It's a value for money laptop actually from Sony based on these pros and cons....

Pros
1. 13" with a good resolution.
2. Lightweight.
3. Cheapest among Sony business notebook
4. Good battery life.
5. Win7 Pro 64 bit.
6. Adequate hard disk size.
7. Small power adapter (compare with Z)
8. Thin chassis.
9. Cool and silent.

Cons
1. Slow processor (It's an ULV).
2. 2GB RAM (watch out if you're heavy multi tasking user, can upgrade to 8GB).
3. Slow hard disk 5,400RPM.
4. From certain angle, it looks plasticky.
5. The LCD is not the Premium line... so expect to have a more white tone.
6. Intel display, power saving but not great on game. WTH, it's for business anyway.
7. Old processor and chipset tech but using DDR3 memory, cheaper to upgrade later when DDR3 is the mainstream memory.

Overall, it is a good notebook actually. If you not concern about the weight, you may opt for EA series. But Y is better than X125 imho.

why don go for E series???looks stylish and nice specs =D

go for Vaio S123.

For an extra RM500 (SRP: RM 3,499) you get:

better processor [Core i3-350M]
extra RAM [4GB DDR3] (Self Upgrade another 2GB on the Y will cost RM 170+)
Better graphics [Intel GMA HD]
Have optical drive
Available in black
Got keyboard backlight and ambient sensor

The only downside is that it weights a lil more than the Y and the battery life is about 3 hours.

I got few question to ask.

Question 1: When i buy my vaio laptop, its come with a window xp proffesional installer. My question is --> if i get another laptop(any brand), can i use that installer to install on the laptop?? or only can install in sony laptop??

Question 2: For creating recovery cd for my laptop, i just click recovery center, then put in an empty DVD then click start. is it that's all??

Question 3: For the extended warranty certificate, i bought near the end of february, and the person told me that sony will send to me within 3 months. Until now i still haven't get yet, should i call them and ask?? is it ok without the extended warranty cert

1.You can use it to install..But u cant use the same product key to activate.

3.Not sure..But from my experence bought a vaio i get the certificate on the sport..

3. this 1 is the sony center ppl told me that sony will send to me. bcoz is extended warranty. i also not so sure. haiz. As long as i got the receipt for that extended warranty, if anything happen on my laptop, i can just take to the service center rite?

best is to bring to where you buy from. =) unless you know what you are doing, nvr unscrew your laptop.

to be honest.....this cw is the coolest machine i ever encountered...totally blow away all my friends machine during 3d app...(in terms of temp =p)

Agree with you, after i update the latest bios, can even further reduce slightly of the temperature, overclock on the graphic card make me can play more games in higher setting

ya, i OC mine to 625 - 1375 - 1090 and make it as default LOL

stock clock was 475 - 1045 - 680 LOL

and its still as cool as cucumber...

i think i will make a recovery first before i DL the firmware....

Good good, after oc still can maintain the temperature is hardly achieve and cw2 series come with higher resolution instead

1. dont think you can install it in another pc.. because the disk is meant for the vaio you purchase only.

3. you can call to ask, it is always late.
