Make sure you follow the instruction smile.gif

"-Copy Map directory under eg. MyDocs\Maps\MYS"

You need to make a directory "MyDocs\Maps\MYS" and copy mys.pak file over...

guys, if i follow the instruction on the front page to OC to 900mhz, would the clock speed js stay at 900mhz or it wil b variable (depend on loading).would it stil be 900mhz when idle?
how is the battery consumption?

fr wat i googled, using titan kernel actually prolong batt life even when running higher mhz than stock
can someone confirm this?

thanks...

Battery consumption depends on what voltages you run. The lower the better, but not all A8 Cortexes can handle lower then normal voltages by too wide a difference.

It all depends on your N900, mine runs fine on Ideal voltages at 850, others even at 1ghz. Yours might not. That's just how it is.

Oh, and whatever you set, A8s idles at zero or something near that. It's the voltage settings plus all the other crap we're running that is sucking up juice.

IINM anyway. Currently running Starving settings at 250-600 as default, with shortcuts set to change it to Ideal 500-850 if I need it, on Titan's version 33 kernel. Battery life is slightly better, but the one app that really makes any real difference in battery life is actually Autodisconnect IMHO.

thanks eiraku 4 ur info...

is it the 1 tat run using x-term?

Anyway, the start of day one of my first weekend back to KL sans my lappie. Trying to see if mobile computing has reached the point where I my lappie has become less of neccessity.

And if the N900 is stable enough for extended laptop replacement on the run.

Call it the Mobilility Evaluation project, phase 1.

Btw, my Sialcom BB GPRS/EDGE is acting up in my area right now. 3G's fine but I have limited battery life, you know. Anyone using 2G in KL, ok ah or its another one of their extended downtimes?

EDIT: Annnnnd, now it's okay pulak. Aiseh. Connect through 3G, then switch to 2G. Hmmmmm...

haha...similiar story wit wat my fren told me.
he's always on de run.driving fr kl thru north frquently
online in his car, sumtimesstrong signal den suddenly no signal.
m'sia bb stil inmature...no healthy competiton....n stil slow n expensive compare 2 s'pore,thailand

1 thing nice bout android...
the version is nicely plan out
even older phones can upgrade
very near 2 pc standard...
js like u upgrade windows...
as long as h/ware can support u can upgrade...
so diff from apple,symbian,rim,palm...

i was choosing btween n900 & nexus one (2 buy fr s'pore)
but when n900 launched in m'sia...it had 2 be it...(warranty purpose)
fr wat i see in youtube, i stil find nexus one interesting even with eclair.

froyo wil probably kick sum a$$, especially those fr cupertino...

i got no complaints wit it's phone capabilities.
of coz it sux,(limited call options, contacts n no mms, for heaven's sake) but it's nv the main concern to nokia when they build tis phone.
my criticism is on the built-in apps. 2 few 2 limited...ovi store is a joke.
but credits to de community wic is doin so much 4 all of us here...
nokia/maemo shud hv done more back then.
but now wit de focus shifted to meego, is even harder 2 ask fr them.

i nv treat my n900 as a smartphone.
it's always a mid wit fone capability 2 me all tis while...
had it in mind ever since it was launch wink.gif

hopefully nokia deliver it's meego project wit more promising aspect

Hooyarr!

Reached Mobile Computing Project Milestone 1: Got VNC viewer working through 3G... It's laggy but more than bearable, I can start/stop/control my downloads or whatever from wherever with 3G!

With enough patience, that is, lol.

Should perform better with a good solid WLAN connection, but it's a proof of concept. Or rather, a dream come true - never mind the rough edges.

Remote desktop control FTW!

Next, VPN for constant access of all my files.

Man, I'm actually creating so many frigging holes for people to dig into my lappy lol.

eiraku,
mind if you teach us how 2 do it?
can ask aspire to post the instruction 2 the main page?
thanks...
