Any idea about the anticipated pricing of this 2011 Avante? Will it be more than 90K or less since its only 1.6L?

Avante 2011 model almost similar design with current Sonata, but can't afford one yet..

since no idea when is this coming out, and can't wait anymore, so i just bought the current version for slightly below 82k...

overall, great car, love the MDPS or EPS, space is great, and the price for 2.0 car.. it's simply awesome..

anyone wanna get one can PM me also.. I can share my SA's contact.. great guy.. (can literally put with all my BS and CB-ness without losing his cool - I'm quite a fussy customer tongue.gif)

Dont know if it was a wise decision or not. The specs on the current Avante is pretty basic for a 2.0. Dual airbags with only ABS and EBD. Almost similar to the current Proton Waja. Plus the RM 82K price bracket puts it smack in the middle of the current competition e.g Proton Inspira & Kia Forte. Inspira despite it being a rebadged Lancer, it doing pretty well with the initial bookings. We are seeing more and more Kia Forte's on the road these days too. Plus with the upcoming 2011 Hyundai Avante expected to be priced in that same bracket, it would really bring down the current Avante's resale value considerably.

From a price point perspective its still offering much more value compared to other competitors who have also 2 or less airbags with no traction control, smaller engine, torsion beam, no 5 year warranty. Seem to me its a good deal.

Kia Forte offers a lot of goodies but 2 years warranty is not assuring whilst Proton Insipra has brand reliability issues. Furthermore its 10K more for a 2.0 spec.

Resale value will definitely take a hit but likelyhood the new avante will be priced higher so the damage will be mitigated. If you buy a Korean make in Malaysia your main concern should not be resale value or you will be disappointed.
*
Does the current Avante have Traction Control? I think its only ABS and EBD. Kia Forte now has 5 yrs warranty as well. Proton Inspira will not have much issues since its basically a rebadged CBU Lancer.

But then inspira build by proton in tanjung malim wor..
*
Inspira is not 'built' by Proton. It only underwent some cosmetic changes to make it a bit Malaysian. The main bulk of the car including engine and transmission are the same as Mitsubishi Lancer.

if the handling is good (not the current Tucson's feel), I might consider.
Sonata is just tooo big/long to find city parking

regardless of the "depreciation".
hopefully it's the GDi engine as well.
the 5 years warranty is well captivating.

Hyundai parts are equally expensive as Japanese parts...
*
Most important is the pricing. Hyundai have to be very careful here. They already have a few good competitors in the market e.g Proton Inspira, Kia Forte & Ford Fiesta. Not to mention the Toyota Altis dual VVTI. If Hyundai make the same mistake they did with the Sonata and price the Avante too high, then they can forget about increasing their numbers of the road.

Nevertheless, they are assembled. For the first few batches, there shouldn't be any concern or question about the quality, but subsequent batches with higher local contents - that's when durability and endurance about the car are questioned.  wink.gif

If u all think 2011 Avante came with GDI 1.6 engine with 6spd GB.....
Forte now in Korea ald released GDI 1.6 engine with 6spd GB also....
http://www.kia.co.kr/vehicles/forte/
will be available in malaysia somewhere in 2011 also....
in term of technology, i think Forte wins....but 2011 Avante also offers technology of it's own that few not available in Forte like build in GPS, Meter...
KIA and Hyundai are brothers company, so, they kinda work more like in a team.....
*
If thats the case then that will lower the resale value of the current Forte even more. Change in transmission is a major change. So unless they really increase the price of the new Forte then the old Forte will suffer. Korean makes dont have the holding power that Jap makes have. Thats why its very important to price the cars very carefully.

i think the price will maintain...if not, will increase abit..
*
Surely wont maintain la. Only a crazy manufacturer will maintain the price. 6 speed gearbox priced the same as 4 speed? That will kill off the resale values of all existing Forte's la. Im sure they wont do it.

for 1 thing i can be sure, hyundai won't compete with KIA coz they are like brothers company....under the same big CEO..
*
Sharing the same parent company doesnt mean there wont be competition. Competition will always be there since they function with separate board of directors and separate autonomy. Profits from both companies are shared with the parent company but that doesnt mean each business entity wont work towards increasing profit margins.

When it comes to sales, no company wants to be left behind. Hyundai already made the pricing mistake once with their Sonata. Im sure they wont make the same mistake with the Avante.

If this car price is over 100K mark, then Hyundai can just forget about it to get good sales in Malaysia. Just for the Hyundai Sonata alone, the price is too close to the Camry and Accord price, so people will surely consider the Japanese rather than Korean. Not to mention the Nissan is launching the Teana this month, I think Hyundai really need to reduce the price if really want to grab sales from Japanese car maker.
*
Totally agree with you. If the Avante is priced above RM90K, its already on the loosing side.

My guess is the 2.0l will be 115k and the 1.6l will be 95k because its CBU but again it depends on what kind of specs they are giving us.
*
RM 115K for a 2.0L will kill off its sales even before its launch. Dont forget the Forte is only priced less than RM94K and its full of specs. Plus next year the 6 speed Forte will grace our shores.

Current 2.0L is RM97k. If they priced over this amount, Hyundai will be at the losing end. smile.gif
*
Thats why the sales of the current Avante is so poor. Hyundai always makes this mistake. They did it to the Sonata and if they do it again to the Avante next year then they're doomed for sure.

Avante is suppose to be up against Civic and Altis. I forsee it will be priced 10k+ lower than the competition. Same strategy for the Sonata.

Regarding Forte pricing. To be honest I am also surprised. I am sure Naza has done some magic which I doubt SD can do (or even bother to do). Kudos to Naza for pricing Forte competitively.
*
Well, if they do that with the Avante then its doomed the same way the Sonata is doomed currently.

comparison in the net show that sonata pawn both camry & accord...but i forgot...this is malaysia...only T & H in our people mind
*
Blame that on the Koreans poor quality and after sales service record in the past. Change of mindset wont happen overnight. Hyundai & Kia have to work hard and ensure all their cars are competitively priced. Kia has done that with the Forte and they are seeing some success. Hyundai is still holding on to their pricing. Sonata's pricing was a mistake. Hope they dont repeat the same mistake with the Avante.

From the info i got, the price is definitely below RM100k but won't be as cheap as the Forte.  unsure.gif
*
Surely it wont be as cheap as the Forte la. The Avante comes with a 6 speed gearbox. Even the upcoming Forte facelift with the 6 speed gb will surely cost a few thousand more.

Still not finalized as the RHD models specs are still not finalized, but the estimate price of the 1.6 Avante is the same as Forte 2.0  sweat.gif
*
90K+ for a 1.6L model??? That will kill the Avante sales in Malaysia for sure.

Cant wait to see how much they're selling it

Existing 2.0 cost almost RM100K

1.6/1.8 most likely cost around RM80-95K

Hopefully!
