has a higher GN rating. it's a tad more expensive too. but i went for nikon instead. Cos the Metz doesn't come with a stand and a pouch. hahaha. i didn't wanna spend more for Metz and thn spend even more to get the stand and case. i thought that since this is my first flash, i wouldn't really need such a high GN rating. make do with what i have first. still learning anyway right?

QUOTE(celciuz @ Jul 2 2010, 01:28 PM) Well, my opinion should get the best so no need worry about upgrading . No rules saying learning cannot use better equipments. that's what i thought too last time! hahaa. i guess cos the flash is almost always never pointing back right at the camera, so the sensor they put at the side huh.
