Went and saw the laptop @ Sony Style The Curve... sadly they can't offer anything...  sad.gif how sad of that.

The CW selling for RM300 less, that's the only promotion.

Anywhere that I can get an E for a good deal?

How much did you get your E for? And did you get anything? Care to share the deal?  laugh.gif

New owner of EA16FG here. Its my first Sony notebook... so far im loving it.

I was torn between the ASUS N80JV and the Lenovo Y460, which roughly had the same specs.. until i saw the vaio.. and immediately fell in love with it.

Sure it was about 400 bucks more compared to the lenovo... but no regret la.. and i got a free targus bag... no other freebies or discount.. Sony is quite rigid when it comes to that.

Total price RM3999, credit card and no rubbish 2% bank changes.

oh.. i cant seem to upgrade my ATI drivers from the official site. It says that all Sony Viao notebooks are not compatible for the drivers. Can someone point me to the right direction?

Also, can someone also tell me where i can find some widgets to monitor my GPU status?

Thanks again!

DARN... there is so much of bloatware here.. is there a way i can clean format this machine without the bloatware coming back again? The boot up is quite slow. My 3 year old presario boots up 20 sec faster than this Vaio.

Ouch, seems like I won't be able to get any freebies either? Aw darn.

Anyway, not sure about W7 (haven't tried using Notebook Hardware Control on my other Vaio). There's Everest Home Edition though.

http://majorgeeks.com/download4181.html

Also, what you can do about bloatware is that you can get a W7 disc and burn all your drivers into another CD, and reformat.

Or, you can just use Revo Uninstaller.

http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uninst...e_download.html

Set the settings to Advanced, and uninstall the programs. Ignore any 'restart to complete' prompts and proceed with the registry/folder cleanup (:

Once you're finally done uninstalling each and every one of them there, get CCleaner and do a full cleanup (registry cleanup too).

Hope I've been able to help  nod.gif

Thanks. I will try your suggestion. About the bloatware, is there anything useful there that i will need? I just dont wanna uninstall everything only to realise that there are some stuff that is crucial to the running of the notebook.

The free bag worth RM99 is Targus. It looks water proof to me.. but at the same time the quality build isnt the best. (Rather flimsy and material looks under RM99 tongue.gif

Usually the stuff that are crucial to the running of the notebook contain 'VAIO' in it or 'Sony'.

Can't exactly say which is / isn't bloatware, so I'll need a list of installed components to be able to tell you which to uninstall.

You can do so by installing CCleaner (ccleaner.com) and go to Tools > Uninstall > Save to text file... and post it in a quote here. I'll be able to help (:

Thanks for offering to help. I will download the CCleaner and let you know. Thank you very much again.

VAIO RAWKS!!! Am selling off my 1 month old EEEPC.. anyone wants? cheap cheap.. hehehe

hey i read somewhere that vaio ea16 lacks features compared to the asus n82jv. apart from the nvidia optimus technology which i actually dun really care about, wat else does asus have that the vaio doesnt?

also, does the vaio have international warranty?
*
Well the ASUS N82jv has got USB 3.0, better battery life because of the Optimus gpu. Aside from that, everything else seems the same.

I think that the ATI 5650 GPU is better (Supports Direct X 11, future proof) Where as the Optimus does not.

Im not sure about the international warranty for Vaio tho.

Really? Brother's friend who works in Sony Bangi says that the staff price isn't much different. Bought one of the Vaio's through him last time and it came with FreeDOS, not a big discount either...

I guess Sony's are slowly becoming like Apple's product now? Fixed price here and there.
Here you go.

There are not many to uninstall, actually. Some aren't needed by the laptop to run, like the PMB, but it's just visual eye candy  nod.gif keep it to show off to friends lah  whistling.gif

Other than that, there are some that you can remove:

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Also, if you don't do photoediting, you may as well remove this too:

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

There are also some programs that start without you knowing, so head over to Tools > Startup on CCleaner and just take a look. Just make sure not to disable the wrong startup entry though.

Thanks for the advice. One question. Isnt the Roxio Easy Media Creator 10 a burning software?

Added on June 1, 2010, 1:47 pmI dont really like the Viao Gate software. Already win 7 somewhat this feature at the bottom tray.

IMHO Sony netbooks are too expensive. Netbooks arent very powerful and therefore the price of a Vaio notebook isnt justified.

Here's an interesting fact

user posted image

Did you know that the Vaio logo also had a hidden meaning? Tthe first two letters represent the basic analogue signal. The last two letters look like a 1 and 0, representing the digital signal.

Yes that is true. But i was referring to the logo representation of the design element, and not the meaning of V.I.A.O

Hi im using an external monitor with 1080p resolution, but when i jack in the HDMI cable to my EA16, it wont show 1080p, but 768 as max resolution.

Does this mean i need to update the ATI graphic drivers?

Please help.

is the error only saying this value: 0x000000 ?
because you can check the cause from these hex code meaning:
http://www.easydesksoftware.com/stoperrors.htm

not sure what the cause, did you do something? like install something e.g: driver etc.
system restore do works in this case if you unable to figure the cause..

okay, here thing to note once you already hook up the HDMI cable to your VAIO:
1. Ensure you are running NVIDIA
2. Open NVIDIA panel and look the following and select your display. In this example, since im hook up the HDMI to my Bravia, it will display as SonyTV:
[attachmentid=1790750]
3. After that you are done smile.gif Make sure you not playing any audio file in order to let the audio output to the HDTV/Display speaker. If you did, just close and play the audio again. It will automatically output to your display speaker.
