QUOTE(cybermaster98 @ Oct 29 2010, 09:37 AM) Dont know if it was a wise decision or not. The specs on the current Avante is pretty basic for a 2.0. Dual airbags with only ABS and EBD. Almost similar to the current Proton Waja. Plus the RM 82K price bracket puts it smack in the middle of the current competition e.g Proton Inspira & Kia Forte. Inspira despite it being a rebadged Lancer, it doing pretty well with the initial bookings. We are seeing more and more Kia Forte's on the road these days too. Plus with the upcoming 2011 Hyundai Avante expected to be priced in that same bracket, it would really bring down the current Avante's resale value considerably. From a price point perspective its still offering much more value compared to other competitors who have also 2 or less airbags with no traction control, smaller engine, torsion beam, no 5 year warranty. Seem to me its a good deal. Kia Forte offers a lot of goodies but 2 years warranty is not assuring whilst Proton Insipra has brand reliability issues. Furthermore its 10K more for a 2.0 spec. Resale value will definitely take a hit but likelyhood the new avante will be priced higher so the damage will be mitigated. If you buy a Korean make in Malaysia your main concern should not be resale value or you will be disappointed.

My guess is the 2.0l will be 115k and the 1.6l will be 95k because its CBU but again it depends on what kind of specs they are giving us.

Avante is suppose to be up against Civic and Altis. I forsee it will be priced 10k+ lower than the competition. Same strategy for the Sonata.
Regarding Forte pricing. To be honest I am also surprised. I am sure Naza has done some magic which I doubt SD can do (or even bother to do). Kudos to Naza for pricing Forte competitively.

QUOTE(cybermaster98 @ Dec 6 2010, 01:49 PM) I dont think ill get it. Maybe my wife. And yes i was really blown away by the Avante when i saw it at KLIMS. Ive seen countless photos but i was really surprised by the interior space and design. Everything really fell into place perfectly. Seriously if Mr. cybermaster98 has good things to say of this car (looks/specs wise since we have not tested it yet on our shores) it must be worthy of a visit. Actually the only reason I want to go to KLIMS is to see that car in metal. Screw the models and other cars. Hehe. Maybe take a peek at the Sante Fe and Honda Insight too.

$#@$@%$@%
Makes me want to go to KLIMS just to see that car. If all is in order I'll drop by tomorrow. Will try to get permission to take some interior shots but seems like no one has been successful.

QUOTE(yeowa @ Dec 10 2010, 02:02 PM) What do you think about the car? Very nice to see it face to face. Love the design and interior is spacious. If the engine provided for our market is good they have a winning combination on their hands. QUOTE(cybermaster98 @ Dec 10 2010, 02:05 PM) Hope u got some really nice views of the rear legroom and boot. Took some rear seat shots but could not open the boot because the model was blocking the driver side. We will need the power of our imagination for that. Hope my shots turned out well. Didn't manage to run through as I took approx 800 pics that day.

QUOTE(yeowa @ Dec 10 2010, 03:17 PM) Wah... Another kiasu on the block... hehehe... just joking... Most likely the engine and gearbox will be the same. You should have kick the model down the water. Hehe... So, you didn't manage to sit on the driver seat? Such a waste lei... Yup. Was one of those wannabe kiasu people. But skill was so low so have to take a few pics of the same thing To be honest I wanted to kick the model down the water and molest the car but I might get killed by the other 10 photographers. No I didn't sit on the drivers seat but I sat on the back and the passenger so Igot a good look and feel of the car. If I managed to sit on the drivers seat the model might think I am staring at her and I might get kicked out for harassment. This post has been edited by MangO: Dec 10 2010, 04:12 PM

QUOTE(kevin23 @ Dec 10 2010, 08:41 PM) Nt gng to bash, just my honest opinion. Dont you think the rear legroom look very tight? That pic might be misleading because when I sat at both the front and back they surprisingly both gave me a very spacious feeling. I think you really need to check out the car personally. You might also be surprised.

I really doubt the Civic will look like that (but secretly hope it is). If so Avante can seriously compete with the Civic. I didn't put Altis because I felt the target market would be different.

I like silver. Makes the car look bigger too. Another colour I like is the Graphite Mica on Mazda 3. Mix of grey and silver.
Problem with white is its just becoming too common. Last time solid colours were cheaper than metallic colour. Who knows. In the future they might charge you a premium.

I hope they don't do that. Its just going to make people give a negative perception on the brand. I rather they add more features instead. Or consider doing something pre-owned e.g. BMW or VW. This is to preserve resale value too.

I have to agree if you buy a Hyundai resale value is not your major concern. But on the flipside as an owner who paid full price and seeing the distributor dump prices I would not be happy because it cheapens the car especially if I have plans to sell the car (to upgrade to another Hyundai) and there are no willing buyers.
Potential customers would hold back purchase expecting massive discounts which Hyundai has to do or it will lose customers. If Hyundai wants to move upstream and price their cars higher this would be one of their stumbling blocks.
Ultimately this would lead to a more negative impression of the brand and Hyundai will always be stuck in a niche market position. For Hyundai they have to sell on volume because they are competing in the mass market segment. Just some thoughts to share. Hope no offense taken.
