Guys, I want to ask something about autodisconnect. The autodisconnect app is disconnect the connection when we are not using, so do we need to connect the connection back ourselves when we using or it auto connect back?

Nope, unless something went wrong and your network configs are pening, autodiscon only disconnects net connections that are not active aka transmitting or recieving data. When you need more data the n900 will automatically connect to the net again, using the "connect automatically" settings you have chosen in the Internet setup.

But wifi-switcher messes up this automatic re-connect. Check if you have that installed/activated.

I think PR 1.2 is meant to improve the stability of the OS.Maybe there is another PR update planned to update application and evrything.
Another possible scenario is maybe Nokia will just release PR 1.2 and straight away offer MeeGo for N900 after it is released. If MeeGo is really shaping up well maybe this will be the smarter move.
It's always happens to me too.Even till now sometimes I feel like I should have get Milestone instead.
Android is better in term of software support. If only Nokia add more apps in OVI store,I'll be very happy.
I'm using it.Using it to connect to my YM.Works really well.

Using Opera as my browser now. It's really well done for alpha version.Opera even included some of the desktop function for mobile version.
Downside is it's currently not supporting flash and loading of website isn't quite as fast as MicroB

hi guys, i'm really considering to buy either the n900 or milestone. actually i have preference for nokia as i have always liked and supported nokia. my current phone is E90. the outlook of communicator series is quite bleak. i dun think they will bring out a communicator successor to E90 soon.

but reading many opinions here, seems like many n900 user regret not getting the milestone instead. yet milestone doesn't have the 32GB flash compared to n900. i would say that's a major tradeoff with having a PR1.2 now in a milestone. what say you guys? get milestone now coz it got better support, or get n900 and hope and wait they will come out with support but content coz the hardware spec chosen i superior?

concerning the price of both devices they are roughly similar. but which phone has better price/worth ratio? pls share ur opinions. i am really itching to change to touch phone and also my e90 is dying (bluetooth not working, earport spoil). thanks guys

For me the main attractions of Milestone is capacitve touchscreen & android os(have lots of apps).
But comparing rest of features I would still say that N900 is the better phone. For those who would like to buy this phone, you guys should know that Maemo is still an incomplete project. There are still some additional phone function required to make N900 a true fully functional smartphone + internet tablet. There are some who's saying that Nokia is developing multi touch for resistive screen.

My best guess is Nokia will spend more time on MeeGo and will offer it to N900 once it's released. From what current development look like,MeeGo shaping up very well.Lots of so call "defects" in Maemo 5 are corrected in MeeGo.People don't have to be scared of lack of apps for Maemo 5/MeeGo also.Once QT application really takes off we'll get much more applications.

All I can say is N900 have a bright future ahead.

what u have in mind?

if u want a device mainly for calling and some casual internet browsing, facebook, twitter, and like to have a lot of apps then get the ms or iphone...

if u r always connected and wish to have the smallest netbook u can fit into ur pocket to perform tasks that some smartphone may not meet ur requirement and most importantly, telephony is not ur major concern (most of the basic phone function is inplace but some user may want more like potrait mode like in the most smartphone has and u even do not have the call and end call button on n900). lastly, u must have the patient for the maemo/meego community to develop and grow.....then u may consider getting the n900.

simple right? cheers... tongue.gif

thanks for input guys. looks like i will go for n900.

my main interest is processing power (speed), multimedia and internet.
also, i am a keen follower and adopter of convergance tech. stable software is also one of my concern. i was using 5800xm for 1 month and i hated the constant crashes and the device being underpowered (cpu).

It seems so. Wifi switcher messes up 3G autoconnect as well.

As for the tried and true Milestone VS N900 debate, to put it in simple terms (and after all the other long explainations given), it falls to what you want out of the device.

Arguably, the BETTER SMARTPHONE would be the Milestone, but IMHO the more capable MOBILE COMPUTER would have to be the N900.

The smallest netbook that can fit into your pocket thing is right on the mark, as you need to remember, Android is a mobile OS built on top of linux, while Meamo IS linux, tweaked (insufficiently) for mobile use.

And, accordingly, Maemo has IMMENSE untapped potential. Problem is, potential is useless unless utilized. With patience things should (very slowly) improve, but patience is the key word here.

I hope Meego brings better things on the mobile usability front, but I fear that it would come with a reduction of the sheer power and utter customizibility of Maemo.

Either that or we wait for the Mobile Ubuntu project to mature lol.

Anyway, you'll get used to living with a permanently landscape phone. For me, it was my old N-Gage days all over again.

change your bookmark to:

http://facebook.com/home.php

you have to put in "home.php" now to enter full site. strange, it says download for n900 but when you click on it it says not available for n900 yet.
