Please ignore my earlier statement. your statement is unbelievable... My question to my friend was, will 1.6 be underpowered as the current model is 2.0. |

QUOTE(hueyseng84 @ Oct 20 2010, 02:12 PM) Avante 2011 model almost similar design with current Sonata, but can't afford one yet.. Dont know if it was a wise decision or not. The specs on the current Avante is pretty basic for a 2.0. Dual airbags with only ABS and EBD. Almost similar to the current Proton Waja. Plus the RM 82K price bracket puts it smack in the middle of the current competition e.g Proton Inspira & Kia Forte. Inspira despite it being a rebadged Lancer, it doing pretty well with the initial bookings. We are seeing more and more Kia Forte's on the road these days too. Plus with the upcoming 2011 Hyundai Avante expected to be priced in that same bracket, it would really bring down the current Avante's resale value considerably.since no idea when is this coming out, and can't wait anymore, so i just bought the current version for slightly below 82k... overall, great car, love the MDPS or EPS, space is great, and the price for 2.0 car.. it's simply awesome.. anyone wanna get one can PM me also.. I can share my SA's contact.. great guy.. (can literally put with all my BS and CB-ness without losing his cool - I'm quite a fussy customer |

From a price point perspective its still offering much more value compared to other competitors who have also 2 or less airbags with no traction control, smaller engine, torsion beam, no 5 year warranty. Seem to me its a good deal.Kia Forte offers a lot of goodies but 2 years warranty is not assuring whilst Proton Insipra has brand reliability issues. Furthermore its 10K more for a 2.0 spec. Resale value will definitely take a hit but likelyhood the new avante will be priced higher so the damage will be mitigated. If you buy a Korean make in Malaysia your main concern should not be resale value or you will be disappointed. |

It's a GDi engine. Power wise on paper is close to a 1.8 engine. Spec wise it's still competitive as compared to inspirar. 6 speed manual or auto. If they don't kill the price it should be a good competitor.

QUOTE(cybermaster98 @ Oct 30 2010, 09:35 AM) Inspira is not 'built' by Proton. It only underwent some cosmetic changes to make it a bit Malaysian. The main bulk of the car including engine and transmission are the same as Mitsubishi Lancer. Nevertheless, they are assembled. For the first few batches, there shouldn't be any concern or question about the quality, but subsequent batches with higher local contents - that's when durability and endurance about the car are questioned. |
